All is fair in love and brostep - Peregrine Redhawk - March 22, 2014 He's looking for @Crete (no obligation, Tokio!) but this is open to anyone. :) A familiar twinge in his gut yanked Peregrine out of sleep. He stepped out of the den into the pale colors of daybreak, trotted a good distance away from the den and took a very relieving dump in a shaft of sunlight breaking gently through the budding treetops. Once he finished, he began to pad back toward the den. He didn't like to be away from Hawkeye lately, since he knew she was close to her due date. Peregrine understood that she would want her space when the time came, yet he wouldn't miss it for the world, even if he had to watch from afar. En route, he caught a whiff of Crete. He must have passed this way not long ago. Peregrine paused, suddenly unsure. He cast a glance in the direction of the den, then made an impromptu decision to track his mute sibling. He hadn't seen as much of Crete as he'd like lately. Especially with his children getting ready to make their debut, he wanted to make sure each of his siblings knew they were welcome to be part of the pups' lives, even if some of them (Atti, he thought with a sigh) were still on shaky ground with him. "Crete?" he called softly into the quiet morning air, his black ears thrusting upward. "Crete? You around here somewhere?" RE: All is fair in love and brostep - Crete - March 22, 2014 I'm going to say this is before the mate thread, because i'm not sure where it all fits into the timeline. xD
It was true that Crete had been distant from many for a while, thoughtful about his strange reaction to the fawn colored Thistle, so abrupt and strong even though they knew nothing about one another, especially because Crete was not a believer in ‘love at first sight’. In fact, he scoffed at the notion finding it inherently ridiculous. There remained many things that Crete was skeptical of. He had managed to check the caches and patrol, regardless of his seclusion from most of the world. In a way, Crete was happy like this. In one fell swoop, he avoided any more unnecessary trouble that would be sure to find him, and Hawkeye, of whom he had gotten no where with. Despite Peregrine’s optimism the woman had not sought him out, but to be fair, neither did Crete seek her. They would never get along, Crete would never apologize, and there were frightening moments when he fluctuated on how he felt about her and Peregrine’s kids, flitting between hating them and feeling guilt for being like that. To this, seclusion was better. He had been heading back to his den when Peregrine’s voice cut through the morning air for him. For a second, Crete hesitated on the edge, before he dutifully made his way to where Peregrine was, moving close to his brother to lick him under the chin in an affectionate notion, before he questioned his alpha with his eyes. table by houkie RE: All is fair in love and brostep - Peregrine Redhawk - March 22, 2014 Edit: Um... editing this to conclude it...
When he finally spotted Crete, Peregrine's eyes softened. He let his brother come to him, though when Crete licked him beneath the chin, Peregrine playfully pushed him away with his swarthy muzzle. "Don't do that, dude," he said. "You're my brother, not my subordinate. I mean, don't tell anyone else that, of course," he added with a conspiratorial glimmer in his eye. He chuckled a moment later. In a way, all secrets were safe with Crete. "How have you been, bro? You and Atti are tough to track down these days, you know." He gave Crete a playful look of reproof, then continued, "Mine and Hawkeye's pups will be here any day. I know you don't care for her much and I wish there was more I could do to help that. But, in any case, I want you to know I'd love you to be a part—preferably a big part—of our pups' lives." Peregrine felt a lightening of his chest after issuing this important message. After giving Crete the opportunity to make a reply if he had one, the swarthy Alpha gave voice to a question that had been buzzing around in his mind but which he hadn't even acknowledged until now, even as it spilled from his lips. "Do you think you'll stay here? Or go back to Flightless Falcons? Or... somewhere else? I just... I get the feeling like it's only a matter of time before you and Atti go your own way. And I fucking hate it but... I want you to know that if you ever do leave, for any reason, I won't hold it against you. Unless you don't visit, in which case I'll track you down and beat your ass." Peregrine truly meant it when he said he wouldn't hold his decision against Crete, whether he opted to stay or go. But when his mute brother disappeared without a word (hurrhurr) in the coming weeks, the Alpha male's tune would change. Going back home to find his happiness was okay but doing it without telling anybody—and right when Peregrine's pups were due—would leave a permanent blemish on the brothers' relationship. |
