The scars left on the mountain made him shiver when paired with the story that Treepie told. Katmai stared at it a moment longer, remembering the most devastating storm of his own life. The earth had moved then, too — did that place look like this one, now?
He pushed these thoughts out of his mind and followed, but the next sight did not fill him with any more confidence. He stole a little glance at Treepie while she wasn't looking, his worry for her ever increasing. He was not sure that he liked Moonspear. He was not sure he didn't dislike Moonspear. But, if it meant that Treepie would no longer wander these sights alone? Perhaps it would be worthwhile.
Katmai tried to keep an open mind a he followed after his host.
