We all make mistakes - Squirrel - July 11, 2016 for @Gray! Welcome to Ryujin!
It was night when Texi slipped from her den, a tiny cave nestled into the walls of Sunspire Mountain. It wasn't often that Texiceia had nights like these, where she just felt crushed beneath the anxiety of her dreams and had to get out, get away from herself. Tonight was one such night, filled with dreams of lost family and snapping teeth against her neck. Squirrel weaved among the trees, not paying attention to her surroundings for she was too lost in thought. The creamy woman found herself on one of the many rocky ledges, staring skyward to the heavens. The stars twinkled brightly, lending the girl a strange sort of comfort. Squirrel lay down with a small sigh, still peering upwards to the star speckled sky. RE: We all make mistakes - Gray - July 12, 2016 Rolling over, Gray gets up from the ground where he had been sleeping, or at least trying to. Sadly he had not been doing much in the way of it this night. Standing he started walking outside slowly still limping fairly hard from his tumble earlier. His paw was not hurting much anymore, but it still felt vary week when he walked on it. Slowly and carefully he made his way out of the den, staying as quiet as possible so that not to disturb anyone. When he was outside, he looked up to the night sky briefly smiling, before he started down into the forest wondering amongst the trees, and feeling the cool air of the night. Walks like this always helped to relax him. Sometime later, Gray was coming up the side of a rocky ledge when he spotted something. The other wolf was laying down watching the night sky. He thought he should say something, he knew it was the respectful thing to do. But instead he found himself climbing the last couple steps up to the out cropping, and sitting down a few paces away, looking off in the same direction. Too soon after did he find himself enrapture by the dancing star light of the night sky. RE: We all make mistakes - Squirrel - July 12, 2016 Squirrel raised her head curiously as a male approached. He was a pale coated wolf, not uncommon in this pack, and was limping for some reason. He didn't speak, only settling down some distance away. Texi wasn't sure whether or not to disturb him, seeing his silence as he too stared skyward. "Are you hurt?" Squirrel spoke up tentatively, sitting up and moving closer to speak easily with the unknown male. "Are you new here?" Texiceia cocked her head to the side slightly, curiosity on her face. RE: We all make mistakes - Gray - July 12, 2016 Gray sat there looking up at the sky. He couldn’t think back to the last time he had just been able to sit and do nothing. Ever since he had been separated from his berth pack he had been traveling, only stopping for the most basic of necessities. He didn’t know how long he would be staying here, but It was going to take him a while to get used to settling down again. Soon the silence of the night was halted as the other wolf spoke; Gray turned his head and watched as she approached. He listened intently to her questions, the first one he answered immediately, “Oh, yes I hurt my paw when I got here. But it is nothing really.” He stated with a sweet smile at her concern. Her second question he needed to think about more. Technically he was new here but he had a feeling she was talking more about the pack, and not the land… He wasn’t really sure if he was a part of the pack or not. Asterr had told him he was a Kegare witch later he had learned was more or less a servant. Finally deciding how he wanted to answer her question. He said simply “You could say I am new around here. My name is Gray, may I ask who you are?” RE: We all make mistakes - Squirrel - July 13, 2016 Texiceia nodded in response, she wasn't a healer and probably wouldn't have been able to help besides asking around to figure out who else could help him. "Oh. Okay, as long as you're fine," Squirrel returned the smile, unsure what else to say to his answer. "Well that's kinda hard to explain. My birth name is Squirrel but I also go by Texiceia or just Texi for short," Texi explained, sheepishly shrugging. It was a long list of names she had to offer and it has become habit to give the same spiel whenever she met a new person. "It's nice to meet you Gray. Do you like Ryujin?" Texiceia didn't seem to have a sense of personal space, flopping down onto her belly next to him. RE: We all make mistakes - Gray - July 13, 2016 Gray watched as she came closer to laid down directly beside him, he wasn’t really sure what to do, he felt a little uncomfortable with the more or less stranger so close to him. But at the same time he didn’t want to seem rude by moving, He tried to just look as stoic as he could, although he felt he wasn’t doing a very good job at it. “To be honest I don’t really know if I like Ryujin, I only just got here after all.” He said honestly not really knowing much about the pack. As an afterthought he smiled and said. “Scenery’s nice though, love all the mountains.” He said with a chuckle. “What about you? Do you like it here?” he asked looking down at the cream colored wolf by his side. RE: We all make mistakes - Squirrel - July 13, 2016 Squirrel remained where she was, knocking a pebble about with her paw and not noticing his discomfort. He didn't speak for a moment, when he did he brought up his general newness and how he wouldn't know if he liked it yet. "True," she murmured, still rolling the pebble. "Me?" Texi glanced up, surprised as many people didn't ask her questions beyond her name and trade. "It's nice I suppose. I don't see much of the other packmates, the ones here longer than me. It's mostly you recruits I hang out with," Texi answered, a flicker of sadness flitting through her blue eyes at the thought of her sister. She had been the main reason Texiceia joined the pack and now she was gone. Squirrel gave a small shake, as if to get rid of the negative thought. "Do you have a trade? Or a trade you would like to have one day?" Texi returned to the pebble, rolling it between her paw and the mountain ledge. RE: We all make mistakes - Gray - July 13, 2016 He listened to her watching as she fidgeted with a pebble. When she had finished he had to think about it for a minute, did he have any trade he could call his own? “Well I guess, I enjoy hunting, but I am not really that skilled in it. I am just good enough to get by on my own... I suppose, I enjoy exploring too, but I don’t really think that is a trade.” He stated a little sheepishly, realizing that he didn’t have vary many skills. He had just never really been interested in things astronomy, herbalism, hell he hardly even knew any history prior to his berth. He let out a long sigh, looking back up to the sky. “Honestly, I don’t even know why I am here.” He said more to himself then anyone. He had never really been the one to fit in, although he was not a misfit ether. He excelled in things he worked at, but lacked all ambition to put any effort in to anything. He had always just been there, never standing out, for better or for worse. RE: We all make mistakes - Squirrel - July 13, 2016 Squirrel shrugged, thinking his response sounded a bit like her own. "Hunting is always necessary, no matter how skilled you are," she pointed out in what she hoped was a reassuring way. "You could always become a Mercenary if you excel at physical things," Squirrel commented before catching onto his last statement. "Oh there's a trade for exploring, it's called Scout." Catching the sad tone of his voice, Squirrel stopped playing with the pebble and glanced upwards at him. "Hey, don't think that way. Everyone comes to Ryujin for a reason, it's just a matter of what that reason is. You don't always know right away," Texi tried to comfort him a bit. "For instance, I thought that my sister was the reason I came here...but I was wrong. Something else is waiting for me. I just have to figure it out. You have a purpose here as well." RE: We all make mistakes - Gray - July 14, 2016 Gray snorted at the thought of him being a mercenary. He often felt bad for the rabbits he so often hunted. He couldn't see himself killing even with reason. It just wasn't him. A scout on the other paw was a lot more to his interest, but he couldn't think on how it could be considered a trade. Maybe for mapping? Or finding animal migration paths? Regardless he was certainly going to keep it in mind. He continued listening to her patiently waiting for her to finish. "I am sure you are right. I'll find my place when the time is right." He said simply, letting himself slide down in to a more or less laying position. "So you have a sister who is a part of the pack?" He asked conversationally, worrying his question may seem intrusive. RE: We all make mistakes - Squirrel - July 14, 2016 He agreed, laying down nearby in the process. Squirrel nodded, dropping the subject of why he was there. Gray had snorted when she mentioned being a Mercenary so she assumed that was a decline, though a simple 'no' would have sufficed. "Yeah. Her name was Bird but she changed her name to Ezimette when she joined. I followed her here, we were separated as children. But after the locusts hit she dissapeared," Texi rested her head on her paws, saddened by the brief story. RE: We all make mistakes - Avannon - July 14, 2016 The ghostly female had been hunting earlier, and had caught a rabbit, and found a recently deceased Vole. She had sniffed the vole to make sure it smelled alright, and it seemed to be fine, so she had picked it up. Unable to sleep Avannon tossed and turned in the Lair her eyes flicking to the gap in the ceiling, the stars twinkling at her as if asking her to get up and join them in the cool night. She huffed a sigh as she watched the newcomer get up and leave. Deciding it was probably better to leave so her tossing and turning didnt wake the pack, she climbed to her paws, and scampered up the hill into the open night. Sniffing the air she smelled texi's Faint scent and the unfamiliar scent of the one who had joined recently. She went to the spot where she buried her prey and dug the two pieces up, carrying them both in her jaws as she followed the scent. Arriving where the two lay conversing, she wagged her tail in greeting, and dropped the prey "Hi Texi. I hope i am not bothering you. I brought some food if you both want to share?" she asked greeting her friend first before turning a curious gaze toward the male. She sat down and dipped her head "Greetings, i am Avannon" she introduced her blue gaze piercing the male with a straightforward stare. RE: We all make mistakes - Gray - July 15, 2016 Gray continued to lay there, slightly lost in thought, but when he was about to ask Texiceia what she meant by Locusts a new voice spoke up. Gray immediately leapt to his feet, not defensive, but more due to being startled in the middle of the night and off guard. The new wolf introduced herself as Avannon, as she sat with what looked to be a rabbit on the ground in front of her. She was looking his way, and not wanting to seem rude, Gray introduced himself back to her promptly. “Nice to meet you Avannon, My name is Gray.” He said dipping his head in mimic of her motion. “I take it you two know each other?” he asked simply as he relaxed back into a sitting position. It was then that he really took notice of the wolfs he was with. It was a little difficult to see clearly in only the moons light. but the others both had light coloured fur, and blue eyes, not unlike himself. He wondered how many others in Ryujin also fell under this appearance. Regardless to the coincidence he was happy to get to see a new face, and meet yet another of the ones he would be serving during his time at Ryujin. RE: We all make mistakes - Squirrel - July 16, 2016 Squirrel had not been expecting to see Avannon up this late, much like she hadn't expected any of the pack to be, and a brief expression of surprise flitted across her face. It dissapeared quickly enough and Texi smiled at her friend, tail wagging happily. Her gaze turned to Gray curiously, head cocking at his sudden flinch that brought him to his feet. "Oh thanks," Texiceia told Ava, taking a small piece of rabbit for herself. She didn't want to seem rude by not taking any but she also didn't want to be greedy, quickly finishing off the portion. "Oh yes, me and Ava are friends. She found me beating up a tree," Squirrel explained as if it were the most natural thing in the world. |
