A small, lithe female— quick on her feet, she is built for stamina and evasion over strength and defense. Her atlantis green eyes are bright and intelligent, a stark contrast against her mostly black coat. Her forehead and cheeks are speckled faintly with white hairs, but her most notable markings are the white three-quarter socks of her forelegs, and the band of white over her haunches that connects to a white underbelly, fading back to black at her armpits. In general, Magpie gets along with most company. She is a natural extrovert and craves interaction, whether or not it's pleasant. Even so, she's excruciatingly slow to truly place her trust in any wolf— but when she does finally allow another wolf into her heart (or chooses to cast them out forever) she is fierce in her emotion. She loves and hates at extremes. She's often taken with mood swings, and typically does not attempt to hide her emotion, but rather embraces it honestly; this is usually at odds with her desire for social interaction and high status, for she's quick to lash out at others when irritated.
Ruled more by logic and reason than any sort of empathy, Magpie is often insensitive to the emotions of others— but this is typically born out of pure obliviousness to their existence than any malicious intent. If reason tells her that she has been wronged, Magpie will hold a lasting grudge, even over small things— and stubbornly requires the offender to regain her slow-to-earn trust. This preference for logic is often the way to alter Magpie's mood swings; she will listen to criticism if it is clear, truthful, and actionable. She remains loyal to her family above all, and it is in this particular instance that she is prone to tossing aside grudges and judgments (but don't be so foolish as to think she has released them).
Magpie is a free spirit that craves adventure, new scenery, and new experiences. Because of this, she is often very reckless— both physically and emotionally. She hates to be bored, and tends to buck if her life becomes too routine and dull. Magpie doesn't think much farther than the present moment, and therefore becomes uncomfortable with commitment; what she promises today is not necessarily what she will hold to tomorrow. Biography
Magpie was born to the matriarch of a closely-knit, familial and nomadic pack known as the Corvidae. From her birth until the age of six months, Magpie was raised in their rich, nomadic culture— many of the beliefs she carries from them are unconventional, but they instilled in her the importance of family and ancestors. The Corvidae celebrate many holidays, usually coinciding with solstices and equinoxes, traditions that Magpie keeps even in the Wilds.
At six months of age, she was separated from the Corvidae as they passed through the northern edge of the Teekon Wilds. Magpie was quickly found by Fox, then-Alpha of Swiftcurrent Creek, and joined their ranks. During her time with the Creek, she was captured by the wolves of the Sunspire, and remained their captive for a week— during which she hunger-striked and refused to speak. While captive, she met her best friend and love interest: Summer DeMonte-Ostrega. After being returned to Swiftcurrent Creek and finding that Fox (a wolf that had inexplicably received her loyalty) had abandoned them, Magpie left the Teekon Wilds to search for the Corvidae.
Unsuccessful in her search, Magpie returned to the Wilds several months later. She was discovered by Peregrine Redleaf-DiSarinno, accepting his aid— begrudgingly, after discovering his mate was none other than Fox. Magpie helped found the pair's fledgling pack, Redhawk Caldera, more out of repayment to Peregrine's kindness than any true desire to be there. Unable to release the grudge she held towards Fox, the Corvidae soon left the pack without word or explanation.
Successful in finding her birth pack this time, Magpie remained with as she grew to adulthood— learning much about her personal history, as well as some deeper Corvidae traditions. Realizing the mistakes of her youth, Magpie eventually returned to the Teekon Wilds, her intention to set things right with the wolves of Redhawk Caldera. Her arrival was received with mixed welcome, disrupting the pack against her intentions; even more so upon the discovery that she and Fox shared a father. Although she had only meant to right wrongs and move on, Magpie decided she couldn't leave in the wake of this revelation, no matter the cost.
Determined to have a relationship with her half-sister and nieces and nephews, Magpie remains a member of Redhawk Caldera— despite the many challenges she faces there as the pack's "black sheep", and despite her feelings for the dark-furred boy of the Sunspire.
