orchideous, the flower conjuring spell - Deirdre - April 15, 2016

tag for visibility!

the babe missed tachyon with all of her heart, but her father had promised her that the man would return and the flowers and the trees—who saw and knew all things—had not informed her of the contrary. but she was young and knew very little of patience. nightly, deirdre would follow the light of the firefly to the borders, where they would glow around her. she watched them communicate in waves, and wondered if their lightbeams could answer her. perhaps they might light the way for her, if they could! she had been about to ask them when she felt the brush of a bud against her, and she turned to the heart-shaped petal and whispered, will you tell me now??? a fierce wind came, and caused it to lift into the air. she rose and as it danced in the wind, she followed up until the point where it brought her to a field of sweet-scented lavender. you want me to sleep, she breathed, but her heart was restless. well, i will not! i cannot! he has been gone too long! the wind came again, and the old oak-tree rustled. laughter?! oh! i will not laugh, or sleep, or smile until he is in my sights again! came her oath and ode, and she turned her soft muzzle sharply away from the sweet-scented lavender, closing her eyes and thinking of @Tachyon, and feeling a sense of deep dread within her.

RE: orchideous, the flower conjuring spell - Emaleth - April 16, 2016

She sensed her sister's pain and need, and little Emaleth followed the scent-trail that would lead her to the lighter half of her soul; scenting the wild breeze, and tasting within it the acrid perfume of the sentinels' leaves. It surprised her, to catch Deirdre thus, though she had been aware of her sister's repeated nightly absences; for Emaleth found comfort in the moon's light, and the darkest hours were hers. Her mismatched eyes watched from the darkness of the forest, her coat blending with shadow. She came forth only after the Child of Light had finished her oath, and she rushed to her litter mate's side, crying, "Deirdre, Deirdre! Dear heart, what troubles you?"

her head turned as she heard the familiar voice of emaleth, and in moments her sister emerged from the dark. one eye filled with the ocean, the other, forest. she had not confided in emaleth in very long, unwilling to share the heavy burden of what had happened to her, but this? this could be told. tachyon. he has gone missing, and the flowers and the trees have not seen him near... i cannot rest. what if he was... she nearly choked on the word as she thought of the woman who had tried to grab her, though the forest had saved her from that fate. but would it have saved him? surely it would! for she loved him as she loved emaleth and lasher and blue willow, and her brother had left this place but lived still, did he not, and she loved him as well!

RE: orchideous, the flower conjuring spell - Emaleth - May 02, 2016

Death was not something with which Emaleth was familiar; her life thus far had been lived only within the safety of Donnelaith, and such things were only part of stories. They did not penetrate their idyllic life, and it seemed that the dark child's way of coping with the upsets that had interrupted their lives was to simply pretend that they had never occurred— that they were stories, themselves. She could not understand her sister's misery, nor the strong feelings she seemed to hold for the grown-up that she did not know as well as the others.

"He will return, dear heart," she murmured, snout drawing near to the fur at her sister's cheek. Because how could he not!

while deirdre was distraught, emaleth alone could bring comfort to her in this time of turmoil. as emaleth spoke the words, she was soothed; she nodded her head and lent, for the first time in a while, against her sister. deirdre did not care if emaleth said the words simply to comfort her, and if she felt at ease because these were the words she so longed to hear, or if because she felt a knowledgable truth behind them. she lent into her sister and shed some tears upon her shoulders, and she was so exhausted that she lay here to slumber at last, to the comfort of the lavender that looked to them and hoped for this... and any other that knew how spent she was.
