Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 04, 2016 After a light rain fall, Esaro move around the territory searching for something that would only appear in the right conditions. The rain as it fell froze the moment it touched a cold surface. This made the trees with it's branches and leaves have a coat of ice on them. With the weight some tree's cracked, Luckily it wasn't a heavy rainfall or else the whole forest could have taken lots of damage. The sun has already settled. It was getting dark fast but he still needed to find what he wanted to see. How great it was to have seen it as a pup. All he could really remember was that it all looked magical. Hopefully this night would be the night he would find it. There's wasn't a full moon but it was almost there, it should be enough. He did want to try to bring someone else along with him but since he wasn't sure he could find what he was looking for, he attempted to sneak around. He didn't want to be found until he got something to show. He finally found it the moment it got completely dark. There was a large tree that stood alone, almost every part was coated in a thin layer of ice. This would do but there was something missing. He approached and stood under the tree. It was shining but not as good as he remembered. He stepped back to look at the night sky. Of course there had to be clouds floating today. The lights were blocked and all he could do was wait it out and hope the clouds would fly off. He sat there watching the cloud blocking the moon. There was spare time but he had nothing to do, He stayed where he was and stared above. The conditions were almost all met, and soon he would relive a golden memory. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - February 22, 2016 Here I am! Sorry that took so long.
Laika groaned as she turned in her den, her deep slumber faded away. Her blue eyes fluttered open she she was met with the bright light of the moon shinning in. Odd shadows and reflected moonlight created obscure patterns upon the floor and her eyes shifted upwards so she could catch a glimpse of the trees outside. Sure enough, her gaze landed upon an ice covered land, and everything was beautifully quiet. She brought a white paw up to her nose, shielding her eyes from the bright light. Sure, it was a gorgeous sight, but she was still awfully tired. Her jaws parted in a long yawn and her teeth glited in the light. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 23, 2016 Yay!
Slowly time was passing by. He realized with the spare time he had maybe he could seek out someone to share this with. Judging on the clouds he could guess he had time to find one wolf. He thought about it for a moment. Who would enjoy the most of something like this? It was almost an instant decision to pick Laika. He tried to imagine her possible reactions, Knowing her they should all be positive reactions. Without hesitating at all he quickly got up to go seek her out. Since it was late he figured he could start looking around her den for her. Surprisingly it didn't take much time at all to get there. Esaro found himself to be a little excited. He rushed quickly to her den entrance. Only by seeing her at the last second. He was barely able to stop himself from crashing into her. Once he was standing correctly he called out with a whisper "Hey, Laika. Are you awake?" He wasn't sure if she was awake or not. If she was sleeping he would be really sorry. He would hope that what he was show would make it worth it. Now that Laika was basically in front of him, he remembered there were a few things he wanted to hear from her. They weren't urgent but it would make him happy to hear what he wanted. Spring had already told him that she would help him if he made a mistake or was in trouble. Since Laika was a friend too he wondered if she would help him out as well if he needed it. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - February 23, 2016 She was almost into the darkness of her slumber before paws steps alerted her of another wolves presence. A single ear twitched but the female did not move. Her drowsiness made her reaction very, very slow, and her eyes were still closed when the unknown wolf stumbled into her den. 'Hey, Laika. Are you awake?' Spoke a very familiar voice. Her white paw slowly shifted away from her eyesight and blue eyes blinked up at the wolf. Her brain was foggy from sleep, but she managed to push out one word. "No." She waited for his reaction before very slowly rolling over and rested her paws on the ground, pushing her small, slender frame up. Her eyelids drooped and her ears were not as perky, but otherwise she was the same. "It's the middle of the night Esaro, why are you in my den and waking me up?" She complained in between yawns. As her mouth parted, her pink tongue curled with pleasure. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 24, 2016 When he heard no he trusted that word. 'oh, she is asleep... Wait..' He was about to turn around but stopped when he realized that she couldn't be asleep if she answered. She was moving so he was able to confirm that she was actually awake. Although it was dark he was still able to see her white coat quite well. The moon was peeking so it gave a good amount of light with all the snow and ice around. He nudged her nose with his paw. "It's not that late." He said calmly. It would have been a little awkward if he had showed up without any plan in mind but Esaro had lots to share. For him this was the best time to share the experience. "I wanted to see you." He said as he started to explain in a soft tone. "But that's not all, I want to show you something cool and now is the perfect time to see it." "Come on, I need you to get up." He insisted. "It won't take too long, I promise." He didn't really want to keep her from her sleep but at the same time he didn't really to go back there alone. He truly wanted to share the magical event and he has chosen Laika to be the one he shares it with. He really wanted her to come with him so unless she rejected him hard he was going to insist endlessly. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - February 25, 2016 Laika yawned once more, blinking a few times to chase the blurry vision away. She studied him with a blank, tired eyes. Well, her has something to show her, what could it be? "It better be good, Esaro." She mumbled as arched her back in a stretch, her tail curling. She shook her pelt, as if to shake her sleepiness away and looked towards Esaro. She chuffed with amusement and nodded towards the forest. "Lead the way." RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 25, 2016 Esaro was happy to see Laika getting up. That likely meant she wasn't going to send him off so she could sleep. He whisper excitedly "Don't worry, it's going to be great." He watched her as she got ready. Once she stepped out, her coat shined brightly in the moonlight. The light gave her a radiant glow, this continued to make him believe she was part spirit somewhere. Esaro would have stayed in a daze for a while if she hadn't said anything. He nodded. "Alright, lets go." He turned and began leading the way. With his excitement he couldn't help skipping around happily ahead "This is going to be fun!" He said with a loud whisper. He made sure that Laika was following first before pick up the pace. Since the location wasn't too far it didn't take long to get there. If she was following at his pace it would only take several seconds. Once there, he notified her, showing her the tree that has nearly all it's leaves covered in a thin layer of ice. "This is it." He said happily. But there was a little problem. The tree did shine a little thanks to some of the stars but it wasn't at all impressive. He looked up at the sky to see a small cloud blocking the moonlight. It shouldn't take too long for it to move out of the way. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - February 25, 2016 Laika suppressed a smile as his enthusiasm seemed to light up the air around them, his energy fizzing and popping. She studied him as he bounced about like a young pup. She couldn't figure out what he was so excited about. As he picked up his pace, she huffed and sped up her strides, meeting his pace , but hanging a few beats behind so he could lead the way. She had no idea where he was headed and was left very confused about what this was all about. Her surroundings became more and more noticeable as the galloped on. She realized the forest was covered in a thin sheet of ice. Even the trees leaves were held stiff by the frozen water. Finally, he slowed to a stop and Laika followed suit, following his gaze towards a large tree that stood in front of them. Like all the others, it was covered from base to top with ice, and the faint starlight cause it to shine just a bit. She sat down and starred at the tree, expecting to see something happen. She turned to Esaro with an expectant and confused look. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 26, 2016 He turned to look at her and gave a grin. "Any second now." He then started watching the tree. There was a bit of wind blowing which caused the tree and leaves to move slightly. Everything was still holding. Finally as the cloud was passing the moonlight was able to touch the trees. Slowly but surely the tree was getting bathed into more light as the cloud moved away. With the wind blowing, the light show displaying was similar to the sunlight reflecting on ripples of water on a lake. In this case, with snow covering the ground, not only did the tree shine like a star bright night but there was also a water like reflection on the snow. It was easy to say this was a rare and beautiful sight but for Esaro there was one more thing that would make this even better. So instead of watching the show, he turned towards Laika and gave her some instructions. "Now for the best part, Do what I do!" He leaped towards the tree excitedly. A moment like this was very rare but this time he got a chance to see it again and to share it. He began by spinning around. "First. get into a spinning rhythm!" He said as he spun around. Sure it was unusual but this was something he has done many times when he was little. He started slow as he was working on his footing, he was quickly able to get his rhythm. It's clear that he's done this before, he was able to spin around gracefully without losing balance at all or even tripping over himself. "Once you got it, spin faster and faster!" He said as he accelerated his movements. As he spun around he kept an eye on Laika to see if she would follow along. The whole time he had a grin, obviously enjoy this. "Then you fall onto your back!" He said excitedly as he let himself fall onto the snowy ground. Here was the real best part. He looked up while he was dizzy from spinning around. What was seen there made it really look magical. All the lights were moving and spinning, it was even better with the wind. Nothing could compare to this bright star night light. It looked like the sky was so close that he could touch the stars. Even if it was an optical illusion, seeing it was beautiful to the point he could just sit there and be happy. I actually want to try this out now, imagine spinning around under something like this Holy lights!
RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - February 27, 2016 Yeah!
Laika was very confused until the clouds moved away from the moon, casting a beautiful shine upon the frozen tree. She was in awe for a few moments, for what lay in front her. The light cascaded off the tree in many different and shimmering colors, seeming to ricochet off the other trees around it. Her confusion returned as Esaro walked underneath he tree and began spinning like a helicopter seed traveling to the ground. His body became a blur of brown as he whirled around, faster and faster, instructing her how to do it. It wasn't until her was finishing with his odd show and had collapsed on his back did Laika realize that he wanted her to copy him. She became uneasy. It was quite an usual thing to do, and she preferred not to make herself dizzy and on the verge of sickness. She silently shook her head and spoke. "I'd perfer to just admire the lights as they are Esaro, but thanks for inviting me to do that." She said and padded up to him. Sitting down and looking up. Indeed it was a very beautiful sight. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 27, 2016 Esaro was having fun for sure, he only noticed Laika wasn't following along at the end. He was able to shake of the feeling of disappointment when she came to join him. She sat down next to him and together they watched the lights. If she preferred to watch then that was fine as long as she enjoyed it. There was a moment of silence. He was enjoying everything but his attention was pulled towards Laika. He was really glad that she followed him here even though she could be sleeping right now. He let out a long peaceful sigh. "I wish every night would be like this." He said calmly. It was more like he wished he could stay this happy. For now he just wanted to forget the fact that this won't last but it was a bit difficult. Who knows when there will be another chance like this. He wondered how long he would actually be able to stay with his friends. How long would Laika be at his side? "You know, last time I found something like this, I wasn't able to share it with anyone." He paused for a moment. "I'm really glad you decided to come here with me. Just laying here with you makes it even better. I don't feel alone at all." He said as he tried to express the reason why he was really happy right now. But now he wanted to ask one thing important, something that is meant to last. "Laika, will you always be at my side? Like, if I happen to run in to trouble or if I need help, will you be there for me?" He asked and watched her as he wanted for her answer. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - February 28, 2016 Laika enjoyed the light a lot, and found herself drawn to them. She liked their peacefulness, blocking out the world around her so it was just her and the wonderful display before her. He began to explain his feelings about her joining him and she gave a thin smile. He seemed to get too close for comfort sometimes. He definitely liked to test the lines of friendship lately. Instead of giving him any encouraging signs, she just kept it short and sweet. "I have a great time coming here too, Esaro," she began without much emotion in her voice. "Thanks for showing me." Then, he began questioning her. Asking if she would be by his side at all times to help him. Honestly, if he kept up this obnoxious behavior, she would not agree to this. But, Laika did not want to be rude, nor give in. She was not one to really care about others, unless they were very close to her like Spring, part of her family, or her Alphas. And so far, all Esaro was doing was widening the gap between the two. Finally, she cut to the chase, opening her jaws to speak. "Esaro, I am a friend, and I will do everything I can to help you, but under very strict circumstances. One, I made a promise to Reek and Phoenix Maplewood when I joined this pack to protect them to the death and never betray them. I will withhold this promise until I am no longer, so if you do something to cross those lines, I will not stand by you. Secondly, I will only help out if what you are fighting against is sensible. If you are squabbling about a price of prey, or did something stupid, I could care less. Are we clear?" This is one of the many things I love about Laika. She does not care about almost anyone, and I have a lot of fun role playing that. :D
RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 28, 2016 Now this is interesting, never saw this coming :P
For Esaro, this felt like the greatest day of his life. Enjoying something with a friend really made all this better. But that feeling ended so much sooner than it should have. Laika gave him a taste of reality nearly breaking the image he had of her. Ever since he meant her he was under the impression that she was a caring wolf. She was playful, happy, and helped the pack here and there. But this is the first time her words felt a little cold, almost as if this was the real her and everything else was just an act. What she said had nothing to do with being a friend. It sounded more like he was just another pack member, like it was just her job and that's all there is to it. Her answer really did take him by surprise and took a while to process. After a few moments he got back up on his feet. He felt like there was a lie somewhere. Something he believed but isn't true. But he couldn't pinpoint where it could be, making him doubt almost everything about her. Without too much thought, He finally decided to say something. "All I wanted was to be friends. But what you say feels more like you're treating me as if I was just another member of this pack. You make it sound like you are ready to abandon me just as much as you would help me." His trust in her was fading. Suddenly he didn't feel special anymore but he also couldn't feel like he was like everybody else. He was worse than average, did that mean Laika was more likely leave him behind than anything else? Esaro expressions were neutral, he didn't know how to feel about all this. But he wasn't one to easily abandon the possibility of being real friends with Laika. He sat down, his nose point towards the ground. "I guess that's normal, I'm not really worth anything right now." but then looked up into her eyes. "But one day I will be able to prove to you that I'm worth keeping around. I'll show you and everyone else that I'm not some useless member." He said with determination. In truth he feared to be abandoned due to his lack of abilities. It felt like if he didn't improve soon everyone would want to abandon him. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - February 28, 2016 Laika frowned. This was definitely not where she was going, and she definitely did not want to hurt his feelings, she just felt a bit self defensive. She couldn't help but feeling that something was off. That Esaro was going to try to guilt trip her in the future, but she did not let these doubtful emotions show. Instead, she portrayed a more caring face, and gentle nature. Laika could be very cold at times, but also gentle. Honestly, she had quite the confusing personality, but if you were able to fight through the self defensive words and guarded behavior, you could the gain the closeness and friendship that Spring had achieved. In fact, when they first met, Laika was very much the same towards Spring. "I was not trying to sound rude, nor push you away Esaro." She began. "I was merely trying to explain that I will always put my pack first, and trust my gut before anyone else. I guess how I said it came off badly." She smiled meekly before becoming concerned again. How he spoke about himself really discouraged her. He was such a downer on himself, and tended to think that he was useful for nothing. "Esaro.. What do always say to you? Stop talking about yourself as if your are a nothing, because your and I both know that you have definitely proved yourself to me and Spring." The lights from the tree were creating beautiful patterns upon the floor. She gazed at them, full of awe once more and looked back up at Esaro with a wider smile dancing upon her face. "Thank you for showing me these lights tonight." This is so fun!!
RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - February 29, 2016 For moment he was doubting her. Putting everything he knew about her into question but to save him from the trouble, Laika decided to explain a little more clearer. Now Esaro felt a little bit at fault for misunderstanding her, she no longer sounded like a careless wolf who was just acting like this just because it was her job or something. "Oh, I'm sorry to have misunderstood you. I was about to believe you were just being nice because of your promise." He said returning to his kind gentle tone. "I'm sorry for doubting you." Then she told him to stop being negative about himself. He doesn't truly believe he was useless to the point that he was basically nothing. But just like some others who believe in him there are others who don't have hope for him at all. He decided to try to explain why he keeps saying that. "I know I'm not as useless as others might say but I haven't been able to prove them wrong yet. I'm happy that you, Spring, and Luna believe in me but not everyone does. Which is kind of the reason why I want to know if you'll help me. Maybe I should have asked differently." He paused for a while trying to rephrase what he wanted. "Instead, can you allow me to help you whenever you have a problem? If I can manage to be helpful then they wouldn't be able to call me useless anymore." He said as he finally managed to say what he truly wanted. What he said before made it seem like it was just trying to pass on some of his burden onto others but what he really wanted was for others to support him and know that he can be dependable. After saying all that he felt like he could relax now so he decided to go back to laying down on the ground on his back. "These lights rarely come around. Even if it's a little cold, I think I'm going to spend the night here tonight." He said calmly. He looked towards Laika while remembering that he said it wouldn't take too long for him to show all this. He had nothing left show, did that mean this little 'date' was going to come to an end? He had no reason to hold her back if she wanted to go back to her den to sleep. RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Laika - March 01, 2016 Laika nodded. She'd already told him that she would help under strict circumstances, so why repeated it again? She nodded, to should she agreed to helping him and sat stood. A large yawn crept its way up her throat, forcing her jaws open and erupting from her mouth. Her tongue curled eith the effort and she looked back down at Esaro with a smile. "You are welcome to stay here, but I'm leaving to Finish the sleep I had started," She joked. "Bye." She cast one last look at the tree in awe before tuning around and heading back to her den. Her paw-steps were sloppy and sluggish as the thought of curling back up into her nest engulfed her mind. Her ears stayed alert however, keeping 'watch' over herself as she made her way back to her den. Finally, her den was within sight, and as Laika crawled back into her nice warm net, she remembered the lights. She would never forget them, and she was thankful of Esaro for showing her them. But still, a troubling thought reappeared in the back of her mind. She couldn't help but this Esaro was planning something. She chuffed and rolled over, pushing the thought away, and reentering her deep slumber. Last post for me!! That was fun! :p
RE: Dance with the Winter Spirits - Esaro - March 02, 2016 "Alright, I won't stop you. Goodnight." He said before she made her way back to her den. Esaro thought about walking her back since he was the one to bring her out here but it didn't cross his mind until now. It was too late to say anything she had already left. He was alone again but it didn't bother him. Right now he was going to relax under the lights, over time he decided that later he was going to go hunt by himself. If he could catch something he go show off to Laika or maybe just settle with giving her a little gift. He let out a peaceful sigh. Things look like they are getting better. It was an encouraging thought. Maybe soon he would be able to prove everyone he was useful. In way it was a need but after today he really felt like he could do it. Next! :D
