This is getting serious - Mason - February 02, 2016 A little PP to get them there swiftly <3 @Alastor After announcing to his father that he had a penchant for scouting, Mason had found out that Al wanted to be a scout too. Whilst he obviously spent time with all his packmates on hunts and other such activities, he had not spent quality time with Alastor for ages. Mason felt a bit guilty about that. He also wondered why all of the trades he were going for were already being looked into by older, better packmates. Mason had obtained Caregiver and he was now looking towards his specialisations. He knew he wanted to be a Ranger Scout. He wondered what Alastor wanted to specialise in. To that end he had located Alastor and relayed the message Dad had given him. FitzDutiful wanted them to head out to Sawtooth Spire to find the pack there and see what news there was. This was a direction Mason had never been in before and he was glad his Dad had asked them to go in a pair because he was a bit nervous (although he never would have admitted it). He remembered Sebastian’s words to avoid Blackfeather woods, so they cut down Meadowlark Prairie near to the borders of redhawk. They then zipped in a straight line towards Otter’s Creek. Mason suggested they stop for a drink, and he paddled down the pool to cool his paws in the icy water. He looked at his greyscale companion with a twitch of his ears and stopped his paddling to ask: “So when we get there do we just say… what’s the news?” Mason asked inquisitvelto. Did Al have any ideas how to approach this? RE: This is getting serious - Alastor - February 13, 2016 Sorry for the delay!
While Mason had felt guilty for not spending too much time with him, Alastor seemed to feel doubly so for having forgotten something from weeks ago. It had been his responsibility to obtain a gift for the younger male, and yet he hadn't. Back then, he'd been stuck in a rut, unable to pull himself from the gutters of his mind, and had pushed the task to the back of his thoughts. From there it'd been buried, covered and hidden by so many other ideas and plans that he'd eventually forgotten about it entirely. The fact that it was supposed to be a Secret Santa-type deal seemed to make the situation worse, as he knew the reason the boy had never been given anything. Even still, he remained quiet about the matter, only starting some small talk here and there during their trek. When the two had come to a stop, Alastor had taken his time with getting a drink, lapping at the water slowly as it chilled and rehydrated his throat. He'd then sat back as Mason paddled through the pool, giving his own legs an opportunity to rest. At the question, the Greek shrugged, not quite sure. "We could," the male began. "Though perhaps we should ease into it, keep them from taking offense or getting suspicious." Some packs were more private with their affairs, after all. RE: This is getting serious - Mason - February 15, 2016 No worries :D Mason’s eyes lit up at the thought that popped into his head – maybe they could spy?! He knew it was a bit of a naughty thought, but he also knew espionage was sometimes a part of scouting. Considering his clumsiness and lack of current knowledge of the areas, he doubted he could really do much spying. But hey, it was a cool thought. “So should we try and head around the perimeter to see if we can spot anyone? If Dad’s not heard from them in so long, maybe they don’t like strangers. I don’t wanna be attacked.” Mason ended fervently, remembering the cougar incident and having no desire to get caught up in anything like that again. The boy stopped his paddling to wait for the older male’s advice. RE: This is getting serious - Alastor - March 03, 2016 Sorry about this, ahh. Last post from me, though. You have my full permission to pp as much as necessary in your next post to give this a somewhat fitting end. ^^;;
The notion was one worth considering, lingering along the perimeter in the hopes that they might catch sight of someone. It would probably be the better choice of approach, especially if Mason's thoughts turned out to be true and the others really didn't enjoy the presence of strangers. "Don't worry," he began. "As long as we don't get so close that we seem like a threat, they should have no reason to attack us." Obviously, he'd never met one of the wolves who'd (previously) occupied the territory. Still, they couldn't be so bad as to chase away something that was not a threat to them, could they? Alastor did not dwell on the thought for very long, instead deciding to try and get their journey moving once more. Alastor would follow whenever Mason was ready to leave, careful to always remain near enough to the boy so that they might be prepared in the face of danger. What they would eventually be met with would shock him, at first, and then leave him to wonder a number of things about the abandoned land. RE: This is getting serious - Mason - March 11, 2016 Mason gave up on his paddling and smiled at Alastor, to indicate he was ready. They trekked up the side of the mountain and headed for the slopes where Dad had said the pack resided. No matter how they searched, they could find nothing. Even the last traces of the pack’s dens had been washed away by the serene snowdrifts of winter. Mason and Alastor returned to Silvertip later in the day to tell FitzDutiful the news – there was no pack at Sawtooth Spire any longer. |
