can't touch this - Citali - September 14, 2015 She'd had badger on the brain ever since she'd mentioned it to Saena on one of their patrols. Her memory of the day was fuzzy. Had she dined upon badger or not? Regardless, she was simply craving the creature, so it was much to her great fortune that there was one discovered dwelling in one of the caves of their forested pack land. The timing for such a creature was phenomenal. Her daily tasks about her garden were complete. Citali rested a bit by the stream, whetting her whistle before she decided to set out after that badger. She let loose a short howl, summoning any of her packmates who so wished to help her in this endeavor before she approached the mouth of the cave and began to search for sign of the striped creature who dwelled within. Ah. A scent. Or at least, what she thought was the same animal. This was the right place. With that confirmed, Citali settled near the end and waited to see if anyone else was eager to help her badger a badger. RE: can't touch this - Nochtli - September 18, 2015 The howl had interrupted nothing much, instead simply leading Nochtli away from her digging of a cache. Shaking the majority of dirt from her pelt, the Amazon turned away from her self-appointed task, intent to return later after assisting Citali with her hunt. Slipping through the trees was easy enough, calling back to her friend to notify her that she was on her way to help, and would be there shortly. It was only a few short minutes before she ranged closer, tail wagging as she closed the distance between them. Her nose bumped Cita's chin briefly before speaking. "Hunting badgers is my specialty," She announced with a grin, drawing in a deep breath to take in the scent of their prey. "You ready or are we going to wait a little longer?" Badgers were feisty as hell but she had confidence that they could take it on with ease. RE: can't touch this - Citali - September 18, 2015 You are amazing. Thanks for joining! <3
She didn't wait long before her Amazon sister lifted her voice in a howl. Oh good! There was someone around who wished to help her in this endeavor. Excellent. Nochtli's hunting abilities would ensure this badger went down fair and square. She grinned internally, mostly to herself as she waited outside the cave entrance and tried not to let the badger escape. It wasn't terribly difficult. The creature didn't seem determined to try to exit while a wolf sat near the mouth of it's home. Perfect. Even better was Nochtli's arrival. The dark wolf closed the distance between them. Citali nosed her back and turned her gaze back to the cave. Of course badger hunting was a specialty. It was practically a right of passage for Amazons. "We go now," she said, lifting to her feet and moving into the darkness of the den. There was no point in delaying their progress. They needed a quick in and a quick out and all would be practically perfect in every way. "We're going to find it, kill it, and then I want to eat it." She glanced back towards Nochtli. "If you're nice I might even share." RE: can't touch this - Nochtli - September 19, 2015 Now. That worked well enough for her, a fierce fire setting aflame in her heart. While she was a counselor, she was still an Amazon through and through and she had ever kept her warrior origins there, even in the shadow of all other aspects of her personality. A battle with a badger would serve to let her stretch and flex those muscles, a nice chance to ground herself again and remind the girl of how much she enjoyed the thrill of the fight. She was silent as she padded next to her sister, nodding as an acknowledgement to her plan. It was concise and left little to be desired; the end goal was to kill the creature and that was all she needed to know. She paused for a moment, scuffing her toes in the dirt to mask their brightness before moving beyond her sister to disappear in the darkness of the badger's den. Her ears twitched at the soft sounds of their target moving around in its abode, perhaps unaware of its intruders. Even if it was, they would need to strike fast, for to prolong the fight meant only more danger for the wolves. RE: can't touch this - Citali - September 20, 2015 For such a small creature, badgers were relatively difficult. They were feisty and persistent in their struggle to survive. Relentless, the company of another was much appreciated. Nochtli covered her white toes and set off. Citali followed along, content to let the hunter lead and track and do whatever it was hunters did best. Wrapped in shadow, Citali nearly bumped into her a few times before she caught herself. Nose to the air, she scented and searched for anything significant. The smells were growing stronger. The stench in this place smelled so much of badger it was hard to detect anything else. If her terrible nose could scent it? The creature was here. Now to find it. A rock clattered with another rock. Shuffling somewhere? A stone rolling down on top of another? She didn't know what caused it. She hadn't scuffed anything with her paws and it was too far away to be Nochtli. "Hear that?" she whispered, turning her ears towards the sound. RE: can't touch this - Nochtli - September 21, 2015 Their close proximity was easy to navigate for the darker of the two, the confines of the badger's den dark and quiet. But the smells were strong, and fresh, and she was almost completely positive that their little venture would not be in vain. With the sounds that alerted both females, Nochtli's suspicions of the badger's presence became solid things; Cita would dine on the fiesty creature tonight, she'd make sure of it. With a brief nudge to Citali's shoulder to signify that she was moving, the now practically invisible shadow slunk forward, investigating the tunnels that made up the den. She wanted to figure out a way to come at the badger from behind for Cita, for she would not put her in harm's way. Besides, Nochtli was the quicker of the two and could dodge a bit more. Once she had finished scouting, she returned in similar silence, making a gesture in the barely lit den for her to take the tunnel she'd just come from. Going the other, unexplored way, the female wraith got into position, lingering back until Citali had been given enough time to settle in and make the first move, leading their surprise attack. RE: can't touch this - Citali - September 22, 2015 Nochtli disappeared in the darkness. Her black pelt was built for this kind of activity. The browns of Citali's own hues were complimentary, but not quite so perfect as her sister who vanished from sight. Still, Citali was thankful when the wolf nudged her to let her know she still lingered and more thankful when she pointed out the proper path. True to the suggestion, Citali happened upon the proper tunnel. She moved down the pathway, scenting for any indication they were drawing closer. It was hard to tell now. The scent of badger was everywhere which suggested to her the creature spent a considerable amount of time in this area. They'd found it's home. Now all they had to do was find it and kill it. She could not see Nochtli, but Citali moved into position and waited for the wolf to signal when to move forward. They'd get this badger, but she knew who the better hunter was and would take her cues from the dark wolf. RE: can't touch this - Nochtli - September 27, 2015 Do we want to roll for anything or just write it out?
Tense moments ticked by as Nocta waited for her friend to get in position. She could barely see anything past the badger but trusted that the other female did not dawdle. When ample time had been given, she gave the signal and put on a burst of sudden speed and aggression, snarling as she dove for the badger. She would hopefully drive it back into the reach of Cita's jaws where it would meet a quick end; the less time they fooled around with this creature, the better, as his endurance for a scuffle like this would be far above their own. That and if they could take it down in short order, they would also minimize any damage it could do with its claws and teeth. RE: can't touch this - Citali - September 28, 2015 Ohh! Rolling would make it more interesting! Evens for hits on the badger? Odds for misses? -goes to roll a d10- MISS!
She moved into position. Trouble was, in the dimness of this cave she completely missed Nochtli's signal to advance. Her only indication was the scratching of her paws upon the cavern floor and the following snarl of the badger. Oh! She should do something about that shouldn't she? Citali bounded forward to help, albeit a little late on the uptake. Her teeth snapped down on nothing but air as she stumbled over a rock and none too gracefully toppled to the ground. A sound of protest fled her lips as she landed, recovered, and was thankful the darkness concealed her lack of elegance in that endeavor. "Missed it!" she announced just in case Nochtli had been expecting something else. Still, Citali pulled herself back up to her feet in effort to give this another go. RE: can't touch this - Nochtli - October 03, 2015 HIT! Keeping these short! <3
Citali missed the cue, which was understandable in the dark. She caught the sounds of some sort of scuffle, unaware that the Medic had taken a fall. But the other female was sure to make things clear for Nochtli, calling out to let her know she had missed. With a renewed growl, the hunter shot forward to head-butt the badger, teeth aiming for anything they could reach. With a surging feeling of success, the Amazon's teeth closed around a foreleg, instinct driving her to shake her head as soon as this happened. Whether or not she had injured the creature was unclear as she released the limb and shifted back, out of reach from the badger's teeth and claws. "Bit his leg!" She called, letting Cita take the offensive now as the badger's attention stayed on the darker shadow. RE: can't touch this - Citali - October 04, 2015 HIT! I'm good with short!
Nochtli's teeth hit home. She announced as much and soon after the metallic scent of blood filled the air. Well now. That would certainly help in finding the badger in the dark. Better yet? If they could lure it back into the light somehow. Thinking this. Citali scrambled and tried to remember which way they came. That way maybe? She was saved from trying to decide when the terrible snarls of a badger met her ears. Citali lurched forward batting first with a paw to try to find it in the dark and then with her teeth. Oh! It seemed she'd caught a foot. Citali chomped down around the claws and rebounded before it's mouth figured out where she was. Damn it. too slow. Her forelimb was clipped in the process, but at least she had an idea. "Lets get it into the light!" RE: can't touch this - Nochtli - October 10, 2015 Fighting in the darkness of the burrow wasn't smartest of ideas but they were managing it rather spectacularly for the circumstances presented. Cita snagged it (she guessed) before announcing another suggestion. Light, yes. That would be perfect. First though, they had to run it that way, which was going to be tough. But between the two of them, they could work something out. Her mind sped, thinking of possible actions and their outcomes, but none of them were fantastic. They'd have to do something chancy at best. And then she saw an opening and lunged for it, not letting thoughts slow her down. The badger turned to move towards Cita and the dark Amazon came up behind it to snake her jaws around its neck and give a strong shake of her head, only to feel the bones in its neck snap. A thud followed, the carcass hitting the ground, the girl panting lightly. "Got it," She said breathlessly. RE: can't touch this - Citali - October 10, 2015 Her suggestion was a good one, but unnecessary. No sooner had she spoken, than Nochtli managed to snag it out of the dark and put and end to this. The snap was clear and audible on her ears. Better still were the snarls and such that ended as a result. After that, everything was silent saved for their labored breathing. Such peace was absolutely blissful. "Good," Citali replied, satisfied that the creature was now dead and no longer a problem. "Now let's get it into the light. I want to get a good look at it before we eat it." Yes, she was consuming that thing. Badger was delicious. They moved the corpse outside and dined delightfully on the striped creature. -fade thread- |
