jacint is close to what he calls piriawis, or the life-giver. in his cosmology, it is a celestial body of water whose presence is echoed in living-water, or yardna on earth -- living-water meaning freshwater that moves, such as in streams and rivers. stagnant water, and saltwater to him are little more than profane.

he believes yardna and what governs it is something apocryphal, all-encompassing, perhaps even intelligent.

his creed is dismissive of the material world, and instead worships detachment alongside knowledge. he largely considers earthly life to be sordid, base, and sinful, though he is not forthcoming about this misanthropy (hmm... what would be the wolf equivalent of misanthropy?) and pessimism, and sometimes even contradicts himself due to his libertine sympathies.

in afterlife, all souls leave their bodies to become imbued with the Hayyi Rabbi (the Creator of all things) in the World of Light. this requires a complex funeral rite called masiqta, or death-mass. he believes that this eventual hypostasis with the Creator is the ultimate goal to life.

his faith emboldens him and instills within him a great fervor -- yet at the same time it renders him callous, heretical, and alien.
