A hundred jewels between teeth - Maevra - July 01, 2016 Birdsong awoke Minna, she rolled onto her side and opened her eyes a fraction. As she slowly woke, the hot, humid air became apparent, as well as the steady drum of a summer's morning rain outside her stone den. She opened her eyes completely, morning sun muted by the rain and clouds that had to be above. She stretched with a smile, for the rain was welcome. It was light but offered precious water to the many recovering plants below. She stood, and strode to the entrance of her stone den. Scenting the air, she noted not only the scent of rain, but of birds, raccoons, squirrels, deer, and the faint, yet noticeable scent of skunk. Deer. Her eyes widened, her nostrils flared as she sought to catch the scent again. She stepped out of the den, rain dampening her pelt, and peered through the thick, moist foliage. She could not see anything, but a scent told her that it had to be true. Her small frame trotted quickly along the river's edge, nose to the ground, fighting for a single scent above hundreds of others. But, suddenly, it strengthened, and Minna's keen eyes sought out a small pile of droppings, perfectly small and round in their form. Most definitely deer. So the land had returned, after all these weeks, and that meant that the Wilds were recovered. The famine, at least here was over. And so the hunter, the lithe girl with the patchwork pelt, lifted back her muzzle, calling for those of the pack. She called for those that would heed her call, those who wished for the chance at a meal. They would need larger numbers to take down this prey, for many weeks of near starvation had left them weak. But this, this was the perfect chance to reclaim their lost weight, to strengthen themselves. She set off on the trail of the deer, as it distanced itself from the river, rain falling all the while through the humid, warm air. She passed piles of droppings along the way, and then she passed one that was fresh. Her amber eyes gleamed, and she stilled her figure. She crept along the scent trail now, and, quite suddenly, there they were. Three of them, all does, one looked younger than the rest. She was still crouched low in the undergrowth, hoping that the others would heed her hunting call. RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Kierkegaard - July 02, 2016
The call struck his ears, and the ghostly figure raised his skull upward to determine the location of the female. She had been the first to come upon him after he had claimed the throne – ripped it from Aaron’s grasp. Minna, he recalled her name with a firm frown. Though her submission had been given to him in a forced nature, she had done well to provide him with the things he had asked, and Kierkegaard had found himself grateful. The summons was for prey, and the great brute found himself hungering at the thought of a meal.
The famine had been the factor that had drove the best into the territory that belonged to the Rosings wolves. He had been driven mad by the lack of food and had found – in his manic state – that his only means of survival would be to take a place in the pack. Had he been one to choose carefully, he would have made a challenge on the borders of a different location. Instead, he had only found himself in Rosings because of the scent of blood that had filtered through the air. Kierkegaard had come for the rabbit, but had taken the whole pot. Drawing himself through the thick of the wood, the brute picked his steps carefully to avoid spooking the potential prey that had found its way into the lion’s den. Once he had caught sight of the familiar figure in the foliage, he slowed in behind her and peered at the deer through the brush. It had been a good call from the female. He drew his gaze to her and nodded his head in a manner of praise for the wolf. Should others heed the call, they would be allowed to feast for the first time in over a month. RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Pallas Stormthorn - July 02, 2016 Pallas had not been far from Kierkegaard when Minna's call echoed in the forest. She lifted her haggard muzzle, her tired gaze fixing on Kierkegaard as he made for Minna's direction. There had been so little to eat that Pallas had avoided her packmates by and large; she found hunger made her irritable, which in term made her feckless. She was not about to repeat the same mistake she had with Liri if she could help it. She fell in step behind Kierkegaard, her torn ears swiveling as they passed under tree and branch. Her breath was stolen from her then as she caught sight of the implausible, a sundappled, foraging band of does illuminated by angled amber pylons of sun. It was a majestic sight that Pallas was entirely unappreciative of, for it was only food she cared for. Eagerly she hunkered down into the brush, her starving gaze resting on the deer as she awaited instruction. RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Tantalus - July 02, 2016 Aaron arrives quietly, his body mostly recovered by now. It was scarred, but no longer bled or hurt when he moved. For now his wounds were simply reminders, simply scars-- both physical and mental. He steps forward with his head low and his tail between his legs. It was pitiful, and he felt humiliated to be so submissive in his own home-- but he didn't have any other choice. He looks to Kierkegaard briefly, waiting to be acknowledged in some way. Would he be allowed to stay? Or would he be forced to leave?
RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Síff - July 02, 2016 Liri had been at the river, a hotspot for the healer ever since she had joined, raising her head and pricking her ears in the direction of Minna's call. Everyone had been scarce about the territory and eerily quiet as if it were the calm before the storm. Responding eagerly at the chance of food, Liri followed the call across the forest. The sight of the unknown male, whom was obviously Kierkegaard, threw her slightly. Liri had imagined him up in her head to be some ugly, gruesome creature -- not unlike Pallas's grizzled appearance -- but he was not. The usurper appeared to be an ordinary male. Liri had to keep a carefully collected expression on her face, nodding at the assembled wolves as she approached. A tiny band of deer had gathered in the meadow, grazing peacefully. It might have been a beautiful, awe-inspiring sight had Liri not been a ravenous wolf just coming out of a famine. Licking her chops eagerly, Liri waited to hear the game plan for their next meal. RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Leto Wolf - July 03, 2016 sorry I haven't been active guys, work was hectic here of late but now I'm ready to thread the days away!
Leto had kept under the radar, not wanting to draw the attention of any of their rivals as Liri had done. Maybe it hadn't been the best idea to fight Kierkegaard's henchman (henchwoman?) but he couldn't really blame his fiery little sister. He wanted to tear a chunk out of the haggard woman himself for even daring to speak ill of his LiLi. Not even to mention the fight. Leto arrived, glancing at Minna for a beat longer than he might have if he had seen her recently. It was neither of their faults really, he would put her in danger of his affections were known. Yet Leto couldn't help pining over her. The deer drew his attention, making his stomach rumble hungrily. The former warrior glanced at the others as if to ask them what the game plan was. RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Amara - July 08, 2016 as the call arose for her presence as well as the packs, she considered staying behind. what was she to them? a commoner, a healer, a wife? the alpha did not know her own title, for none had called her an alpha in ages. it was not fair to them, to impose submission when none respected her for her rightful title. she was fooling herself and them when she made an apperance; had expected her to act like an alpha and take down keiregaard, or had they expect nothing from her at all. what had she truly proved to them that she was worthy of such a title. nothing. she could not even hold her own pack when aaron had forfeited his regin. yet, she pushed herself out of the shadows of the den, telling herself tht acting cowardly would only loose their respect even more. instead of hanging her head, she loped to thr group with pride, intent on assisting where she was capable. she would hunt, and she would prove that she was more than the ex-alpha's wife. she nears the group, suprised to see aaron too, but then pushes to the front, assuming her place as alpha female. her head is held high; scanning the group to see who had joined. her eyes zeroed in on an unruly looking female, no doubt one of keirkegaard's followers; and instantly feels threatened. while she was no match for the females rough looks; the woman would respect her as an alpha as well. "minna, this is your hunt. what do we do?" she changed attention to the female, her eyes full of determination. she awaited for the directions given by the girl, for she could not simply attempt it on her own. amara had not proven herself to hunt big game; but they needed it now, more than ever. RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Samuel - July 09, 2016 He heard the song of Minna, alerting the pack that a meal has stumbled onto the grounds. Her howl was almost lost in the thumping rain, but Samuel was half-awake and was able to pick up on it. Dragging himself out of his den, he made his way over to the pack. The fur softly drummed against his pelt, making him have a darker coat color. Seeing that most of the pack was there, he remained quiet and headed towards Liri. He wanted the deer meat, he wanted something to eat. His gaze turned towards the new leader for a moment. He wanted him gone. But for now, his main attention was on Minna. RE: A hundred jewels between teeth - Maevra - August 13, 2016 The others arrived, though Amara was the only one to address her. It was her hunt, her plan. Suddenly feeling nervous, in the slightest, Minna begun. "I think we should split up. Two should circle around, and startle the deer towards us. The rest should stay here, ready to ambush them when they come towards here." She looked at each of her pack members with thanks for their support, and searching for agreement. When it seemed that she had it, she spoke again. "Leto and I will circle around. The rest of you, will stay here and make the kill. We'll come from behind and help." With a flick of her tail towards the male, she split away, making a second's eye-contact with Aaron before moving out of eye sight. She circled around the deer, and when both she and Leto were in position, she signalled to him with a glance. she sprung out and toward the deer, which bolted, as expected, in the general direction of the main group. So sorry for the delay! Some mild PP to move the hunt along, hope it is okay!
