the moonlight it was dancing, on the waves, out on the sea - Deirdre - December 28, 2015

mom maybe? :) @Blue Willow

deirdre slept soundly and dreamed of her life before this one. by her standards it had been a long one and it was the only memory she was permitted to carry. she was a buoyant thing in this world, tethered to something that kept her there. the dome to her had been shapeless and once, endless. for a long time things remained such and her mind was set. months to the external were years to her internal. she grew older and there was a point where her universe was shifted. something beyond spoke. her companion in this world knew it as much as she did. her curiosity was nonexistent. the nameless entity--at that point--was as good as comatose in her sac. she wanted very much to explore the universe but feared it, too, this great change. it was not that she wished to be ignorant. what had happened was simply an upheaval in her life; like someone who did not believe in anything beyond what they could see and touch hearing some God speaking to them, clear as day.

she knew the calm quiet and the thing beside her. and then the tremors from beyond came. deirdre only tested her boundaries once, a quivering limb reaching out and pressing against a barricade. the push from there was feeble, the one and only time she kicked. deirdre was never willed to do so by any other, but she felt the vibrations grow once she had acted in such a way. the vibrations were never unpleasant, simply strange in their newness. her frequent exposure desensitized her, but even then she did not experiment with the wall that was there. that was horrifying to her, somehow.

it was nice to simply float there, anyway, minding her own. she was warm, she was fed, she was content, and the little deirdre had her constant companion, ever-growing beside her. there were no moments of discomfort she could recall.

so she dreamed of that. dreamed of floating, of that warmth. the vibrations were deeper now, different yet the same. she stirred, suddenly hungry, and a paw flexed slowly, weakly, upon her mothers belly--the barricade?--before she forgot this train of thought for a time (willingly), favoring the milk that soon flowed into her mouth.

Blue Willow was still exhausted from birth, but she was enjoying the quiet time she had with the babes.  They still had a few days for their little eyes to open, and their hearing to increase. For now they were like little motionless blobs learning how to move and drink milk. She didn't mind though she enjoyed the quiet time and the cuddling they offered.

Blue drifted in and out of sleep while the little ones snoozed beside her and she was brought to a wakeful rest when Deirdre pawed at her for milk. Blue licked the little ones downy white head while she drank. Smiling quietly to herself at the way the girl moved and snuffled about.

Blue stopped to simply stare at the girls her warm breath stirring their fur every which way while she breathed in and out in contentment.

deirdre felt The Giver and gurgled at the warm feeling upon her crown. milk spilled between her jowls as she quietly willed for more of this. the first kiss she had been given--which had been a bath--confused her, but as time passed, deirdre came to love the feeling. but she did not cry when she did not receive more that very instant; she only ever protested at not being given what she desired when the paw of emaleth was removed from her person, and also if The Giver was gone and she was cold or hungry (but in comparison, these protests were feebler than her demands for her sibling). in her short life she experienced no other discomfort...

but such a thought came too soon. her bowels were full and her suckling paused. the ache was barely there yet it being present disturbed her to the point of a whimper parting her lips. she wiggled in place and let out another mewl; a tongue could coax out this thing, and then, all would be well again. this was not for her to yet know, and so she fretted noisily now.

Blue smiled gently at the small gurgle that fell from Deirdre's maw. She licked her tiny head, careful of her tiny body. Blue sniffed at her, licking her here and there to sooth and to clean. She felt the girl stop moving and shift around, soft whimpers fell from her throat.

Blue found the gentle bum of the little girl and sough to ease the pain within her belly with gently licks. Making sure ot help her ease the discomfort that she was certain she was feeling. She hoped the mewling would quiet and the little girl would feel better.

her protests were answered by Something. while she was uncertain if it was The Giver—the most bountiful of beings—she felt that it must be, for The Giver seemed to be most kind, comparable only to one other who did not give as The Giver did, but did so in a different way that would become no less adored. whatever pain there was disappeared to nothing at all, and she quieted, only now emitting a quiet, hesitant mewl of gratitude (which she felt must be given). and then deirdre was truly silent as her mind worked between the difference of tiredness and hunger, and which of those she was at present.

I'm sorry that I suck so badly lately

Blue smiled as the little one mewled in comfort and gratitude and as she quieted blue licked her head and nuzzled her gently waiting for the little girl to decide what she wanted. Blue smiled down at her anxious for the future and what their daughters would grow into, but she was also happy to keep them this little. They were so needy, but she wouldn't change it. There was just something about being needed all the time.

you don't suck at all! not even a lil bit

deirdre loved this being that had always surrounded her—for that was what she remembered in the moment—and moved further into her warm embrace, soundless but for her contented breathing. it was this one she recognized as The Source, inherently; she shared with the woman everything, and had felt all things with her from within. her mothers emotions had been her own, experiencing every great happiness or disappointing sadness. when her mother wandered alone to woods of donnelaith, it was not so, because deirdre—with emaleth—had been within her, seeing in brief flashes what blue willow did, and loving it greatly. and if blue willow had missed her husband, so too did she! every longing, every hope, every thing was known to them in this world they inhabited, understanding yet not. growing and loving even more, just as she would do in this life. deirdre's devotion was limitless to The Source, incomprehensible in its massive reach. she expressed it in her quiet complacency or her shrill cries of hunger. she knew much, but love she knew intimately, and would give it freely for all the love she had been given in this life.

Blue snuggled down, licking the little girls head again. She sighed softly perfectly content in her life thus far. Though she was not as present as she had been with the other three, she was trying her best. This time around she found herself losing chunks of time, perhaps it was her age or maybe it was just repetitive and the two rearings would at times blend together, but they were also so very different. How she loved her children.

deirdre did not know the difference between she and her elder siblings; she felt her mother present, always, except for the moments she went to drink and hunt. that she was missing chunks of time was unknown to the babe who was content to lay and idle by her mother, as well as whatever else she pleased. the woman was The Source and to The Source she owed everything! she stretched forward so her mother would have more access to her, quite enjoying when her mother cleaned her and doted on her. deirdre did what she could to repay the favor, but often fell asleep as she applied her loving ministrations.
