RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Wraen - April 15, 2018 "It is not a widely known term," Wraen explained. It was very likely that she was the only person in the world using it. "But it means a good friend that is a man - no subtext implied," she added for good measure, in case Sebastian still was not convinced that the lovely, forward and outgoing girl he had met did not harbour any sinister motives. "We are here," she told him, though ducks were a long distance away from them still. "Be my guest, sit down and don't utter a sound," she told him and went off to thin the flock a little. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Sebastian - April 16, 2018 Sebastian nodded quickly. "I see," he commented after she explained what the word manfriend meant. She could have easily used friend in his opinion but he didn't feel the need to correct her. "I've never heard the word before, but sure, I will be your manfriend," he then agreed. The wolf followed her until she said that he should stay put. Sebastian listened as he was quite tired already. So he had no problem in waiting and being quiet. He went to lie down and watch the female head off. Sebastian placed his head on his paws, eyes closing. His body was tired. A meal would do him well. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Wraen - April 16, 2018 The first one. Wraen added mentally, but since Sebastian had proven to be easy to embarrass (who would have known with a man his age), she kept this remark to herself as well. Duck hunting she went and duck hunting she did, and after some failed attempts, use of Sunny's advice in goose-tackling, some wit, skill and luck she managed to take one duck down. It did not let out a sound, though the rest of the flock did - quacking and flapping, and heading in full speed to the water. And by the time Wraen was ready to hunt another one, her only option was going in the water and swimming after them. "Not today," she said to herself, picked up that one duck and brought it back to her companion, finding out that he had taken a siesta. "You are not dead, are you?" she nudged him lightly with her paw. "Not that I would mind, but it would be terribly inconvenient for me and - come to think of it - kind of rude as well to die here." RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Sebastian - April 20, 2018 Sebastian wasn't too far away and could hear the splashes and quacking. He did doze off a bit as he was tired from the wall and recovering did take some rest from his body. He hadn't noticed that the female came closer until he heard her talk. This was followed by a friendly nudge. He lifted his head. "Not dead," he confirmed. Though it was clear he was alive since he opened his eyes and lifted his head. "I do not plan on dying. I just became a medic and want to help others. And well, make myself an example of surviving a major injury," he explained to the young female. "Do you have plans? Something you like to do in life?," he asked curiously. He was keen on finding his siblings, mostly his sister's pack so he could recover better. He would starve if he stayed a lone wolf for too long. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Wraen - April 21, 2018 "A medic you say?" well that was good news, because Moonspear didn't have anyone among the ranks, who had more ideas about healing than the simple - eat the grass and wait it exit you either one way or the other. "My pack - Sunspire - is currently in need of an experienced medic. Thought you should know, in case you ever decided to change living quarters," she didn't believe that her half-hearted attempt to recruit Sebastian would work and therefore did not put too much hope in her words either. "Me? Well... ah... becoming a good hunter and dabble a little in story-telling and probably enjoy the life inbetween," she answered with a good natured grin. Then she remembered about the lunch she had promised and nudged the duck in Sebastian's direction. "Dig in!" she ordered him. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Sebastian - April 23, 2018 Sebastian nodded. He felt ready to call himself a medic now. It was a long process but the male knew that he could at least treat wounds and recognize some illnesses. He was not by far a master at it but one day he might. 'Sunspire huh? Well, I don't think I would ever leave the Redhawks but if that time comes and I am in need of a home I will think about this offer," he spoke to the female. Though he wasn't sure if he would ever leave them. He sometimes wanted to but he hadn't gathered the courage since they were his friends. "Well, by the looks of it, you will become a good hunter. I'm a hunter as well but I specialize in fishing," he explained. He had grown up with big river fish. It was quite different from deer meat, same that duck was different from the latter. He didn't let her tell him that twice. Sebastian grabbed the duck and attacked it hungrily. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Wraen - April 23, 2018 "If you ever do - ask for Rannoch, Liffey or Terance and refer to me," Wraen replied happy that he had not turned down her offer entirely. There was something in this whole business of being declined that she did not like and feared. Even if there was nothing bad in the refusal itself. She watched him gobble down the duck and was struck with the idea of, how very good that she was not in that duck's place. Osprey had told her once that cannibalism among wolves could happen, especially under very desperate circumstances. What these were, were left up to Wraen's own imagination. "Fishing - I would have never thought of it. From your size and looks, I would have thought that you battle moose single-handedly daily and slay dragons as a Sunday treat," she mused. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Sebastian - April 25, 2018 Sebastian nodded to the female. He would call out for them. Sebastian tried to remember their names. Who knows when he would stumble upon her pack or needed refuge. And of course, mention that he knew Wraen. Sebastian continued eating the duck. The only downside was all the feathers that would sometimes get stuck between his teeth or make him sneeze. Sebastian shook his head. "Although, when I lived in Broken Antler Fen we did have a lot of moose. Though we preferred fish." Sebastian had to chuckle at the compliment. "You think far too highly of me," he pointed out to the girl. Though deep down he had to admit that he was charmed by the girl. He liked to think he was strong enough to take down a moose. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Wraen - April 26, 2018 "Do I?" Wraen arched an eyebrow and accompanied her question with a playful grin. She might be mistaken, but the wolf-dog Bernard was only slightly bigger than this guy, so in her opinion all the potential for moose tackling was already there. He just had to get better. "Fishing would be a useful skill to learn," she mused, wondering, if there were any rivers or lakes big enough to house edible number of fish, and coming to a conclusion that there were none. This would mean going down to the flatlands to the lakes. "Do you excel in any other areas of hunting? Being small myself I go for small game and birds. It has been self-teaching and lots of practice and failed attempts for me up until now, but still - I would be happy to have someone, who could advise me in the craft." RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Sebastian - May 04, 2018 Sebastian nodded but didn't say more about it, he also didn't feel like pointing out why she thought so highly of him. The male quirks up his lips when she started about fishing. Sebastian nodded once more. "Yes, it is, but only when your pack has enough bodies of water. Also deep enough for the bigger fish to come," he explained. "My other hunting trade is that of tracking. I do enjoy a good puzzle of where an animal might be. Fish are very hard to track, so that is why I like to track small game or even foxes to see what they are up to," he spoke. "But I am sure with being a small game your tracking is already good," he complimented himself now. RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Wraen - May 05, 2018 "Tracking - well, I am kind of good," Wraen shrugged, though she was not entirely confident that she knew everything there was to know about the specialty in question. If you judged everything by the fact that she had survived this long and far - then - yes - she was okay. If you compared her skills to Sebastian, who was almost three times her senior, then she was probably still in diapers, regarding the skill and efficiency. "Should I see that you get home safely?" she asked, thinking that it was time she should return to Sunspire. "That's what one should do on a date, right?" she teased him playfully. "Though - you tell me, you have probably been in this world way longer than myself." RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Sebastian - May 06, 2018 Sebastian dipped his head. He could assume one was good enough with tracking. It was part of hunting, but still, he liked to do it. He might as well specialise in it. The topic ended there, same for his meal. He finished it. He was glad to have it. He could feel his belly taking strength from the new fuel she had given him. Sebastian felt slightly flustered before he collected himself. "Normally one would," he agreed with a nod. "But since I am half way to the plateau I might as well try and visit my sister. Feel free to walk with me to the plains by the great lake," he offered. He felt stronger thanks to the meal and perhaps he could make it to Morningside and tell his sister he was alive. "I promised her I would visit her after the war to show her that I was still alive and kicking," he explained to Wraen. Little did he know that he wouldn't get that far at all. Though he would meet another relative on those travels, but that was all in the future..... RE: And I risk it all for this life we choose - Wraen - May 09, 2018 "Giddy up then and let's go," Wraen replied, springing to her feet (and in case she had been standing already, then made a little jump on the spot). She accompanied Sebastian as far as the Hoshor plains - there she turned for home at Sunspire - and uknown to her he would eventually settle down to be her close neighbour. |
