cool for the summer - Regipre - September 03, 2015 Meant for @Zaria but others are welcome too. :)
Today marked six weeks since the pups' dramatic birthday. To mark it, Reggie wriggled forth from the family's burrow and went wandering, though she didn't stray far. She was bold and fearless, yet she wasn't stupid. She unknowingly took after her father by doing her best to conceal herself at every step. The long, dry grasses of the plains were good for it. The young coyote was nearly invisible as she wove through the brittle golden shoots. She came to a small clearing and found a bone discarded by her mother. Regipre dropped her snout and sniffed at it while keeping her eyes ahead. She began to mouth it; it felt good against her small teeth. Eventually, she grasped the knobby end and dragged it back into the high grass to chew on it in peace, her faded eyes peeking blandly from the swaying stalks. RE: cool for the summer - Zaria - September 04, 2015 Zaria was still looking for he poison stash maybe they removed it or relocated it. Zaria wasn't very keen on looking for new rhubarb leaves, since these ones she had especially collected and rolled in a thick bed of the dried golden grass. The slender little girl moved through the high grasses, she didn't use the paths the other wolves used but went her own way straight through the grass. She trotted forward with a hum in her step, she felt freed. No more leash to hold her back, no more father to tell her she couldn't do. The small girl trotted forward she stopped when she heard something moving, something chewing. She slowly creeped closer through the high grass. She spotted a coyote pup before her, she almost missed it with the coloring camouflaging the pup. The girl grinned thinking of her previous culture and how this little thing would become a slave to the wolves. Maybe she would just enslave one to be her poison assistant. Hmm... She got closer. She wished she could sit snag the pup and train it to be her servant, but probably the mother was close by. The scent on the pup was familiar somehow. RE: cool for the summer - Regipre - September 07, 2015 She saw the wolf in the same instant it noticed her. Their eyes locked. Regipre stared for a moment, her expression blank, before instinct told her to drop her gaze. She also dropped the bone on the ground. Slowly, the young coyote stood, though her head and tail remained low. She had only lived with the Hoshor Plains wolves for the first month of her life but already she head learned her place in the world. Coyotes were below wolves by default. Although capable of speech at her age, little Reggie said nothing. Although her siblings babbled, she nearly never made a peep. She continued gazing in the wolf's general direction, waiting to see what it would do. She didn't fear the stranger, though she prepared to take off back to her mother's den if it proved dangerous. RE: cool for the summer - Zaria - September 08, 2015 Zaria watched as the pup took the right posture instantly. It was so weird not to think in her old ways. Would this pup speak Dorthran? Maybe? But on the one hand Zaria didn't want to speak it. She wanted to stick with this new tongue and remember it. She didn't want to confuse the two after all. The slender female got forward. Looking curious mostly, not too vicious this time. She could be rather vicious. She remembered how mean she was to Tonravik. Oh well. The girl wasn't really sure how to handle this situation, she had never been nice to a Coyote. But she wasn't Zhavvi anymore, she was Zaria. The girl eyes at the pup, not sure if this coyote baby had been from one of the slaves. Could be, they were at Hoshor. "Name of Mama?," she asked in her english tongue. RE: cool for the summer - Regipre - September 10, 2015 For a long moment, the she-wolf said and did nothing. Nor did Regipre. She remained still, watchful and silent. She waited for the wolf to say (or do) something first. It was partially caution that compelled her to wait, though it was due to her upbringing too. Wolves were superiors and so she must defer. When prompted for the name of her mother, young Reggie did not notice the stilted speech, for it wasn't unlike the way her siblings spoke. But when the little gift replied, her voice was as clear as a bell. "Tom," she said, shifting her weight and flicking her eyes and ears a bit warily. She did not ask why the wolf wanted to know but waited to see what else she might have to say. RE: cool for the summer - Zaria - September 11, 2015 Zaria looked at the pup, not keeping her eyes off the other. She wasn't familiar with a Coyote named Tom. She thought it might be tonravik's young. That would have been interesting. Maybe she had some information about what happened. Zaria really liked an explanation as of why or where they all went. But then again, if they left Tomahawk would have followed. Silly her. This pup couldn't be hers. Zaria sat down and casted her eyes curiously around the young girl before her. "You know Dorthran wolves?," she asked, still wanting to try and see if this coyote knew about them. She would probably not. Who knows, she could always try. Zaria returned her eyes back to the pup that seemed to have a clear tone before, maybe she should have asked that in Dorthran tongue, that would make everything more clear from the start. RE: cool for the summer - Regipre - September 13, 2015 By Tonravik, do you mean Tomahawk? :P
The she-wolf did not do anything with the name. Instead, she paused and then asked Regipre about the Dothran wolves. The young coyote chewed on that a moment. She wasn't familiar with that term, though she was quite sharp, especially for her age. She was probably asking about the plains wolves that had disappeared a while back, leaving their slaves behind for reasons unknown. "Yes," she replied after a contemplative pause. Again, she wondered, Why? Her head cocked slightly, though she held her tongue still. It was the she-wolf's job to ask questions and Reggie's to answer them. RE: cool for the summer - Zaria - September 13, 2015 Hahaha omg yes, totally. I wrote this at 1am, clearly not the smartest idea. xD
Zaria looked at the young female, correction smart young coyote, before her. It was clear that she would have been an amazing slave. She would be one of those slaves you would have a conversation with. The girl dat down, squinting her eyes. She did know the plain wolves! "What happened to plains wolfs?," she asked. Zaria had never been keen on learning slaves names, she knew the one of Tomahawk but that was as far as it goes. "Tom... Tomahawk?," she asked. Zaria had treated the female horribly but she didn't regret it. The coyote had been a slave nothing more, she still was lesser than a wolf. But if she could have her way of talking to the female that would make things more clear instead of asking this pup. RE: cool for the summer - Regipre - September 14, 2015 The she-wolf wanted to know what had happened to the wolves of the plains. "Gone," Reggie said simply, slowly rolling a shoulder to add the unspoken, I don't know why. One day, they simply hadn't been there anymore. Her mother had thought they were off hunting at first, though they had never returned. Regipre was too young (and cold) to care much about their fate. Suddenly, the she-wolf said her mother's full name. Regipre didn't know why she knew it, just that she did. Her dam was alternatively mother or Tom in her mind. "Yes," she said, eyes brightening ever so slightly. This lady knew her mother? Should she go fetch her? RE: cool for the summer - Zaria - September 14, 2015 Zaria knew damn well that the plain wolves were gone. So far this pup wasn't really helpful. She squinted her eyes at the young one and scowled. Well this conversation wasn't really going anywhere. The slender female wanted to just bite her but then realized that she was rather young. She wanted to know what happened but maybe Tomahawk didn't know either. She felt at loss she didn't need the coyote female to know that she was alive. "Alright," she spoke slowly. She did know that the slave slut had some pups then. She wondered if she had any hybrids, this one was clearly coyote. She decided to not put more interest in this young one or the Dorthran Slaves. She could give her focus on other things, making herself better for Alphas Fitz. She got to her feet. "Bye." She had nothing more to say to the pup. RE: cool for the summer - Regipre - September 14, 2015 Instead of asking to speak with her mother, the she-wolf rather abruptly departed. Regipre remained motionless save for her pale blue eyes, which followed the stranger as she moved away and eventually disappeared into the long grasses. She blinked, rolled her little shoulders again and slowly returned to retrieve her bone. Clenching it firmly in her teeth, she dragged it back toward her family's den. She made no mention of the she-wolf as she moved to the lair's rear to enjoy her teething toy. |
