Let the torture begin! - Quiet - March 10, 2016 Tagging @Burke for Quiet's first spy lesson!
Quiet stole to the alpha's den amidst the silent fog that often rolled in through Blackfeather Woods from the swamps. It was morning - the crows and ravens were beginning to stir above her as she padded quietly, closer and closer to Burke's home. She arrived and then wondered how she would rouse her leader without being assaulted by a large angry bunny wolf. If he was even there. Tentatively, Quiet stuck her head inside the den's entrance, smelling Burke and his two children. She chuffed, then squeaked, hoping to awaken one or more of them. Quickly, she drew her head out of the den, just in case someone did wake and decided that they were having a bad morning. One could never be too careful. RE: Let the torture begin! - Burke - March 11, 2016 Burke instantly growled when someone pushed their head in his den. He liked his den private they could just call out. Burke pushed himself to his feet, knowing that squeak. He couldn't really blame her for not being able to call out but he was quite displeased. Burke let out a snarl with his teeth bared, making it very clear he was not liking her wake up call and her head so close to his den. He liked so share a lot with his pack mates but his den was his private place. He would only share it with his children seeing that he missed Meldresi terribly. He dreaded the day his kids would find their own place to sleep. "Next time you don't wake me," he snapped. He then looked over her, it was clear she wanted an spy trying but Burke liked to do that a few hours later than this. Alas, now he was awake. The large male looked at the female. "I guess we should start. I would ask how much you know but you can't tell me," he stated to her, his tone still a bit displeased. RE: Let the torture begin! - Quiet - March 16, 2016 Unsurprisingly, Burke's face did not have a happy expression. In fact, the tired, grumpy Burke was almost horrifiying. Quiet jumped back at his growl, planting herself on the ground and whimpering softly in her way of apology. She did not mean to wake him up, but she found no better time to learn than now. As Burke pulled himself out of his dead, Quiet scrambled backwards and onto her feet again, flinching at his displeased tone as he spoke. She really should have timed this better, but alas, it was too late now. RE: Let the torture begin! - Burke - March 17, 2016 The only thing that made up for Quiet waking him was that she actually looked genuinely guilty. Burke had only a few hours of sleep seeing that he went on night patrol, and getting to sleep was getting more difficult for him. He missed Meldresi, still. He disliked it. The male bared his teeth a bit, mostly because his mood had soured and he was just annoyed. He sat down, as grumpy as he was. "So Spy was it?," he spoke, remembering their last conversation. He had been practicing his marks and drew the one for 'Loot'. Basically saying that there was something worth stealing, meaning that she would have to spy for him, or at least move around him without making a sound. "To be a spy you will need to be quiet...," he paused, realizing that she was in fact.. quiet. "With your movement. Try to sneak up on me," he then ordered. RE: Let the torture begin! - Quiet - March 19, 2016 Quiet followed Burke to the open area, then stood waiting for instructions as he drew on the ground. She recognized the symbol — Loot. Worth. Looking up at Burke for explanation, she quickly realized what he meant by the shadowmark. Loot would be well guarded. You needed to sneak around guards. Quiet nodded, silently laughing at his little unintentional joke, but she quickly moved off into the foliage, away from Burke's sight. She moved away as far as she could without losing sight of the large gray wolf, then she proceeded to stalk. She had plenty of experience in walking silently, but now she was actually being tested for it. She was impressed at how efficient the Dark Brotherhood was in training their recruits, testing their abilities and working with them to build them into the spies and assassins (she did not know about the priest branch) they needed. Quiet moved forward, little by little. Burke was still quite a bit away from her now, but she would have to move slowly if she wanted to be effective in being silent. RE: Let the torture begin! - Burke - March 20, 2016 Burke watched the quiet girl trot off. The male knew that he couldn't be too selfish and an alpha, and he wanted more spies like Cicero that could head out and infiltrate packs. He would be needing them if he wanted to execute his plan. Burke wasn't going to be soft on her, in fact he would need to be very strict to make sure that they would improve and want to better themselves. Quiet had the advantage that she couldn't even talk in the first place, but her paws could make noise and her breathing too. Burke was fully alert listening to any sounds that came from the surrounding area's. After all he was not sure from which side she would approach him. RE: Let the torture begin! - Quiet - March 20, 2016 Quiet could barely breath; her breath was almost perpetually held as she stepped lightly over branches and slithered between bushes. Damn, this was hard. Harder than she was expecting. Perhaps it was because she was with a professional. Perhaps it was because she was being tested. But now she was nervous. Would Burke punish her if she screwed this up? It was the threat of failing and being punished that frightened her into the deepest silence she ever experienced in her life. She was even frightened that her heartbeat was too loud. The coywolfdog, a few lengths away from Burke now, paused in her tracks. What should she do? Jump him? Quiet, her eyes focused on Burke, stepped forward and found that she almost immediately sank into the ground. A ditch, unseen by her, trapped her paw. Quiet nearly squeaked in surprise, but clamped her mouth shut. She froze, half on the ground, hoping Burke didn't hear her. RE: Let the torture begin! - Burke - March 20, 2016 Burke sat there, still unsure from which side she was coming. He was mostly focussing behind him seeing that was a more logical place to approach him from. He had been right. The girl had been quite good with keeping her position secret but she had hesitated. Burke's ears were directed towards her instantly but he did not turn his head to watch her or what she was doing. "You hesitated. Think where you want to strike me and how before starting to stalk someone," he explained to her, mostly calling out. "If you know your end goal and how you plan on taking down, or eavesdropping on someone your approach will be more easily determined," Burke spoke calmly, his inner mentor coming out. He did like to teach other wolves, so his grumpiness was slowly ebbing away, already decided that he would have a nap after this to catch up on his sleep he was missing out on now. RE: Let the torture begin! - Quiet - March 20, 2016 Stuck in the ditch, Quiet froze, listening as Burke criticized her. Hot shame washed over her like a tidal wave, and Quiet squeaked softly in apology, more to herself than anything. Tearing herself out, the hybrid reevaluated her situation. Burke knew where she was now — she would have to move somewhere else in order to keep him off guard. After pausing for a brief moment, Quiet stole away into the shadows, changing her position and method of attack. She would sneak up on him and place a paw lightly on his side — that was her goal. With that firmly in her mind, Quiet approached from Burke's other side, repeating the same process as before; slow, methodical stalking. RE: Let the torture begin! - Burke - March 21, 2016 Burke did not meant to make her feel bad, still the male was pretty sure that she could take some criticism. She was not really being able to tell him if she couldn't though. Practice makes perfect, he liked to say. It was good that she also wanted to be a hunter, because stalking prey would help her learn to stalk wolves or other subjects. The male listened, but could not detect her. He wondered if she was going to approach the same side, probably not. Still Burke was attentively listening. The large male was not only listening with his feet, but also with his paws, trying to feel any sort of trembling or movement. It worked well with Bison, maybe not so well with lithe wolves like Quiet. Still it was practice for himself to use every part of his body in this alert state. RE: Let the torture begin! - Quiet - March 24, 2016 Quiet, now in what she believed to be a proper position to attack, sucked in her breath as she crouched into a pouncing stance. She stared directly at the grayscale alpha, her eyes cat-like as she wiggled her butt slightly in anticipation. Then she leapt forward. She didn't tackle Burke — she would never have the strength to knock him over — but instead landed in front of him, regardless if he spotted her or not. She sat there, looking at Burke, wondering if she had done right or screwed up again. With no voice to ask questions, she was going off of trial and error here. RE: Let the torture begin! - Burke - March 26, 2016 Burke did not move from the middle of the clearing. He kept his ears and nose on alert but his focus couldn't be there the whole time. Quiet was actually being quite good at being quiet. So when she jumped before him Burke was at least a bit surprised. The few second before she jumped Burke prepared himself for her bumping into him but she didn't. That was something pf a bonus point for the older male. Especially having Pietro and Kendra jumping on him in their playful moods. He nodded shortly. "Good. But improve it. I advise stalking other members of the pack. Pick one and report back to me," he spoke to Quiet. A little internal mission seemed like a good test before really sending her out on missions. RE: Let the torture begin! - Quiet - March 28, 2016 Quiet flashed a pleased smile to Burke, spotting the small flicker of surprise in the alpha's pale eyes. It faded quickly as Burke snapped back into his authoritative stance, giving her orders. She was to stalk one of the pack members and report back to Burke with information. Quiet wrinkled her nose at the prospect of stalking one of the dark wolves but she would do as told. Quiet nodded then tilted her head slightly, silently asking if their lesson was formally over. RE: Let the torture begin! - Burke - March 29, 2016 It seemed that the female understood. The alpha have a nod to her that she was free to go. The male was planning on going back into his den and get some more hours of sleep before he would have to do some other tasks. Now Quiet had something else to focus on which was in his advantage. Burke was not one that would be often found sleeping in his den, but seeing that he was getting older he needed the rest, especially during the night. With him allowing Potema to go Burke turned back to his own den and disappeared underground. Feel free to archive after your post!
RE: Let the torture begin! - Quiet - April 01, 2016 Formally dismissed, Quiet bowed her head and stole off into the darkness. While she felt a little bit guilty for waking Burke up so early, she could not deny the important lessons she learned today. Quiet cherished the fact that Burke did not rejected her needs to learn. Setting off into a light trot, Quiet wondered who would be wandering through the woods this morning, too focused on their own tasks to notice the quiet hybrid stalking them. |
