Her mother was one of Tortuga's most notorious scouts who spent most of her time away, pillaging and plundering other packs' resources. The product of a fling which occurred during one of these unscrupulous excursions, Bones and her siblings were brought up by their single mother, with lots of help from her ruffian pack.

Following a bad row with Cutlass, during which Bones accused her of being a terrible mother—after all, Skull had died and Kraken had vanished under her remiss care—the youth decided to run away from home and find her father and/or brother. Just days later, Bones arrived in the Teekon Wilds and found not only her father and brother but a second family at Swiftcurrent Creek.

Before long, Cutlass and her band of rogues came looking for the wayward pup. They faced off with the creek wolves and a brutal fight ensued. Several of Cutlass's band lost their lives. They still won in the end, successfully abducting Bones. They took her back to Tortuga, where they made a slave of her to punish her for disobeying her mother and abandoning ship.

As her first birthday neared, Cutlass finally cut her daughter loose, taunting her into exile. Relieved but ragged from months of abuse, Bones fled in the direction of the creek, hoping to make it home if only to die.

Fortunately, she survived the trip and regained her health in the creek. Her home of yore had changed, however, and was no longer the place she remembered. After reuniting with Ira, Bones decided to seek her fortunes outside of the Teekon Wilds. After agreeing to court, the pair left the lands and eventually founded their own pack at Thief River Falls.
