The King of Carrot Flowers - Reek - August 01, 2015 @Ryker Photo Reference:
While the maplewood was more than any of the Ex-Redtails could have asked for, there were aspects of the Rise that Reek pined for. First and foremost, Reek missed the view. The maplewood may have been beautiful and full of life, but there was something about viewing the world from a mountain top. A view like that could make a man feel small, but in a good way; a humbling experience. Secondly, and more selfish than the first, Reek missed the waterfall that he had claimed for the last few weeks in the Rise... the sheer novelty of his brief hideaway had been unmatched, and Reek was hard pressed to find a place as perfect to set up his permanent home. In fact, Reek had yet to dig a den for himself and Saena. Instead he slept under the cover of maple trees for the time being— but if their claim was to remain permanent, sleeping under the stars every night would not do (no matter how romantic it was). Reek followed a stream that swept though the maplewood in the hopes of finding a place reminiscent of his previous beach front property. Upon reaching a rocky and moss covered alcove offset by the stream, Reek knew he had found home. Nodding to only himself, he grinned like an idiot and set out to widen the natural opening with his excited digging. RE: The King of Carrot Flowers - Ryker - August 09, 2015 Ryker had yet to find a place to call home here in the Maplewood. He had been stuck with sleeping by any tree he felt fit. Although what didn't help was his annoying neighbors who liked to sleep anywhere on his fur they deemed fit. Stupid flies His tail twitched in annoyance as he repeatedly flicked his ears in an attempt to get the fly to let him be. He trailed through the forest but paused as he heard the sound of digging. He peered through the trees and spotted the familiar black pelt of the Alpha male. Ryker trotted over smiling. Reek had found a great place to dig his den and admittedly Ryker was a tad jealous. This spot was beautiful. Moss and all. "Nice place," he said with a hint of envy in his voice. He was careful to avoid getting dirt chucked on him as he approached. He bowed his head slightly out of respect for the male. "I'm jealous," he teased tail twitching. "I'm stuck currently sleeping with these buggars," he said twitching his shoulders as some of the not so friendly flies had once again taken residence. Ryker wasn't sure how much a den would help but still. If it rained he would get drenched. "I don't see what's so lovely about my fur but they see to enjoy annoying the heck out of me," he said with an sarcastic tone. His eyes narrowed as a fly briefly landed on his muzzle. Taunting him because it was just out of reach of his tongue. RE: The King of Carrot Flowers - Reek - August 23, 2015 So sorry for the wait on this one! It totally got away from me! Oh, and tagging Saena for reference purposes!
A cascade of dirt was sent flying backwards at the paws of the ragged alpha as he frantically expanded the space inside the alcove to make it somewhat livable. It was humble, much like the den he had shared with Wynter in terms of size. While the waterfall he shared with @Saena had been a better home by leaps and bounds, their new creak-side hole would make due in the meantime. Well, at least once Saena weighed in on the matter, it would be home. So taken with his work, Reek hardly noticed Ryker's approach and subsequent approval of the spot he had picked. "Be jealous," prodded Reek in a joking tone as he popped his head back out of the entrance hole. "You don't think it's too dark though?" he asked, hoping to gauge Ryker's input before running it by the missus. While Ryker complained about the bugs in the Maplewood (which for some reason, hadn't bothered Reek one bit), he returned to his painstaking work inside the alcove. "You going to sit there and complain some more, or are you going to help me dig?" he yelled from inside the dark interior, playfully inviting Ryker in to take a look around... and work, of course. |
