Blindsided by the other - Currawong - September 21, 2015

@Echo

He paused to take a deep breath as he stepped over the territory line into the unclaimed forest. So far, he had learned of another pack located in the same region. But of the name, he did not know. Selfishly, he did not care. Sawtooth is where his eyes lingered and another pack was not his concern. However, he did not like the proximity that the two pack's lied. They were not close, but not far enough away. Any elk driven south would end up around their lands, and for that reason, we was the slightest bit envious.
But for now, he ventured farther that way, in search of better kill. He had only once before, but come up with nothing special. This time, he wanted to present to the pack something much more divine in taste. A mere bird or elk would not suit his particular taste as of right now. The land ahead of him was coated in rock, among the valley of long grass. The trek was not difficult but not terribly easy, not that he minded. Unlike Hoshor, the terrain was challenging, healthy to the heart. Lifting his nose to the chilling breeze, he realised the closeness of the neighboring borders. He would not go any further, to avoid any contact with it's inhabitants.

There was a small clearing, only dotted with rocks where a single mountain goat stood grazing, unaware of his presence. He had not hunted one before, but judging by it's short but lean legs, it would be one to chase. It was not a very big animal, plump and woolly but he had learned never to underestimate the opponent, no matter how harmless it looked. Quietly stalking forward, the grass hid his large frame and the goat still looked unaware of his lurking presence. As he approached, the rustle of grass made the animal pause from it's meal, head popped up in caution with remaining grass still held between it's teeth. It was now or never, as he felt his hind legs tighten in preparation for the leap. He was fairly close now, close enough to land the kill. And he leaped from the long grass, arms extended as his mouth lashed open in his lung at the petrified animal.

Before he knew it, the kill was done, as he hunkered down in readiness to dig in. The goat was decent in size, big enough for the pack to have a taste. But when he could, he would point this area out to the Alpha. For now, he would take his bite.
Before his teeth could reach the animals soft skin, a rustle from the grass sent his ears perked up in agitation. What was it now? He mentally sighed as he walked over to investigate the noise.

A male from the south had just killed a goat not too close from the border of The Sunspire. A growl formed in the usually submissive girl's throat. She didn't like when wolves were too close for comfort and eating their meat unless it was one of the pack. She was scared for sure, but she was more angry than she was terrified out of her wits. Her muscles flexed as she jumped through the air like a puma onto it's pray. She hit the target dead on and held him down to the ground.

Her teeth shined as she lifted her upper lip off of them. The growl escaped and she hissed at the male."What are you doing here?" She asked, being as impolite as willingly possible. She was strong, but very light and her bones could be seen even though she ate big meals. She wouldn't be able to stay on long, but it could possibly be enough to get a question or two out of him.

The goat just layed on the side of them and the blood starting to pool around her back legs that had been farther back than his did. The blood soaked into her fur and continued going forward.

Savik watched as another wolf sailed through the air, narrowingly missing him by a few inches. Instinctively, he darted out to the side, his ears set down against his large head and his lips pulled back to expose a lethal snarl. He would not be swayed by this she-wolf, regardless of who she thought she was to confront him in such a way.

The females sour attitude only added to his, as he puffed out his chest, growing bigger in size than he already was. It was clear that he held dominance, noticeably bigger in size and most likely smatter in mind. Any sane wolf would not just attack another without reason, they were all civill here. The thought made him angry, at this female and her wrongful actions.

"Excuse me, but just who do you think you are. I am clearly not trespassing, nor harming another of your pack so there was no reason to attack me in such a way" He let out, trying to be as civil as he could be. It led him to wonder what enemies Sawtooth had, and who they might be, if any. For sure he would ask the Alpha after he got out of this unwanted mess.
