Checking in - Burke - July 08, 2015

@Lusa and Possibly the babies later on? @Baldur @Peridot @Chevalier

Burke knew the pups had been born already but he wanted to give the two newly parents some privacy and bonding time with their babies. But as their alpha he couldn't really ignore the fact that they had some new additions to the family and he would need to congratulate them. Ayana and him already brought a freshly hunted deer corse to her den. Burke was glad his old den was put to a good use. He was big compared to Lusa so she and her babies would have fitted more than well.

Burke's heavy footsteps announced his arrival. A soft hum coming from his throat. He didn't want an angry Grimnir to be launched at him. Burke was a respectful alpha. "Lusa?," he called out curiously. He wasn't going to tell his name because it was clear that it was him. He didn't need to announce his name. He stepped closer and peeked inside the den. He didn't really need to see the squirming balls of fluff but he did wanted to check upon Lusa. See if Grim had changed.

RE: Checking in - DeadLusa - July 08, 2015

Her puppies were moving around more than usual today. Peridot was climbing and chewing on Baldur's fur. Chev, had moutain climbed her black fur, and he finally made it to the top. Now he was sqealing with shock, but that lead to the downfall of his short-lived achievement. All of the squirming made him fall to the ground, making him scream even more. So Lusa bought him inbetween her paws, nuzzling his creamy fur.

Her head shot up to the entrance as she heard the sound of Bruke's voice. "I'm in a deeper part of the den," she called. The first part was slightly bigger than the nursery. She'd rather keep her pups in a smaller part so she could keep a close eye on them.

RE: Checking in - Burke - July 08, 2015

Burke's ears perked up when he heard the squeaks followed by Lusa's voice. "I don't want to offend Grimnir by entering," he spoke on his calm and respectful voice. Only if she insisted he would enter but since the male shared so much with Burke he would like to keep the light peace they had now. Grimnir would probably be offended by him entering his family's den even though he was the alpha. Burke's thought stopped for a moment. He was the alpha. Grimnir would just have to accept his scent. Burke grabbed the dead raccoon he brought with him and then entered the home. She made it different. Burke liked that she made it her own.

The alpha male stayed in the bigger chamber since he wouldn't fit in the small room with Lusa and the babies. He did hand her the Raccoon. "A meal for you and you can keep the fur for the pups to sleep on or something," he spoke with the hint of a smile. "I want to congratulate on the successful birth. Of course your young will be happily welcomed in the pack. I think I can also speak for Meldresi that she wishes she could be here to see them," he spoke.

RE: Checking in - DeadLusa - July 08, 2015

She was going to go against Bruke's statement. She was the one who went through all the trouble of labor, so she would lay down the law in here. But she didn't have to, for Bruke came in anyways. She watched as a dead raccoon slid from the second entrance. She stood, nudging Knight to his brother and sister, before she went up to face Bruke.

"Thank you Bruke," she replied with a smile. She could always do with food and skins. She always used the skins to warm the puppies when she went outside to get a drink. "I rekon you are here to take a look at the pups? You're welcome to go see. I'll wait out here." She usually wouldn't do this, but she trusted Bruke not to do any harm. It wasn't like she could follow him in there anyways. The nursery was so small, it could barley fit the whole family. She would usually have to squeeze her body around Grimnir tightly to fit.

RE: Checking in - Burke - July 09, 2015

Burke was pleased that Lusa realized now that he was here to help and that she trusted him in her den by her newborns. If Lusa had trust in him then Grimnir might keep his trust in him too. They talked after all and it was a good talk. He would have to be critic because Grim never told Lusa about his murdering voices, that was something he would need to tell her himself. Burke wasn't going to tell Lusa that. "You are very welcome," Burke returned. Burke laid down because sitting wasn't really an option.

"No that is fine. I don't need to see them I bet I will see them enough once they join my lessons," he spoke and then showed a smile at her. He had told himself that he wasn't going to teach Grimnir's young but after his talk with the recent father Burke was sure it would help him a lot if he had a bond with any of his young from the beginning, if they might have voices too, then they would trust him already. "I talked to Grim and we have come to an agreement. You are a good pack member Lusa so your young deserve to be educated. You've seen Meldresi's young. Now I wouldn't offer this for anyone but I am willing to teach your young too." And technically Burke was the caretaker of this pack. Plus Burke thought it was a great honor for Lusa too, that the alpha male would bother with teaching her young. Or at least help out. He wasn't going to take on the father role as he did with the spiderlings.

RE: Checking in - DeadLusa - July 19, 2015

She nodded her head, pleased by the way he wanted to help her children. After Grimnir attack on Potema, she didn't expect anyone to care for his young. She was happy the Alpha was willing to teach them. She didn't want the others to judge her children for what Grim has done in the past. Besides, he was still loyal to Blackfeather. No one could doubt that. So she thought. The others hadn't spent as much time with him as she did.

"Thank you for caring so much for the children Bruke. I really appreciate it."

RE: Checking in - Burke - July 20, 2015

Burke nodded courtly when Lusa thanked her. He would want to begin training soon or at least socialising with them. He was a big figure he couldn't have them be cared of him. Or well, only a bit scared because then they would listen to him. He didn't want to be their father but it seemed Grim was around more than enough for that.  "Okay I might want to see them," he then spoke with a soft grunt, peeking inside now his eyes were adjusted.

As he expected he saw thee wiggling potatoes of fluffy fur. "Right," he pointed out, remembering his past when they had too many pups to take care of which was their downfall, definitely. "Do you still need anything? Did the birthing go okay?" He didn't know much about birthing really and Meldresi hadn't been there to help her.

RE: Checking in - DeadLusa - July 25, 2015

A slight smile spread across her face as Bruke peeked in the other chamber to see the puppies. To be honest, she was quite proud of them. What mother wouldn't be? They would grow into fine warriors someday.

Do you still need anything? Did the birthing go okay?

"I think I'll be fine until sunset." She didn't like to have to ask too much from her packmates. They had other things to do rather than help her. Besides, she hadn't had any trouble with mothering. "Birthing was... painful, she answered. The thought almost sent a shiver down her spine. "But it's ok now. No deformities or deaths. Everything went smoothly." She was a bit surpriesed that she had no dead puppies, but she was grateful for that blessing.

RE: Checking in - Burke - July 26, 2015

Burke was surprised at her comment. Fine until Sunset? What happened at Sunset? Burke didn't know, maybe it was a mother thing. He nodded slowly like he understood but basically he had no clue. He was not a man that would fuzz over babies. He only started liking the spiderlings after they started to talk and he got to train them. Before that babies were basically useless. They would only feed, poop, sleep. He was glad he wasn't a female. "Congrats," he spoke. "I'm glad of that. Some mothers don't take death well."

Burke then decided he would leave the mother be. "Howl if you need anything. I'm serious. Do you promise?," Burke asked. He didn't want Lusa to suffer because she thought she couldn't call for help.

RE: Checking in - DeadLusa - July 28, 2015

Fade next post?

She nodded at his words. "Yes, I would never want to go through that." She couldn't even begin to imagine that. Sure, it would be new and you haven't yet bonded with it, but seeing a newborn pup die would be horrible. It wouldn't have the chance to see life at all.

Howl if you need anything. I'm serious. Do you promise?

"Cross my heart and hope to die." She placed a paw on her chest and made the sign of a 'x'. "I think I should go back to my puppies. They get restless when I'm gone for awhile." With those words said, she went back into the small chamber with her pups.

RE: Checking in - Burke - July 28, 2015

Yes!

Burke nodded courtly. "Good," he spoke after she promised to call for help if she needed any. "Yes, go back to your squirming potatoes," he snorted. "Make them strong wolves, we could use them," he added before leaving the den that was his own only months ago. He was glad it found a new purpose. He had a new home after all.

Burke trotted away, having other duties to do before the daylight would settle over Black Feather.

End thread.
