RE: You oughta know by now - Fallen Sun - June 02, 2023

Bae?

He looked intently at the little creature. The names of things were always quite exciting, he discovered, and Lauh seemed to be just as willing to bark out the sounds of things as he was at wanting to learn what they were.

Bae! Bae!

So many words! His tail wagged.

She laughed as the creature buzzed away. "Beee, not bae," She chuckled. A bit of guidance couldn't hurt- after all, he might've gotten confused some day when he wandered toward the ocean and was told that he'd come to a bay- which sounded about the same as the way he'd been pronouncing 'bee'.

She went next to a tree, and placed her paw on it. "Name: twee-ah" She rolled her eyes at her own mistake. "No. Name [i]tree, turrrrreee," She enunciated, doing her best to beat her rhotacism for his sake.

He followed her into the tree's shadow, putting his paw on it as she had. The sound next was... new. trayee?

trea.

tree?

Trees were good things. They provided shade in the summer and sticks to chew on when one was exceedingly bored and there was nothing else to do. Not that Fallen Sun had much experience with boredom lately.

Lauh was exceedingly interesting and the opposite of boredom.

"Eeeeee," She coached, softly, as he found his way through the word. She'd begun to realize how important it was to be aware of just how the vowels were shaped- and that by having her mouth more open or closed would change the sound significantly. Which part of her tongue arched also seemed to make a difference as well- minute skills she was just beginning to realize she'd taken for granted.

"Yup, tree," She said. "What nektht?" She asked, tilting her head. He seemed to understand when a question was being asked- and she was curious to know what things he wanted a name for after simple things like bee and tree.

Fallen Sun, however, noticed that his throat hurt. Noises that wolves could understand, if one did not know how to do so, were hard on vocal cords. Thirst consumed his thoughts, followed by hunger and sleep, but the threads of excitement over that which had transpired still sparkled in his eyes.

His whine even sounded hoarse, and he gave one final woof in an attempt to see if it even sounded like anything.

Wahrr. The male licked his muzzle, looking for something to quench his thirst.

And then, perhaps, he would look for food.

Did Lauh have food?

Fallen Sun was pretty easy to understand, when his request was so simple. Lilia nodded, and licked her own lips. "Sure, we can go fin' thome water. There'th gotta be thome around here," She said, happy to get back to exploring the cache, and find out what use it might have. She wished she had some knowledge of plants, but at least knowing that there were many here would be useful to someone, she was sure.

As she walked along, she tried to make note of the different flowers she saw blooming, though the flora was so diverse and plentiful she felt fairly certain she wouldn't be able to memorize and properly recall the distinction of each different plant. Only a few seemed to stick out to her- and would have been identified as foxglove, lady's slipper and triliums. The more useful herbs had particular scents, while the flowers smelled like something she ought to be wary of.

Perhaps something here might be useful for Raelle- she'd keep that in mind.

It was almost difficult to scent water over the smell of flowers, given how prevalent they were. "Lot-tha flowerth, huh?" She asked rhetorically as they roved along. "Oh- I know that one," She said, pointing to a white flower with a sunny, yellow centre. "It'th name ith Daithy," She said.
