A bit of an oddball, but usually well-meaning.
Mephistopheles holds the belief that there are forces in the world that most creatures cannot sense but a few. Said forces being both benevolent and malevolent, which the majority being neutral.
Mephisto has made it their life's work to find and exorcise the malevolence that they find to be out of balance, be that through speech, ritual or death.
They can be single minded at times when they are on the hunt, following a scent or feeling that only they are aware of. This makes them relatively nomadic in nature, there one day and gone the next.
They don't follow a specific religion, but do have a sense of spirituality. Believing in things like spirit possessions and curses as well as blessings.
