the girl who loved tom gordon - Relmyna - July 27, 2016

hiram had been gone for much too long, and while jhala was capable, vuk's heart had turned to stone in the man's absence. the beta was no follower of raas, she did not think, only willfully thrown into it by reek's insistence. it was either that or lose her rank and also her place at the grotto. vuk herself spat on the very tenets of kesheph's teaching -- they had won her nothing.

it was with anger that she patrolled the borders, a vengeful little angel burning with ire as her pelt glowed in the shadows. what could be done? and in vuk's heart there grew an idea, one darker than any other she had hatched before.

but it was seff who occupied her thoughts. the boy had gone missing and she was sick with worry; she had looked everywhere for him but seff was nowhere to be found, and dread settled into her gut.

RE: the girl who loved tom gordon - Jhala - July 28, 2016

As Jhala did nothing but patrol borders these days, it was no surprise that she came across Vuk. The dark girl found the patchwork mother wandering the borders herself-- and she was unsure if this shocked her or not.

"Vuk!" She calls from a little ways off, beginning at a trot to meet her friend.

-- as always, sorry for terrible formatting. I'll do the best I can --

jhala arrived quickly, and vuk turned wild, tear-filled eyes upon her companion. "seff! he is g-gone!" she exclaimed in a cracking voice, before lunging away from the beta, to look and to search, to call the name of her son in a choked whisper, for she could not longer scream lest her voice be lost.

RE: the girl who loved tom gordon - Terich-mir - August 02, 2016

Terich was nearby when he heard Vuk's strangled cry, and followed her voice to where she was running from Jhala. With an apologetic look to the beta, Terich tore after Vuk, keeping pace with her as he asked, What's happened? Where is he? Worry, anger, and fear played in his heart as they ran.

oops!

"seff!" vuk screamed, scarcely aware of terich at her shoulder, or his questions. she was alone and her son was gone. the woman's head swam and she paused to grit her teeth against a wave of nausea. "h-he s-snuck a-away," she wailed, sobbing. how horrid a mother was she! and now she had forever lost her boy.

sorry! idk how i missed this eck.

With a wide gaze, Jhala moved to comfort her friend, nudging her cheek and neck softly. "No... no Vuk it's alright, man... we'll.. we'll find him, I swear. He'll show up," she says, her voice softer than normal-- it's rough edge lost in the emotions she felt for her friend. As she tried to hold her friend close, she looks to Terich, hoping for a better counsellor in him than herself-- or for the man to say something worthwhile, not just stand there and stare.

Terich's heart nearly broke with Vuk's words, with the grief that threatened to steal her away. But he simply shook his head, took a deep breath, and spoke, We'll find him, Vuk. Where did you last see him? He touched her gently, giving her a soft lick on her cheek, hoping to calm her down enough to answer him. They'd have to find his scent trail, and follow it. That would be the only way to find such a small youth in this large territory.

last post from me!

they reached out to her, touched her -- she stiffened beneath their words, even the soft sound of them. but she did not pull away; vuk found the words to describe how she and seff had lain down in a little glade within the packlands the night before, to enjoy the stars, and how she had awoke to find the nest beside her cold and her son gone.
