Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 19, 2016 @Renn The man had be searching the territory up and down, finding some good hiding spots, possibly for Renn. He tilted his head back, calling for her. He stood waiting at the edge of a pond. He wanted to ask her first if she wished to pursue spying. He wasn't going to push he to do it, but it would also be nice for him to be a mentor, maybe this could count for his counseling trade if she had some doubts. RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 19, 2016 Once more, the yearling found herself padding through the shadows on the lookout for prey, alert and ready as always. The trail of the alpha male cut sharply through the darkened wood, winding between trees in and out of mysterious glades. She paused to listen as his voice drifted through the air and she loped forward to answer her leaders call. "What may I do for you?" she asked, dipping her head in a polite gesture as she arrived beside the pond. RE: Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 19, 2016 He stood tall, not overly dominate, he stood tall because his ear would hit the wind when he stood tall, letting sounds carry easier. Cogitemus gave a dip of his head, and flicked his ears. "Hello Renn, I was wondering if you would actually like to pursue spy work. You have a very good talent, and I apologize for calling for you, but we could really use a very good spy like yourself right now, knowing as we are new. Who knows who will send spies over here." He said, "I just believe you are relented, but if this isn't something you would enjoy, please, please, please tell me, I don't want you to do something you wouldn't like." RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 20, 2016 It wasn't the first time she bad been praised for her undercover work but now she came to think about it, maybe she did possess some sort of natural talent for it. She certainly hadn't been thought the arts by anyone else. "Indeed," she began, nodding her head slightly, "I would be honoured to. You certainly have found the right place to practice." A ghost of a smile played out across her features as she let her optics unfocus from the dark king to survey the mysterious darkness of the hollow. RE: Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 20, 2016 Cogitemus gave a small rare smile. "Great, would you like to get started right now?" He asked, cocking his head. The forest was a really great place for spying, hopefully she would enjoy learning. RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 21, 2016 Waving her tail slightly, the dark female nodded. The King seemed pretty keen to mentor her which was always a good sign. If she could work towards gaining his upmost trust, then perhapse it would assist her in fairing well in terms of pack life. Once more, her optics scanned the fringes of the forest, searching for even the tiniest of prey movement, but without success. Still, she twitched her ears and tried to conceal her concern as she returned her focus back to the alpha. RE: Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 21, 2016 The dark King nodded curtly. "Ok, first I would like you to work on being silent. I will begin walking ahead, and I want you to come around through the bushes and tackle me." he said. "You have to keep an eye on the wind, to conceal your smell, much like hunting prey. After, make sure I cannot see you." He said before tilting his head. "Got it? I'll call you out if I see or smell you. Good luck." He said before trotting off, keeping his ears perked. RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 21, 2016 Renn twitched her tail in response and paused to think things through before she made a move. One of her strengths certainly was being able to stalk silently as she had proved when she had shadowed the pair. It was one thing to be able to creep around without a sound but that was futile if your target caught your scent. A frown played out across her feature as she ran the thought through her head. She hadn't had much experience with wind direction, nor had really noticed it before, but Veritas had showed her the basics back in the canyon so it was now time to put those words of wisdom into practice. Average, northerly wind. She cocked her head to one side and slipped into the forest, hopefully downwind of the alpha, blending in quite nicely with the shadows. Though, that would make it hard to spot him in all this gloom. Nevertheless, she continued quietly, trying hard to avoid the leaves and twigs that littered the forest floor. It certainly was challenging but she managed it, following Cog's trail in between the trees. RE: Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 21, 2016 The man kept his movement straight, listening for the girl, so far nothing. He stopped, trying to mess with her, he looked around and took a deep breath in. Nothing. He now picked up the pace, it would be harder for her to be quiet while moving faster. He wasn't running, more of a power walk. She was doing really well right now, and he was soon expecting her weight on top of him, trying to push him down. RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 22, 2016 Just imagine you're hunting. Focus on keeping silent The dark pelted female concentrated on her alphas words, keeping pace with him as they picked up speed through the gloom. From watching her parents, she knew how to tread carefully which certainly did help her a lot. Though she couldn't help thinking what this practice session had got to do with spywork. Did spies didn't hunt down and maul other wolves? In her confused state of mind, the youngster didn't notice the fallen branch until it was almost too late. Widening her eyes, she leapt over it, her paws just scraping the top of the bark slightly. Shaking her head, she continued to run, this time spotting the Kings dark shape flitting through the shadows. She bunched her muscled and sprang, aiming for his shoulders in hope that her weight would bring him down. RE: Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 22, 2016 Renn was doing very well so far, she wasn't heard or seen. He did hear her stumble on a branch, but when he turned around to speak, her body was already fly at him. He fell to the ground with a thump, lying on his back, and him front paws folded to his chest. He looked up at Renn. "Very good!" he praised with a smile. He stood up, and shook the snow from his pelt. "Just be aware of that branch. Besides that, you did very good. Next, I think we should do the opposite. I will come looking for you, and you have to try to stay out of sight and smell. If you have the chance tackle me, and if I get the chance I will tackle you. Ok?" he said. RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 23, 2016 Sorry if my rp quality seems to be declining a little, school just started up again after the holidays which is quite stressful >.< Nevertheless, I will try my hardest to reply :D
Once again, the young female nodded eagerly and darted back into the gloom of the forest, her pelt becoming one with the shadow. For once it payed to be a black wolf. Shaking her head, she focused her thoughts on her second task. This time, Cog had instructed her to become somewhat like prey, flitting silently through the darkness in hope to avoid getting tackled. Moving forward at a respectable pace, she stumbled upon a pond, tainted black by plant matter from the surrounding foliage. A wild idea suddenly sprang up and she leapt into the pool, ignoring the ice cold shock and covering her pelt with as much stinking material as she could, hoping that at least it would quench her scent enough to be a little less detectable. Giving her frame a quick shake, she continued swiftly onward stopping now and then to check for signs of her alphas presence. RE: Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 23, 2016 No! Don't worry about it! I am having a stone cold case of writer's block! Always fun. Sorry if mine sucks!
The man dipped his head to give her a chance to flicker away. After a bit, he looked up. He looked around, and dipped his head to the ground, trailing her scent. He pricked up his ears to hear the sound of a soaked pelt. He quickly went into panic. Did she fall. He quickly ran to the pond. "Renn are you ok? Did you fall? Are you hurt?" he said quickly, before stepping close to her, looking up and down her body, circling her. He needed to get her warm. Did she fall? His mind drew a blank, waiting for her to answer. His little training session flew out of his mind. When he was a pup he fell through the ice and into a frozen river. What did his parents do? They licked him, and huddled around him. That's what he needed to do. RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 25, 2016 Oops! How on earth was she meant to explain what she had been doing jumping into icy ponds? The shadow of her alpha blocked out the weak winter light but clearly that was the least of his concern. "I-I'm ok." It was the best she could do without portraying herself as a complete fool. She shuffled her frame into a more comfortable sitting position, wincing as his wave of questions bombarded her guilty mind. "Initially, it was to throw you off my scent but... well... it didn't really go quite according to plan..." She finished her lame confession and shivered, wrapping her tail round her paws to conserve the remaining warmth her dampened fur was holding. RE: Can I help you? - Cogitemus - February 25, 2016 The man walked over, not worrying about her reasonings. He sat beside her, pressing his own fur into her wet fur. He slowly moved his head to licked her back, trying to warm her. He didn't want to call for Veritas, because he had it under control right now. If Malice freaked about him doing this, then she was crazy. He was helping a pack mate from freezing, though he would have to tell her later on. He stopped licking, trying to help her not go into shock. He sat for a moment, trying to press closer, his own pelt already taking in a bit of water. RE: Can I help you? - Renn - February 28, 2016 Renn sighed, grateful that the king accepted her words, and continued to play her part by pressing closer to him. She wasn't at all phased by his actions, her mother and siblings had cuddled with her numerous times, and she knew that he was helping her and increasing her chances of avoiding a visit to Veritas. On that thought, a ghost of a smile played out across her muzzle as she gave her pelt a quick shake to release the last of the water. "I think I'll finish training there for the day," she mused, padding over towards a glade of bracken fronds still scarred brown from the winter and curled up beside the bare trunk of a spruce tree. "If that's alright I mean..." |
