RE: For a mother, a brother and me - RIP Leo - February 12, 2016

He didn't know if he had got a hit on the other Alpha or visa versa. His rage had blinded his intelligence and all he wanted to do was protect Asterr. Leo's actions would have consequences.

From the corner of his eye, he could see another male (Farstep) charging for his throat. He was able to dodge the upcoming doom since that was the only fighting tactic he knew. Leo whipped around, hackles raised and teeth bared at his attacker. He was secretly hoping that the wolf wouldn't try anything else. If it was a blood he wanted, the youngster was in a world of trouble

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Taggarik - February 13, 2016

Ok! Kuro and I have agreed on an outcome for this thread (the RJ wolves are going to surrender and find a new territory), so in the interesting of moving this thread ahead since it ties up our characters, I am going to attempt to summarize and wrap this up with a cute little bow. There is some vague powerplay; do not hesitate to shoot me a PM if something doesn't work for you or your character. :)

No RJ wolf should be escaping this without injuries. Things happen fast (I encourage you to watch some clips of wolves fighting), and in a square off such as this, characters are not going to be able to simply avoid being attacked, especially given that one pack outnumbers and outmatches (in terms of age) the other pack.

Since there won't be a chance due to logistics to fully roleplay out the brief scuffle between all wolves, feel free to PM your "partner" to work out specific injuries, or otherwise, feel free to assume some bite marks and general soreness. I won't require severe injuries (unless that is worked out over PM), but in keeping with realism, I do require no RJ wolf escape unscathed. The PR wolves will have injuries as well!

She had no where to go and there was little she could do. Taggarik was mere inches from her when he launched his attack and was on her in less time than it took to blink, strking with his teeth against her face, and as she moved to defend herself, anything else that was in reach. He could have killed her, he overpowered her easily and the opportunity to be savage and merciless was his; but even in this heated, furious moment he was still restrained by his general benevolence.

His wolves took his command and engaged her supporters. In the end, the conflict was short lived. She could not escape and withered beneath his aggression and ferocity, and surrendered. Once it registered to him that she had done so, he signalled with several sharp barks and the motion of his tail for his wolves to stop the attack, while he stood snarling over her. Her own wolves, realizing their defeat, took their leader's cue and stood down. Thus the two packs disengaged.

Had she resisted his attack for just one second more, it's likely he would have ran her and her followers out then and there, splintering her pack, as the adrenaline of battle forbade any compassionate thoughts. But as it was, she submitted just in time, so long as she was smart enough to understand and appreciate his final, generous offer. His voice was growling, firm, and dreadfully cold.

"Gather your wolves and leave. Find some other place for you and your pack far away from here. Now."

I am thinking the easiest thing to do here is for Kuro to post again to lead her wolves out and to go find the rest of her pack; and then it can be a free for all for anyone to get their last replies in and such :) If there's some problem though, like I said, feel free to contact me. Large threads like these are difficult to manage, so I'm just trying to help get things all tidied up!

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Asterr - February 13, 2016

The initial burst of adrenaline had saved her from feeling the breaking of her skin immediately, but the moment that died away she was hit with a burning sensation. It was painful, though the wounds themselves not severe, as neither her body nor mind were accustomed to such. Her face seemed to feel worst than her shoulder, but her concern lingered on her followers rather than herself. It was a mystery, so far, of what had happened to them, and something she would end up not taking notice to until after their retreat. For the time being, she just assured herself of their hearts continuations to beat. As long as they left with their lives, then it was not a total loss—or, rather, not a total failure on her part.

When the attack was called off and a command given, Asterr could do nothing more than offer a curt nod. She'd pulled herself back up and gave the scene a fleeting, wary glance, taking a quick headcount. Asterr had chuffed, urging the tribe members to follow her. Uncertain of Noctura's current state of mind, she'd approached him and nudged the male's shoulder, insisting he walk with her. From there she'd gone to Leo, assisting him in moving along whether he truly needed it or not. In spite of the dragon and the girl's promise to him, she knew she could not risk another encounter with the ridge wolves. They would have to move a ways off, and she could only hope that the Dragon King might follow. So, hoping Semble had followed, too, she would then lead the small group away towards the cavern, where a meeting would be called and travel plans made.

Sayonara, ex-neighbours-to-be~! ^^ Thanks for the thread, everyone.

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Farstep - February 13, 2016

The pack surged forward as one with the blinding speed that characterized their species. Farstep's attack missed its mark as the youth twisted away from him, surprisingly fast on its feet. The mercenary's paw skidded on the wet snow below him, the miss unexpected, and he corrected himself with a half-bound. Leo was given almost no time to put distance between himself and his assailant. Farstep pressed the assault too quickly, rushing forward as soon as he found his footing, and he snapped for the boy's face once more.

His teeth caught on flesh and he reared back his head, dragging his upper jaw along the youth's snout and leaving angry red welts to bubble slowly with blood. He felt a sharp pinch somewhere in the region of the side of his neck, causing him to snarl painfully and pull back before either of them could get a good grip on the other. The guardian didn't get a third opportunity. As he arranged his paws for another lunge, Taggarik stole his attention with a sharp woof and the beta male rallied to his leader's side.

Only then did he realize that the mountain clan was defeated. Their alpha female submitted, and by her actions, so did the rest of the pack fall. He pulled long breaths through his nose, noting a dampness on the side of his neck where either Leo or someone else had got a decent bite in, and awaited further action from his alphas. When none was taken and the mountain wolves left with their pride in shambles, the beta finally stood down, allowing himself to sink to the snow and roll across it, leaving a pinkish smear from the wound in the crook of his neck and shoulder.

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Diane - February 13, 2016

The seconds were long in a fight. It seemed like an eternity had happened before Taggarik sharply called back his pack, and she found herself in a line at the Ridge borders, her gaze wild and frightened. Adrenaline kept her hackles raised and her muscles taut despite the surrender of the opposing wolves. She desperately wanted to be relieved of the nefarious energy coursing through her, daunted by what it had done to her.

She had leapt into battle! Fur blazing and teeth bared. Where had she learned such a thing? The only times she had ever bared her teeth before had been in grins and grimaces, and just a week away from her roots and she had already had her first fight. Diane recalled the instant regret she had felt, as her teeth clipped the enemy and he in turn snapped back at her, cruelly piercing the flesh of her forearm. She felt confused by what had driven her to fight in spite of her injury, and belatedly she realized it was the first time another wolf had ever broken her skin...

A raw and unbidden hate crawled through her as she stood with her pack, and though she didn't recognize the dark emotion, shame came overwhelmingly with it. She pulled her ears back and took several small steps backwards. She'd barely moved at all, gold eyes still intent on those retreating. Diane wanted to leave as the others disappeared and the tension in the air began to dissipate, but she didn't quite feel dismissed yet.

Remembering her body, she could suddenly feel a harsh stinging in her forearm, and she peered sadly at her first wolfborne wound. She bent and arched her neck to lick the toothmarks left in the wake of a territory skirmish. Her ears rotated as she tended to her wound, listening for moment the Alphas might address this thing... whatever it had been.

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Semble - February 13, 2016

Semble was taken aback when two wolves were growling at him, wanting to start a dispute. This wasn't who Semble was, he didn't want to hurt others or himself. He just got protective of his alpha and was going to have to pay. That didn't seem very fair, did it? Then again life wasn't far. Although it was two against one, Semble was a tall and strong wolf. He didn't think death would occur in the situation but someone was bound to get hurt.

A girl had snapped at him, leaving a small mark on his shoulder. It wasn't too large of a wound, and not much blood had come out of it. His reaction was much more dire than hers, leaving a wound on her forearm. He lowered his ears, once realizing he had hurt another wolf. The white male didn't mean to hurt anyone, it was out of sheer adrenaline and reaction. He managed to bark a regretful, "I'm sorry!" before backing away himself. Knowing the other white wolf was next to him.

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Relmyna - February 13, 2016

diane flew to her side, a true remnant of the hunting goddess for which she was named, and between the pair of them they threatened the pale wolf on the opposing side. vuk herself only sliced the air harmlessly between them, but her packmate and their opponent shared blows.

the girl gave a feral snarl as her companion retreated, toothmarks showing plainly in her flesh, and would have soared to slash the male for his error, had not their companies immediately pulled away from one another. her gaze, hard as the turquoise that shared its color, followed the interlopers as they fled, and then she immediately turned her attention to diane, seeking to bathe her wound if she was allowed.

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Noctura - February 14, 2016

The smaller but quicker Alpha Female swiftly drew blood upon his broad shoulder, taking smart advantage of his defensive position, but then her own blood dripped upon his flashing teeth. The moment she recoiled even for a second, Noctura took the opportunity to dive for the Alpha Male in turn, for the dark stranger's attack of Asterr filled him with unruly fire. Two sharp fangs grazed black fur deeply, and blurs and flashes of lingering battle continued fleetingly before it ended as quickly as it had begun.

Noctura did not know how, but somehow he found himself walking obediently at Asterr's side, deep breathing emerging in the form of continued growls, crimson droplets in his trail. His eyesight was hazy in some kind of savage madness, and sometime soon his thoughts would return. It would not be a pleasant moment for him.

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Capriccio - February 14, 2016

@Jhala -- assuming Jhala had not participated in the fight.. It didn't exactly seem fair to be PPing a character in a fight.
She was swift where he was large and heavy -- her slender form twisted to catch her teeth upon his shoulder, inflicting injury before she would try to shift away, but his own muzzle sought to reconcile  what she had done, his teeth sliding across the top of her snout angrily and clipping her cheek before she managed to pull away. A guttural snarl escaped her, her jaws snapping toward the man, but he took that short moment to push himself toward Taggarik -- the man he had truly wanted to begin with.

Desperate at first to not have the swarthy man have two wolves upon him, Capri was fleet footed as she made to pull Noctura back to battle -- but it was done. Taggarik called them off, and she did not begrudge this decision -- the Ryujin wolves had fallen.

Her gaze was cold upon them as Asterr gathered her pack. The she-wolf had been given a choice, and after initiating the fight by pissing upon their borders (an act Capri would no doubt hear about after, when she requested the full details from Tagg), she had she had tried to assert a dominance over what had been a fair demand to begin with. Now, they would pull themselves from the land entirely, rather than simply place their marker back just a bit more.

Capri's eyes softened as she noted Taggarik, a low croon escaping her as she drifted tentatively closer to him. Gone was the searing anger that ignited just by his sight, and her slender muzzle would tip upward to touch her nose gently to his cheek, if he allowed it.

But she did not linger. Her own paws swept her to her comrades, noting the blood that stained the once pristine snow. Farstep was rolling upon it -- the pink that remained once he moved away the tale of his own wounds. Jhala had done nothing -- something Capri did not understand, given how battle hungry the Beta had been.

Her paws lead her to the gentle Diane and Vuk -- both of whom had leapt forward in battle, despite their nature. A gentle whine emanated from her as she approached, her worried eyes drifting between the two as she made to softly assess them for any wounds. "Are you both okay?"

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - Jhala - February 14, 2016

I understand (: Too crazy for me- going to tie it into the plan that Taggarik asked of her- that seems a little more realistic.

Jhala had stopped herself with enough time, watching from a distance as her paws ached to join. With a heavy heart and a thirst to fight, she remained controlled. She didn't know the outcome of this battle, but she was well aware of what Taggarik had asked of her. This fight may put that in jeopardy- although it almost seemed as though it wouldn't ever occur. She waiting patiently, mostly ready to be at the aid of any injured pack members, her amber eyes focused on each fight as she looked for signs of weakness or that her packmates needed help.
The battle was soon over, and the girl was a bit irritated that she hadn't fought. No practice and she probably now had no reason to not participate. Her only fear now was that Capri and Taggarik frowned upon her lack of efforts, but she sucked it up and did whatever she could now- even with her lack of medicine knowledge. She was going to check on Diane and Vuk- she knew the two females and figured that they would be comfortable with her helping them. Instead- however, Capriccio got there first, and she instead turned to her co-rank as he appeared nearest.

The male rolled in the snow, leaving a trail behind him. She gave a gentle whine to him, hoping he'd understand her silent question of his wellbeing. She lowered herself to where he laid, tail thumping as she asked permission to nudge at his wounds. She didn't know much about healing- just the basics- but if someone else did she'd be glad to follow orders and help to mend.

RE: For a mother, a brother and me - RIP Leo - February 16, 2016

A sharp whine escaped his maw as the rival struck at his snout. He could feel and smell blood coming from where he attacked. By instinct he knew that he needed to counter somehow, so Leo gripped his teeth onto the male's neck. Before either could do real damage however, the attack was called off, and Farstep released him.

It didn't take long for the youngster to recoil back to Asterr and willingly follow her out.
