When the girl drifted to sleep, Kasmut wrapped a coat around her and slipped from the room to find her own place of peace.
The pale woman thought of the Pharaoh. She would make sure that Belen was good to him, that she grew into a beautiful thing. She would be all that he could want of a Fellahin. Kasmut daydreamed of these things until sleep claimed her, as well.
