I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - Síff - April 16, 2016 feel free to join, anyone
The small white female was on her way to her favorite place in Rosings, the stream near her den. She planned to swim now that it was warm enough to do so. She loved swimming, her thick fur and the feathering between her toes were made for wet cold weather. When the stream came into sight, she took off in a run towards it before jumping in. A loud splash was heard before she was submerged in the slightly cold water. She popped her head out of the water comically before beginning to doggy paddle around. She would have made a funny sight to any who saw her enjoying her pastime. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - RIP Hosannah - April 17, 2016 there was not much to occupy her mind in this place. as much as hosannah coveted the time spent with her lord, she was growing despondent among the shadows. it had not been long since the announcement had been made — that she was to be paired with the young man @Gotham despite hardly knowing him. it was not something she feared. her own people were similar with their arrangements, although hosannah — at this time, with her current mentality — was struggling. their pairing and future union was not the work of the lord, but that of mortals. who was aaron to decide such things? what standard had been set to allow this? hosannah knew, too, that she was doing her duty. becoming one with a group of heathens was tricky work. she does not sleep near her partner, nor does she spend much time around him. in fact, today hosannah is adamant in her desire of staying free of him — she seeks the scent of the women among her, hoping to glean some understanding from her temporary sisters. it is liri she finds first, and it is in time to witness her slipping in to the stream. for a moment she was a distorted pale spot among the blue, and hosannah found herself thinking, how pretty, and even smiled a little smile. when liri popped back up again the red woman was closer, and sat sphinx-like alongside the stream. she crossed and uncrossed her paws, trying to settle. from the edge she called out softly, you are an ice-berg, how cute. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - Síff - April 17, 2016 Her swim was interrupted by the sound of a soft voice, one of the women of the pack. Her soggy ears turned towards the sound followed by her body. She smiled at the woman, Hosannah, whom she had met recently before being mated. "Hello, Hosannah," she greeted as she swam towards the shallows, using the woman's full name as they didn't know each other very well. She shook her fur out before padding up to the other woman, careful to do so at a distance where she wouldn't soak her companion. She had forgotten for a moment that she was damp and doubly that she was shedding, the reason for her impromptu bath. Her skin was visible through her white fluff, scars showing with it. "I hope you are liking it here, I heard you had mated Gotham. He's a bit..reserved but I believe he's a nice man," she assured with a small smile. "How is your tail?" RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - RIP Hosannah - April 18, 2016 the woman noticed her and paddled closer, then lifted free of the water. hosannah watched as the fluid drained from her body. she saw the rivulets pulling at the fringes of her coat and studied the woman's figure, finding it pleasing to her eye. she looked away while liri dried herself off in part to avoid the errant splatter of the distant drips and in part because it was indecent of her to watch — the woman was bathing after all — but soon enough the pale woman was drifting closer, and her voice carried. i was paired to him, yes, hosannah confirmed this without issue; she did correct the phrasing a little, as the term liri used was far more vulgar within the red woman's mind. they had not yet done anything; their union was only a spoken one. until consummation, hosannah considered herself a free agent. the topic slipped away from the matches briefly (much to the joy of the zealot) and she smiled sweetly to her friend. it is healing well. i am thankful to have your help. perhaps if i had found this place sooner...oh, but she trailed off there, finding her tone lilting with a subtle sadness. perhaps it was best to focus on aaron's arrangements after all. with a curious tilt to her sharp face, hosannah queried the woman. what of your match? is your man well chosen?of course hosannah only assumed that each woman had been spoken for at this point. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - Síff - April 18, 2016 She smiled, concerned at the woman's sadness but it didn't linger as Hosannah moved on to other subjects. Questionably, Liri as her subject. She ducked her head, smiling shyly as she thought of Sam. He was a good man in her opinion even if she was a bit nervous being around him after mating him. "I think it was. He's my best friend, I wouldn't have chosen anyone else to mate with. His name is Samuel if you know him?" RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - RIP Hosannah - April 18, 2016 she shook her ginger head, i do not. sadly the forest seems to swallow everyone up.at this her gaze flits around as if she were nervous of the very trees around them — and that wouldn't be far from the truth. and it is good that he is your friend? i was under the impression that these matches were made without much thought, but perhaps aaron has your best interest at heart.as for hosannah, she could not fathom why she had been paired with gotham; likely it was because there were no other men to take her. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - Síff - April 18, 2016 "That it does," she chuckled airly. She nodded in response to the other's question, not recognizing that woman feared their home. It would have been unfathomable to her as to why, she loved their shady forest abode. It was not hard to pinpoint Anna's trail of thought. "Yes, I believe he has everyone's best interests in mind when he decides who will mate who. There must be a reason you and Gotham were paired together, perhaps you just don't know it yet," she smiled kindly at the reddish woman. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - RIP Hosannah - April 21, 2016 of course there must, she concurred, but the worried expression settled once more upon her narrow features. did aaron believe they were kindred spirits, perhaps? or maybe that they were comprised of a similar aesthetic and that their children would boast a great beauty? she had not thought much about the mateship or its intended outcome, and found that this line of thought only bothered her. so hosannah dropped it from her mind for the time being. she settled upon observing liri, and smiled kindly to her. how is the water? i imagine it is quite cool now, and refreshing.soon the spring winds would die down and summer would take hold of the land — the most holy of seasons, she thought — and it would soon be time for celebration. hosannah turned to regard the creek but her attention was not entirely devoted to it; her mind seemed to be busy, and soon her gaze glossed over with many thoughts. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - Síff - April 21, 2016 "It's quite pleasant for a swim this time of year,"Liri assured her with a grin. It faded from her features, being replaced with a concerned look as she regarded her friend hesitantly. "Are you okay,Hosannah? You seem a bit distracted. If something's bothering you, you can speak to me about it,"she offered sincerely, nudging the other friendly. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - RIP Hosannah - April 21, 2016 she had not been so cautious with her expressions, or perhaps liri was just that astute - either way, hosannah knew to take more care with herself. she did not wish to discuss what ailed her, but the woman was kind. hosannah trusted that their conversation would not be shared among the others of the pack. to be truthful, i worry, she offered up first. i am a devout woman — i have a faith, and i wonder often if this faith will be accepted here. my people have similar marriage arrangements but,and here she takes a careful breath, seemingly to compose herself. it requires consummation within the fortnight. i have no qualms with that, but i do not know my husband. i do not know a thing about him and... i worry, i think he may find me.. troublesome in my ways. it took some skill to avoid details about her faith, and if asked she would evade — but for now hosannah looked to her friend plainly, seeking answers. they were both in the same boat so-to-speak; both were new wives to young men that they barely knew. liri appeared to be trusting of the way of her leader, but it was hosannah that doubted mortal man. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - Síff - April 21, 2016 Liri nodded, it was troubling to think you wouldn't be accepted amongst your pack simply because of your beliefs. She smiled encouragingly at Anna,"You won't have to worry about me accepting you and I don't think any of the others here will be treating you differently." "As for Gotham, I think you two should get to know each other before delving into personal stuff like religion and all that. As for consummation, don't worry about that. Aaron expects us not to sleep with our mates, he doesn't want unwanted litters running amuck. Only he and possibly the Beta pair will be allowed to do that, maybe some of us others later on but not right now so don't feel pressured to do anything physical with Gotham,"she assured her friend. She felt kinda like Sam being all consueling for the other woman, perhaps she and Sam could become a tag team kinda thing. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - RIP Hosannah - April 23, 2016 the woman spoke of things that had crossed hosannah's mind as well, but it was a comfort to hear the thoughts spoken aloud. though when liri explained the will of aaron their leader, her brow once more furrowed. he weds us, but we are not to complete the ritual? how odd.but then, this was a different place. if aaron chose to do the ritual halfway, then it served to corrupt everything; hosannah could not consider herself wed without the proper ending, which to her was the joining of two bodies as one. it also seemed as if liri had not heard her — the act of intercourse did not frighten hosannah, as it was only a physical dance between two mortals. there was nothing special about it, or so she had been taught. the way of her people was very different from these oddities, to be sure. but you are right, the woman finally conceded. perhaps i only need to meet this gotham, speak to him, and understand him. you are very wise, deketor. with this new thought budding in her mind, hosannah knew there was little time before she would seek out gotham, to get to know him. she did not entirely want to know him — her stay here was enlightening but she worried for her immortal soul; to deviate from the teachings of the priests in order to condemn the sinful and the afflicted was one thing, but hosannah was nervous still that she was going too far from her roots. liri — i will seek him out now, in fact. you are a skilled counselor, and i am grateful.with a prompt little bow of her head, hosannah turned and was off - not waiting for further communication - although once she swept back among the shadows of the forest she was so filled with doubts that she did not follow through, and would venture away from the territory for respite. RE: I spend my nights dancing with my own shadow - Síff - April 23, 2016 She thanked Hosannah for her kind words, though she knew not what a deketor was. Her brown eyes watched as the other disappeared into the forest once more, Liri turning and cannonballing back into the water. |
