BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - WOLF - June 15, 2016 Packs may only participate in one prey opportunity at a time. Characters may only post once per day. Nocturne Summit: One of the flattest parts of The Moonspear's mountain range is a broad summit permanently covered in shadows. Peaks rise around it such that the sun never truly reaches this shorter summit. A cool, refreshing place to go on the hottest summer days. Two mountain goat rams are engaged in a duel on the lower slopes of the summit. There's more than enough meat to feed a wolf pack... but there's also an incredible amount of danger involved, considering the animals' horns, the treacherous terrain and the spring downpour. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Floki - June 15, 2016 There was really no reason for Floki to be at Nocturne Summit in the pouring rain, but there he was. He blinked, his eyelashes wet as he gazed up at the slope and the familiar mountain range behind it. He had all but decided to head back to Moonspear when a clattering reached his ears and caused him to pause. Instead of turning towards home, he followed the source of the sound and was rewarded with the sight of two mountain goats facing off. Immediately, the young wolf's mouth began to salivate as he watched the rams prepare to meet again with their horns, hooves scraping the rocky terrain in anticipation. Floki backpedaled and pointed his muzzle towards Moonspear, ignoring the splattering of the rain on his face as he loosed a low howl for his packmates -- @Charon and @Amekaze first and foremost, but he hoped that others would rally as well. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Harley Quinzel - June 15, 2016 Harley was doing his job helping Althaia to heal, and was out hunting himself when Floki's call rang out on the peak of rock beside them. At once, the hybrid set off to find his friend and Beta. Perhaps he'd found prey himself, and needed help? Harley hoped so. The gamma was tired and hungry, the famine that seemed to be nearly over having slimmed the man down. Nevertheless, it took Harley a small amount of time to finally come into view of his grey packmate, and even through the rain he could see and smell the battering rams. It hadn't been easy to get up here, not at all, but time on Moonspear had toughened up the wolfdog. Keeping silent, the milky man slid up beside Floki. It was clear in his body language that he was here to support, his amber eyes staring intently at the food that could feed both him and Althaia. Funny, how she'd become a part of his own worries, and her survival matched importance with his own. Perhaps he'd taken more than a liking to her, but such things couldn't be voiced, not now. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Dash - June 15, 2016 FOOOOOOD!
Dash had been scouring the pack lands for food ever since he returned. Fish came easily, if he had enough patience to try and try again, but he hadn't been very successful at land prey. So, when Floki's low howl reached his ears, speaking of food, Dash abandoned his own hunt to go aid his pack mate. He didn't waste time, though some might have argued he wasted energy, running at full speed to get to his Beta. If there as food, Dash wanted in on it, and since it wasn't in their pack lands, they would most likely have to fight off other packs for the meat. So, to the dark wolf, it wasn't wasting energy. He arrived, his body submissive and respectful to Floki as a loud noise caused his gaze to move upward. Two sheep were duking it out on the cliff, although he couldn't imagine over what. But, he did know one thing: All those days he spent sliding down the rock faces were about to come in handy. This cliff was more vertical than the ones he had been playing on, much higher, and it was much more likely that he would get injured in the process, be it from the fall or the sheep, but if it meant food for them, it would be worth it. He glanced to Floki, I can get them down, he said. But, he didn't move just yet, waiting for his Beta's decision on what to do next. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Amekaze - June 15, 2016 When she heard Floki's howl, she was off across the borderlands and towards the source without much prefacing at all. It had to be worthwhile if he had called for them. Hunger and perpetual restlessness made that idea come easy, even in the steady rainshower. Knowing that he didn't sound far and that there would be someone left to mind the mountain helped. She followed his trail and made relatively good time. As soon as she realized the situation of two battling rams with a rush of joy, she was instantaneously glad to already see a handful of Spear wolves on the scene ahead of her -- with more likely to follow. She prickled excitedly and moved in among the gathered wolves, eager and light in her steps with her fur already soaked with rain. Meanwhile, she glanced between the rams hopefully and the landscape below them in case this attracted the attention of other predators as well. But, if they could work quickly, it would not be as great of a worry. The Spear was not so far away. "I say we get them as fast as we can, and watch our backs while we do.." she suggested quickly while she licked her lips. The rain added an extra danger to recognize here, but she was far too enthralled by the idea of a fresh meal to be overly cautious -- and in the belief that if anyone would be in their element here on the steep slopes, it would be them. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Charon - June 16, 2016 Rain wasn't exactly Charon's favourite condition to be out and about in, especially in these conditions when their health was already diminished and they were hungry for a proper meal. The young Alpha headed Flóki's call, however, because if his brother had reason to summon himself and Amekaze somewhere, then he knew that something was going down. When he arrived it turned out this wasn't just a summons for himself and Ame; many other pack mates had gathered already, and it was with pride that Charon acknowledged each and every one of them; not just Ame and Flóki were greeted, but Charon offered both Dash and Harley a proud smile as well. He would not forget their assistance. And then he saw them. Food. He'd taken down a ram with Ame once, even if they hadn't gotten out entirely unscratched, so why would this be any different? He could sense caution with his pack mates, but Charon felt bold and ready to get the food. At Ame's words Charon looked over his shoulder, but so far he did not notice any other wolves or predators that might want a bite. This was theirs, he was confident of it, especially with five of them already gathered. Charon licked his lips and nodded in agreement to his mate's words — they needed to hurry and get this over with. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Peregrine Redhawk - June 16, 2016 Death was part of the life cycle. Peregrine knew that, just like he knew that pups often died, even during the best of times. He supposed he accepted Peter's fate as an unfortunate but natural outcome of the famine, but that didn't mean he could control his emotions over the loss. Mostly, he was angry and full of blame. He blamed himself, of course. He should have been able to do more, keep his sons fed even if it wore him down to the bone. He never should have left, either. But he didn't stop there. He blamed Fox. He blamed his Betas. He blamed his pack. They had all failed Peter, when they all should have sacrificed themselves for him and the other pups. They were supposed to be the future and now at least one of them didn't have one. He certainly wasn't in a good state of mind when he left home in the middle of the night. He told himself he was going out to hunt, yet Peregrine never even managed to pick up so much as a scent to track. Out of nowhere, he found himself at the foot of a mountain. He gazed up at its shadow, blacker than the surrounding night, and began to climb. He was high on one of its peaks when the day broke and when the rain began to fall. He was a motionless statue as the two rams squared off below, the clash of their horns a substitute for the absent thunder. His single jade eye watched as wolves began to gather beyond the mountain goats, clearly preparing to hunt them. When Peregrine finally moved, it was very sudden and without warning. He snapped to his feet in a flourish and leaped out into the open air. Part of him hoped he would land on one of the ram's backs. Another (selfish and cowardly) part of him hope he missed and smashed open like a watermelon against the sharp, wet rocks. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - RIP Fox - June 16, 2016 Fueled by her desire to keep her remaining children safe, Fox had ventured just outside their territory in search of food (and the bitch who had murdered her son). She'd left the pups with their caretaker (whoever she happened to run into that morning), since Peregrine had already left before she'd woken up. Somewhere along the line, she'd picked up his scent and began to follow it. She didn't need to say anything to him, but his presence was of comfort. With the spring rain, tracking him hadn't been terribly easy, but she managed. However, when she finally caught up to him, she was horrified at what she saw. He was literally leaping onto the jagged rocks, surrounded by wolves that she did not recognize. "Peregrine!" she called out, her own feet moving as quickly as they could to rush toward him. Fox couldn't bear to lose another loved one in such a short amount of time. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Althaia - June 16, 2016 The call had sounded, and the Thrall had come. Wordlessly, she had made her way toward the call, placing some of her weight on her injured leg. It was healing, thanks to Harely, but still it was not healed. The deep cuts around her ankle had faded to the brightness of new scars, and glancing down at them, Althaia noticed something. Her anger, her fear was still there, but also acceptance. Yes, she would play this role. Yes, she had made a mistake, and this was much her fault. But she would be damned if she stayed here. She approached her master carefully, letting him know with a small chuff and a lowered head that she was here to serve. Her anger, her bitterness, her emotions had gotten in the way in the past weeks, but no longer. No longer would she be driven by them. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Charon - June 17, 2016 When a vaguely familiar face from another pack arrived, Charon's teeth peeled back and he snarled, "Fuck off, this is ours!" He wasn't intending to give any scraps away to another pack. Perhaps if he had given it more thought, he could have decided to use the other pack to do the more dangerous part. They could've spared a few scraps or chased them off after. But he was ruled by hunger, and even though they had not caught anything yet Charon wanted the food, wanted to feed his pack; not be hungry for a second. He didn't expect the man to burst right past them and make a leap for the rams, however. Charon's eyes widened as he watched it unfold, and he wasn't sure what to do. Maybe wait to see if the man would burst into pieces on the floor. They would have more food then. They would even have less danger if they would eat him instead of the rams, or maybe one of them would fall with him. With a start Charon realised who the black wolf was when a second stranger arrived on the scene, one that reminded him of Dhole in some ways. He remembered now — the black man was her father. Resentment still ran deep within Charon's heart, the fond memories of Dhole mixed with her treacherous betrayal and the sting of rejection. For now he watched it play out, for they were with a majority regardless and the wolf's move was reckless and foolish. Whatever the outcome of his action, Charon arrogantly did not think it would be of negative impact to them and so he waited. Amekaze was the more tactical hunter of the pair of them anyway so he yielded to her knowledge on the matter of how they would hunt them; as far as Charon was concerned they would just ignore the fool and his partner and get back to the hunt without them. In the commotion he did not even really notice Filth's approach, eyes pinned on what was unfolding before him. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Heldi - June 17, 2016 Heldi was one of the later wolves to appear it seemed, moving to join her pack silently as Charon faced off with two strangers. She assumed them to be from another pack given the hostility between the two. The rams caught her attention, the loud clashing of their horns sounding thunderous. She had never hunted them before though she had seen them. Her head cocked curiously, wondering what they were fighting over. The creatures seemed to be ignoring them for their fight, stupid considering two packs were assembling to hunt them. The black male, Peregrine as called by his companion, made a leap for the rams and Heldi's eyes widened. Surely attacking two fighting rams wasn't the best of ideas? She was half afraid to watch in case he was smashed to bits by the hooves and curved horns, or if he missed and was killed on the slippery rocks. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Amekaze - June 17, 2016 She glanced around, sizing the scenery up and working through the scenarios on high speed. The thrall arrived as well, and when she drew a breath to prepare to move this forward because impatience would have its way, a black flash of wolf appeared. She peeled back her lips instantly, simultaneously offended and appalled at the apparent lack of tact here as he.. essentially went flying for the rams out of nowhere. Foolish, she hissed, still watching to see if he may be splattered, be trampled, or otherwise -- none of which were everyday sights. To her eyes, there was no tactic at work here, only wild ignorance. No sooner did she think of the phrase did.. Fox(??!) show up on the scene, evidently shouting for the flightless black moron. Amekaze balked and eyed this all angrily, confused but not surprised to find Fox involved somehow just because of how annoyed the mountain alpha felt already. Cursing something under her breath, she lashed her tail and couldn't stay still any longer. "We take what is ours," she said. Whatever this shitshow was that threatened to get in their way was be damned, they were going to have their meals. "Dash, we lead a chase.. if we can bring them within a better reach and away from the others, that is best.." she summoned with a swing of her muzzle, knowing Dash would find no qualms in joining her for this step. The rest could fall into place wherever they saw fit. She believed in them. "Help chase, deter them -- if they do not kill themselves first," her tone, disdain and all, suggested she meant the rival pack wolves. "And prepare for a kill." Amekaze moved for the nearest ram, curious to see if the suicide flight was a success or not as well as she neared. In either case, she set her sights on ramflesh. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Floki - June 17, 2016 His eyes remained fixed on the rams as his packmates began to gather around him. His ear turned towards Dash, who arrived first and seemed confident that he would be able to bring the battling sheep down from the ledge. But when Amekaze appeared on his other side, Floki immediately deferred to her suggestion. He nodded, refraining from giving a verbal confirmation even as he saw Charon slip into his peripheral vision. The four of them would hopefully be able to overpower the mountain goats with the help of Filth and Heldi, who materialized behind them and seemed ready to follow their leaders' orders. But before Ame or Charon could give any final instructions, there was an eruption of commotion as a black wolf suddenly leaped at the rams with reckless abandon. There was a snarl from Charon, and then a second stranger darted into the fray. Floki's heart leapt into his throat at the sight of the fiery red fur. Wildfire? Even amidst the chaos, he was able to determine that it wasn't Wildfire, but he didn't have time to dwell further as Amekaze issued directions murmured in a deadly whisper. As she and Dash took off at the head of the pack, Floki fell into step behind them, forcing his mind to go blank as his paws drove him towards Wildfire's parents and the goats. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Dash - June 17, 2016 Much of Moonspear arrived, for which Dash was glad. It meant that if anyone else showed up, they would have the upper hand. Dash was looking for a way to get above the dueling rams, but when he looked straight above, another wolf was already in place, and it wasn't a pack mate. Dash growled, watching the wolf potentially commit suicide. I could have done that a lot better, he mumbled angrily. A voice rang out, and Dash looked to see another wolf not of their pack. No matter. Right now, they still outnumbered the others. The adrenaline had already begun coursing through his body, and he began to pace back and forth, being respectful of the leaders and staying behind them. And then Ame gave the orders. Dash moved up beside his dark Alpha and matched her step for step as they began the hunt. He released a growl, his feral instincts taking over. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Peregrine Redhawk - June 17, 2016 Minor detail: Perry was above them the entire time (he spent the night bein' a gargoyle). :D
He didn't hear his mate's cry. He didn't hear the enraged snarls coming from the other pack's leader. He didn't even hear wind whistling in his ears or his blood thumping in his veins or his heart beating to a stop in his chest. All he heard was an echo in his head: materfakin' shet! It wasn't his voice he heard but that of his son, Peter (that little parrot) screaming his favorite catchphrase. Fuck but if it hadn't annoyed the ever living shit out of him. But now he would literally have laid down his life to hear that little epithet burst from his youngest's mouth. He made impact. The drop hadn't actually been that far—perhaps two, maybe three stories—but every bone and sinew in his body screamed in protest when it slammed into the smaller of the two rams. The beast crumpled beneath him like it was made of paper, its back and legs breaking. Simultaneously, the momentum of Peregrine's drop flung them both further down the slope. But whereas he somehow got caught and tangled (quite painfully) by a root, the goat tumbled straight toward the wolves below like a bowling ball about to strike some pins. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - RIP Fox - June 18, 2016 Even if Fox had remembered the black wolf's name, she could not have put the name to the face of Amekaze. Once, they had been in a pack together. Once, they had been comrades. Once, they had parted ways because Amekaze sided with an idiot. Fox hadn't seen her since then and had forgotten about her entirely. Time stood still when Peregrine leapt, and Fox worried that she might watch her mate fly to his death. When he hit the goat, she was sure she had watched him fly to his death. Once she managed to regain the ability to use her legs, she scrambled toward him, slipping and sliding on the treacherous rocks. The bowling ball of a goat was forgotten, left to the other wolves as she rushed to Peregrine's side. "Peregrine. Perry. Sweetie." Her voice was hushed as she licked his face, thanking the stars above that he was not (yet) dead. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Althaia - June 19, 2016 Althaia noticed the flying wolf a little late. She looked up as the blur of black finally caught her attention, eyes widening as the midnight coated one launched straight at one of the goats, smashing into it instead of the rocks below. Sadly for him, however, he dislodged the goat, which in turn begun to roll toward the wolves of the pack. The one with the pelt of flaming read rushed to the other, and Althaia watched as she climbed the treacherous rocks to tend to the crazy one. Thanks to the actions of said crazed wolf, Moonspear now had a nice bit of prey rolling toward them. Althaia glanced at Charon, instinct wanting to rush at the thing and bury her fangs in it. A number of factors prevented that from happening, so she simply stood behind Charon, willing to follow any instructions he gave. She did hope there would be some goat left for her skeletal form. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Amekaze - June 20, 2016 She began her pathway for the goats, and before her, matters had escalated in hardly a heartbeat. The smaller of the rams was soon tumbling their way, with the second moving away from the whole scene the best it could. The wolf dropping in on them from above had surely startled it into realizing the other hunting wolves as soon as their fight had been forced to end. Amekaze didn't like the footing below, either, even as she began to her upward charge and did what she could to adapt to it. None of it settled very well. The falling goat's momentum carried it down and she maneuvered out the way with a held breath. Since by the time it moved past her, it was still carrying a good share of speed with it, she didn't risk getting very close. One clip of a stray hoof or limb and her own footing could send her slipping face-first into the same fate. She snapped when it fell past her, missed and closed her teeth around empty air, then worriedly glanced over her pack-mates then back to the second ram as fast as she could. At least this one was practically wrapped up with a bow for them. As soon as it came to a stop, they could kill it -- if the fall down the mountain didn't shatter its every bone first. But now, options hung. She spied Fox now with the seemingly incapacitated Peregrine. The other ram was getting the hell out of town too, picking a hasty path over the slick rocks that only put more and more frustrating distance between her and it. Behind her, hopefully her wolves made the first noteworthy kill in weeks. But, she saw the second one slip. She saw it as a mixed sign. Amekaze rumbled. Could they add to their count? Greedily, she wanted to. She continued a path up the slope, although she hungered to go diving her teeth into the smaller of the rams. A glance to Dash then gauged his reaction, because she would need him to help on a chase if there was any hope of the second being theirs as well. But, she stole a moment and visually sought Charon now -- wherever it was he had ended up (hopefully out of range of falling rams). His aggression towards the Redhawk wolves hadn't gone unnoticed and she, enthralled by the rain, the mountain, the chance at blood, perceived them as weakened. Was he on the same page? RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Charon - June 20, 2016 small recap just to make sure i know what's going on correctly (before my own post): dash and amekaze were going up to the rams when peregrine jumped from above onto 1 ram, the ram falls, peregrine and fox are now off to the side where peregrine fell, while the ram is coming for the other moonspear wolves. meanwhile, amekaze is going after ram 2 but glances back a look to see what the rest is doing.
Everything spiralled out of control really fast. Charon was driven by hunger, but his anger for the two stray wolves to arrive from the other pack, one of them diving on top of the ram with not a thought, did not dissipate either. It was those two things that drove him now; yet he was soon forced to rethink the strategy that Amekaze had presented them with when the ram that was attacked by the black wolf came tumbling down the slopes. The wolf that looked like Dhole — a thing that only fueled his anger towards the pair — was off to the side when both the wolf and the ram fell and tumbled down towards them. Yet the ram came straight towards him and Filth, who stood beside him, as well as Heldi and Flóki who were closeby too. Flóki had just gotten to his feet to move closer towards the rams when they started to fall. "Out of the way!" Charon shouted at his wolves and he dashed to the side himself. He hoped everyone had gotten away safely by the time he was able to dash to the side. Charon turned around after he got out of the rolling ram's direction to try and stop it somehow (but he wasn't enough of a fool to try to do so by jumping in front of it so stayed to the side). Teeth snapped at the ram, but before he could grab a leg to try and stop it from falling a hoof slashed across his face. The force threw Charon to the ground. Blood started to drip down the gash on the side of his face and a ferocious growl started to rumble in his throat as he watched the ram roll forward towards a ledge, threatening to roll over the edge. Charon would be too late to reach it even as he was getting to his feet, the side of his face looking gruesome and bloody and his head dizzy, but no more than that. He was lucky. He turned his angry midnight blue eyes towards the wolf that had caused this, hackles raising, tail curling over his back and teeth peeled while his tongue ran across his lips to catch some of the blood that was dripping down his face. Revenge was heavy on his mind, and the same instinct as before drove him, yet this time in a different direction. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Peregrine Redhawk - June 20, 2016 Please let me know if I misunderstood your post, Iris. ^___^
And there's some minor powerplay of Fox, so let me know if I need to tweak that, Rem! A groan broke loose when Peregrine moved, trying to untangle himself from the twisted root that had likely saved his life. Unsure how he felt about that just yet, he did a quick assessment of the damage. By some godforsaken miracle, he didn't appear to have any broken bones. But everything hurt. He felt like one giant, blooming bruise. The rain that pelted down from the sky wasn't helping, either. He gasped as he tried to push himself to his feet, flinching when suddenly something warm touched his face. He was startled to see his mate. That was when he became suddenly aware of something else: there was a peculiar but familiar taste in his mouth. Turning away from Fox, he spat on the ground. Just before the rain washed it away, he saw threads of bright red blood in the saliva. Was he bleeding internally? Certain that he was, Peregrine looked up at his sodden mate, not sure what to say for himself. He still wasn't entirely sure he was glad to have survived the fall, which made him avert his jade gaze from her face. And his single eye fell upon a white blur scrambling up the slope toward them. And just like that, Peregrine knew: he didn't want to die, after all. "Fox," the soaked, sore Alpha hissed, "we have to get out of here." He was in no condition to defend himself, much less fight, against possibly several wolves. Being forced to run for his life was just punishment for his crimes as a father, as well as his stupid-as-fuck decision to jump off the cliff in the first place. "Run!" he snapped at her, just to be perfectly clear, waiting for her to leap ahead and sparing a glance downhill toward the charging wolf before facing forward and attempting to beat a hasty retreat around the side of the mountain, moving at a downward angle. They would be seriously fortunate if they didn't break their fucking necks trying to get the hell out of dodge. As it was, every bone and sinew in Peregrine's body screamed in protest. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Floki - June 20, 2016 I wasn't planning a whump when I started writing this, but it just kind of happened! I'll work out his injuries in my next post. :)
It was hard to stay focused; Floki's gaze was trained on the scene unfolding before him as he ran, watching as Peregrine slammed into one ram and sent it sprawling. The Wildfire lookalike went to him, and -- deciding he wanted to keep his distance, although it was not likely that either of them would recognize him with everything else that was going on -- he altered his course to move towards the fallen goat. Ahead of him, Charon was clipped by the animal's sharp hoof. Floki dodged its body, but when he realized that it was dangerously close to rolling away and down the slope, he lunged after it. He seized its back leg, pulling his haunches beneath him in an attempt to stop it, but its forward momentum was too much. He was dragged over the ledge with the ram. He released his hold on its limb and felt himself falling, suspended in midair for a split second before his body hit the rocks. He tumbled head over tail, trying desperately to remember Dash's advice for a safe fall but failing miserably. The wet terrain made it nearly impossible for him to regain any control or balance, so he went limp and let the mountain do its damage. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Heldi - June 20, 2016 Chaos. The bastard of Vledfest could barely keep up with it all. Everything was in such a fast pace her mind raced to keep up, the rain lowered visibility and was no help. The black male slammed into the ram, which crumpled on itself in a grotesque fashion, its rival pinwheeling down the slope towards the Moonspear wolves at an alarming rate. The male's companion raced towards him, Heldi was relieved to see he was okay. Maybe that was traitorous but she was grateful she didn't have to witness this stranger's death on the mountainside. Amekaze and Charon both reached for the goat but came up short, Amekaze rushing up the mountain and being followed by Charon who received a painful gash across his face. The two strangers fled, Floki being pushed aside by the ram and rolling like a rag doll down the mountainside. Heldi lost sight of him in the rain but was unable to do anything before the ram was upon her. In a confused reaction, Heldi tried to dive to the side while she reached for the food with open jaws. Her paws scrambled for purchase, confused as to where she was trying to go. She managed to grasp a hindleg in her maw before it was ripped away, the ram crashing into her full force. She rolled with it briefly, the slick shale tearing into her flesh painfully. Finally, Heldi was rolled to the side, the horn on the ram scraping across her already wounded shoulder and tearing into the newly formed scar tissue. A scream wrenched from her throat and then the ram was gone, continuing on its path. Heldi huddled in the rain, too pained to move for several long moments. Finally, the agouti struggled to her feet with a heavy limp. Teeth bared against the burning in her shoulder, she began to drag herself upwards to help her pack. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Althaia - June 20, 2016 So lets see if I got this right... Goat is rolling towards them->Floki grabs the goats leg as it teeters on the end of a ledge-> It's momentum is too much and Floki falls over the cliff with it->is in the progress of hurtling down the mountain with a goat near-ish?
The scene was rapidly descending into chaos.Althaia saw the ram heading straight for her, and the wolves around them, and limped hurriedly out of the way. The ram was like a stone, rolling, hooves flairing, and were it not wet and in the midst of a famine it would have been comical. One of it's hooves seemed to slash across her master's face, with a sick feeling of pleasure she noted the blood left beind. For a moment, she was appaled. How could she feel pleasure at the injury of another? She felt oddly guilty, and turned away to watch the goat. Her eyes widened when she saw it on the edge of the ledge. She hobbled towards it, loathing to see such a meal fall, but Floki was faster. Mist obscurred her vision for a moment, she blinked hard and squinted against the miserable drizzle. Her heart leapt when Floki lunged for the goat, surely he would get it. She cheered for the male in her mind, wanting just a scrap of that goat for herself- Floki had the goat. Floki was moving. Floki was falling. Instinct drove her, and she was quick to stumble to the edge of the ledge. Floki looked limp as a rag doll as he tumbled down the slippery rocks, as did the goat, who Althaia was sure had died by now. She watched Floki's body tumble down the cliff, supposibly unconscience, she figured. She pulled her thin frame precariously down the mountainside, though a near fall had her stop. Her injured leg bore the brunt of her weight as she fought to steady herself, and she gasped in pain. She tried to pick her way down in Floki's direction, but the going was slow, painfully so. It was instinct that sent her down the mountainside, after the fallen male, for she could not simply ignore him now. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Dash - June 20, 2016 It all happened almost two quickly for Dash to process everything. The stupid male who had thrown himself off the ledge had hit the goat, and it now tumbled towards them. He jerked to shove Ame out of the way, but she was already doing that herself. So, he leapt after her, the rolling prey barely missing him. He turned his head in time to see Charon getting a gash on his fast, and then Floki going down the mountain. Dash yelled out after him, but Althaia was already on her way down. The black wolf, who seen friend after friend get injured felt he could only do one thing now: revenge. His blood-thirsty eyes turned on the wolf who hung from the ledge. Dash leapt into action, a growl coming from his throat. He had practiced going up and down these mountains for months, and though the famine had dwindled his muscle mass, he used every bit he could to jump from ledge to ledge after to two retreating wolves. He gained on them, the need for vengeance coursing through his veins. RE: BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY - Charon - June 21, 2016 all correct, Kat, after my last post Charon started towards Peregrine/Fox!
To see his own brother hurtling towards the ledge with the ram only further fueled Charon's desire for revenge. Before only the fact they were taking their food and looking like Dhole was enough — but now the camel's back was really broken. He did not wait to see what happened to Flóki, seeing that Heldi was headed there almost immediately as soon as they had fallen. He didn't even look back to see whether his brother had survived. There was nothing he could do for his brother regardless of what state he was in. Others would take care of him. They would feast today, Charon decided, whether it was one of the rams they would find back or whether it was on the bodies of the wolves that had intruded on the hunt. A merciless snarl erupted from Charon's mouth as he watched the wolves start to flee. He only registered Dash at his side, mostly because his friend was faster and gained on Charon — and the two wolves — honouring his "Dash"y name. The young Alpha continued forward, ignoring the smarting on the right side of his face as he raced on, trying to catch up on the two intruders and Dash. Hopefully Dash would be able to stop them so that he could join on in. He had no idea what was going on behind him, nor did he stop to think who else was with the pair of them. All he could think about was ripping the two wolves they were following to shreds. |
