run for your life! - Behati - November 09, 2015 AW!
Behati was snuffling around the western edge of Bramblepoint when she found The Thing. It was hard and hollow, flecked with red rust and half-buried in the dirt. She took her time unearthing it, careful not to touch the unknown item beyond a quick pat to determine if it was alive. It wasn't. At least, not any more. Behati looked around, squinting into the autumnal foliage for any signs of company. Perhaps it was a trap? Lure the pretty lady in with a strange object, push her in a hole... stranger things had happened. Behati shook the thought from her head, and resumed her inspection of the kettle - a long-forgotten remnant of some illicit camping trip. It had a handle (or 'sticky-outy bit') and a small, fat trunk with a hole in it - presumably for drinking. Perhaps it was a skeleton? Or the hard shell of fruit? RE: run for your life! - Caeli - November 09, 2015 Hi there ;) Caeli and her companion Ridir had taken up temporary residence around Salmon Lake while the pair learned about the area and made plans for their next move. That step obviously needed to be joining up with a pack, for winter was already tickling at the lands. There were obvious signs of wolf life nearby, scents on the wind and sounds in the air, but until the small female had felt rested from their journey to the area, she hadn't wanted to cross paths with strangers. Strength and alertness felt at their peak now though, and so with a bit of prodding from Ridir, she'd taken to exploring. On this day she'd not wandered far from the Lake, only trailing the edges of a large expanse of lovely smelling trees and bushes. The crisp breeze brought her sign of another as she shifted around a turn in the path. First instinct was to fade back into the trees. She was no coward - only incredibly cautious. But that same breeze also reminded her that she did not want to be alone when the cold season was in full swing. So she edged a bit closer, emerald eyes seeking, keen nose sniffing. Until... yes, there! In the distance was an earthen figure. Caeli had finally found herself another wolf. Now what? She forced a short barking, "Hello," across the distance, then waited. She could not yet see whatever it was that had caught the other's attention. RE: run for your life! - Behati - November 09, 2015 Behati beckoned the stranger forward with a barked greeting of her own: "Hey! Come look," she urged, canting her head at the strange thing at her feet. It was not in her nature to be immediately suspicious of other wolves — even though she really ought to be. In her mind, she and her father had never shied away from an encounter - in actual fact, Aikasarria had carefully avoided wolves that posed a threat. He had not done his daughter any favours in doing so without her knowledge. "Do you think it's like.. a skull, or something?" Behati averted her eyes from the pale stranger without further question, assuming the other female would deem her friendly and approach. RE: run for your life! - Caeli - November 18, 2015 Whatever she'd expected, it hadn't really been the easy way in which the other female urged her forward, but the tone was friendly enough to bring Caeli closer with minimal worry. It seemed unlikely that she'd be attacked when the other wolf was both non-aggressive and seemed to have her attention elsewhere. On...what exactly? As snowy paws danced forward, her emerald eyes cast down to view the object that held the stranger's interest. Slowly she reached her slender neck out, still careful not to touch the other wolf, and she gingerly sniffed the piece that rested in the dirt. A flash of alarm rang through her mind, but aside from a furrowing of her brow, the youngster showed little outward reaction. Humans. Whatever this thing was, she knew enough that it came from them. Though she'd had little actual contact with anything directly dealing with the unusual creatures, she'd been educated by her elders. Still, Caeli for whatever reason, did not wish to be seen as a know-it-all. More than once she had held back an answer for the sake of fitting in. Here was the first wolf she'd seen in ages aside from Ridir, and she was not about to give lectures on the dangers of humans to someone - someone friendly - that she'd just met. "Hmmm," she murmured softly, as though considering. "I'm...I'm not sure. I don't think it has any eyes though..." Skulls had eyed. Decidedly not a skull. "It's hard like... like a rock?" Clearly not a rock, but she wasn't sure what other suggestion to make. "Have you ever seen one around before? I've not been in the area long..." There. At least she'd established that she was new. Man, she was bad at small talk. |
