RE: know who you are - Rian - June 09, 2017 *pops back in*
A rush of adrenaline raced through his body like lightning when the plan moved quickly into motion. He welcomed it, embraced it firmly, and freed his mind of everything except their goal—just like his mother had taught him countless moons ago. His claws dug troughs into the highland detrius as he surged out like a bullet from their hiding place. One ear twisted as the skittering of pebbles and ragged, rythmic pants, signaled Cypress' departure from the location only a half-beat later. He felt the longer ruff of his cousin's pelt tickle his own shaggy guard hairs and took a moment to wave his tail leeward to brush over Cypress' own as they pounded across the slope in a gesture of faith and adoration. As the pair neared, the goat juked then bolted towards Rannoch as the three wolves now herded it towards the largest of them. Surely Rannoch had the stopping power to bring it down. Rian cast a look off in the distance and spotted two gray ears peaking up from below the hillock, and his heart lept for joy. It was working! RE: know who you are - Cypress - June 10, 2017 Snaking his muzzle forward, Cypress snapped at the fleeing ungulate’s heels, tasting the copper of blood hot and thick and heady on his tongue. It was easy to forgive Tryp for trypping up — the plan was working flawlessly, and the silver-maned Frostfur had a deep respect for wolves who exuded competence. Slowly, maybe a little reluctantly, Tryp ticked back up a notch in Cy’s esteem, though he was still inclined to be prickly toward the new wolf. Seeing Rannoch at such close proximity only added to the older littermate’s excitement — his mouth, even the ruined left side, was pulled back into an exaggerated wolf grin as he tossed a few warbling wolf barks at his brother. RE: know who you are - Rannoch’s Ghost - June 12, 2017 Time seemed to slow as the prey closed the distance between the looming predator. Any noise that sounded in the background was nearly unrecognizable to the wide-set man as he attempted to hone his attention from the chaos around them and towards the end goal: their catch. He struck when the time was right, surging forward with force once the young animal had stepped too close to where Rannoch lurked. Rian and Cypress had done an excellent job of ensuring that it did not stray from the intended path and with the ball now in his court, Rannoch had to make sure that it was brought down and killed quickly. He made sure of this as he collided into the other's side, forcing it onto its side as the eldest Frostfur brother forced his weight on the other. The goat flailed helplessly as Rannoch moved swiftly from on top of it, aiming for the delicate flesh beneath its chin. Avoiding hooves that threatened to dismount him, Rannoch made the others death swift, reaching to its neck and clamping down with force until the goat's life had been abruptly taken away. Once Rannoch was certain that it was dead, he relinquished his hold and dismounted, his bright eyes shining in the light of their victory. "Wonderful job," he praised them all, his eyes shifting from each face until they fell upon Tryp. "Especially you, Tryp," rumbled Rannoch, the edges of his lips tugging with fondness as he addressed the golden-haired man. "I think you've proven your worth to us," he elaborated, his attention seeking his brothers as he offered the floor to them to hear their opinions, "Do either of you have any objections?" Silence met the Alpha as his voice faded and he looked to his brother's expectantly in an attempt to gauge their feelings. Offered only positivity, in the form of nods, Rannoch quickly returned the gesture and turned back to the interviewee with a smile. "Tryp, we'd like to invite you to join us," said the makeshift leader. "You've proven yourself, and we'd be lucky to have you." The offer was quickly received and accepted and, to Rannoch's delight, their numbers had grown by one. "Now, come on, let's dig in before this gets cold," he offered, referring to the chilling corpse at their paws. The four young men would feast then, enjoying the fruits of their labor and teamwork. |
