At first, Hirundo seems little more than a whimsical idiot. Self-centered and vain, he seems content to simply wander around aimlessly, grooming his lovely fur and lounging on warm, sun-baked rocks. Despite these flaws, he is friendly and pleasant, and can be quite charming (despite being annoying). He is unfortunately something of a flirt as well, though he almost certainly lacks the courage to back up his words. It would be easy to label him as shallow, and one would not be entirely amiss for doing so. However, he is genuinely kind, and he does care for others—even if he has no faith in his ability to actually be of any help.

He enjoys singing, performing songs for others to brighten their spirits, or simply for his own joy. He is quite knowledgeable about plants and many aspects of the natural world...when he's paying attention, that is.

Although he is certainly a silly man—a fool, even—Hirundo is, in fact, not completely airheaded. He was the son of his pack's herbalist and leader, a tough but knowledgeable and caring woman. She trained him and prepared him as best she could. All her teachings could not prepare him for her premature death, however. While illness ravaged his natal pack, Hirundo could only watch as his family wasted away. Another pack took advantage of the opportunity presented, and ousted Hirundo and any other remaining wolves from their land.

Hirundo does not know if any others survived; he had neither the courage nor the experience to track them down. All he knows is that he fled as far and fast as he could.
