Fish on! - Olly - July 03, 2015

As the bright fiery sun descended from the sky, Olly emerged from the bottom of a lake in all his otter glory. Although he already loved the creek he called home, he had come to realized that fish was his main course there. He enjoyed the trout that swam through the rapids, but the taste of them had become repetitive and dull. Olly had realized he needed something knew, something to refresh his palate.

Thanks to his energetic personality and the glorious otter body he was blessed with, Olly arrived at the lake within a few days time. So here he was feasting on the frogs near the water's edge, and relaxing like a king would. After his stomach was satisfied and full, he paddled to shore where he plopped on his back to play with his favorite toy -- a rock.

RE: Fish on! - Shiv - July 04, 2015

The bird watched the strange creature from her perch in the trees surrounding the lake, blending effortlessly into the dappled shadows — stealth mode. She was no owl, but she felt she had hidden her presence as well as she could, for the small water-dwelling animal hadn't noticed her. Instead, it seemed to be distracted by some rocks. Before it had been frogs. Odd.

It was no wolf pup, or fox or any other creature Shiv was familiar with. She murmured incoherently under her breath for a few moments as she determined whether or not it was safe to approach, before suddenly diving from the branch she was on. It was only small, and didn't seem to have fearsome teeth or claws. Shiv would peck it's eyes out if it tried anything.

Fluttering onto a nearby boulder, the magpie tilted her head curiously at the brown, shiny critter. She was half-tempted to steal the rock from it, wondering why it was so fascinating. Instead, she released a loud chirp in an attempt to get it's attention.

There he was enjoying his rock, when out of nowhere a chirping sound filled his tiny ears. Immediately he pulled the rock in close to his chest, and wiggled so that he was resting on his side. His dark brown eyes scanned the area for any danger, but all he saw was a black and white bird on a boulder.

Not realizing that the chirp was to get his attention,  Olly rolled back onto his back to continue playing with the rock. After a few more throws with the stone, he allowed it to glide off his stomach and hit the ground with a small thud. Instead of entertaining himself with something new, he decided it was time for some grooming.

Could she frown, a most irritated expression would have fallen across her features when the creature ignored her call. It turned, momentarily glancing at her, before going back to playing with it's rock. Was it daft? How did it not realise she had so clearly asked for it's attention. With ruffled feathers, the magpie began to strut forward, pausing as the critter decided to start grooming itself.

With a few more steps, Shiv walked around it, moving towards the rock it had discarded. She inspected it with a tilt of her head, noting nothing special about it, before looking in the direction of the preening animal. "You," she chirped indignantly, hoping that would get it's attention.
