We're painted red to fit right in - Shink - July 31, 2016 As evening drew near and the light began to slowly diminish, so did the heat, blessing the Isle as the temperature dropped to an exceedingly comfortable level. The agouti boy found himself trotting through the shaded trees as he neared the edge of the woodland, relishing in the the cool spell as he emerged from the underbrush and out into the meadow. Perhaps he could spend this time developing his tracking skills, hunting down a rabbit if he could just like he had seen his father do countless times. With his nose to the ground as his ears pricked for an put sign of movement, he let his paws carry him onwards through the wild flowers, a light breeze tickling his pelt as he moved through their swaying stems. His nostrils flared as the enticing scent of the critter flooded into his glands and he paused, one paw in the air as his gaze followed the direction it had been going. No sign of it yet. With an annoyed flick of his tail, he swivelled his head back to look at the forest, waiting to see if one of him comrades would join him on this rabbit expedition. RE: We're painted red to fit right in - Aeronwyn - July 31, 2016 It seemed she was scouting often these days, though she had little interest in earning the trade, however, she knew someone that did. Though she enjoyed travel, she had an idea of the skills she wished to learn and the trade she wished to pursue, second to her mercenary, of course. She had finally earned her specialty, and with it the ranks she had so longed for. Finally, she was the pack's warlord; she would bear the title with pride, perform the task well. She was the first and only scholar, though she hoped with the influx of others the other scholar positions would gradually fill. Soon, she would put down her scouting and travel and stay only within the confines of the pack, most of the time, for her paws grew weary of this constant travel. But first, she had a duty to fulfill, and she would bring Shink along, should he so wish. It would help him get the scout trade he aimed for, and would give her a traveling companion as she sought out nearby packs. If pressed, she would have to come up with a fake name for herself, she was not so foolish as to leave a trail for the brotherhood to follow. But first came the task of asking Shink to be her companion as she travelled up the coast, and perhaps into the Great Bear wilderness. She tracked him down quickly, though her motives for the day were different from his. She alerted him to her presence with a chuff, greeting him with a few words. "Shink, I have something to ask of you, if you would be willing for a few days of travel." she said bluntly, mind on the matter and wanting to get straight to the point. RE: We're painted red to fit right in - Shink - August 01, 2016 Shink's status within the pack was one of low authority, inconspicuous compared to the rank of his Lord and Lady, and Aeronwyn for that matter. He admired her dedication, believing she fully deserved her title of warlord. Now the agouti boy had something to work towards; a wolf that he could view as an inspiration to compel his to gain his trades. Though he had almost completed his mercinary trade, he had a feeling he would not follow the path of a warrior, at least not to earn him his rank. He'd much prefer to focus on something that made him feel free yet useful within pack life. As a light chuff split the natural hum of the meadow, he turned his head, his honeyed pools residing upon an approaching figure as she arrived. Perhaps Aeronwyn would help him hunt, aid him in tracking down the many critters that made their home amidst the wild flowers and tall grasses yet as she began to speak, he thought otherwise. "Of course," he replied, his tail curling in excitement as the White wraith offered him a potential journey. Not only would he be able to venture further than the plateau and the shadowed forest, but hopefully he could gain his trade and begin to figure out the lay of the land. "I'd be willing to spend a few days outside of the Isle," he added, abandoned his vision of hunting down a rabbit, his head tilted curiously as he awaited more information Sorry, I rambled -.- Hope it's alright
RE: We're painted red to fit right in - Aeronwyn - August 01, 2016 He was more then willing to assist her, it seemed, as his words and demeanor pointed out. She dipped her head in acceptance of his words, glad to hear that she would, very likely, have a companion in her travels. "Our Lord and Lady have tasked me to journey beyond the Isle, to search for settled packs near us and gain information. I have no desire to seek out a scout trade, and such a journey would be wasted on me alone. Besides, a companion would definitely increase efficiency, and I myself would be glad for another on my travels. Will you come with me, Shink?" She was straightforward and direct, clear in her wording as she made her request. She knew the Lord had opposed a journey with two, but their ranks had swelled and she would be gone merely a few days. She would ask him before leaving, of course, but merely wanted Shink's approval before she made the request. Don't worry about it :D
RE: We're painted red to fit right in - Shink - August 02, 2016 Since his recent revisit the the dark depths of the eastern woodland, Shink was growing more used to the idea of departing the aisle for short periods of time. With a tilt of his mottled head, he wondered why Aeronwyn would feel the need to travel for more than a day. Yet his concern was soon settled as the pale wraith opened her maw to speak again, her words blunt and to the point yet somehow intriguing to the ever curious boy. Unlike those ranked above him, Shink had barely ventured far, the very woods he had scouted before having been his gateway into the Wilds. Nevertheless, if he wanted to peruse the scout trade and earn his title, he'd have to put some effort into it; Aeronwyn having giving him the perfect opportunity to do so. "I'd be honoured to travel with you," he spoke eventually, his tail curling in excitement as his fellow explained her offer. "Perhaps I could even gain my trade from this trip," he added, following on from her speech. It was a daunting prospect yet he trusted the white furred comrade, more than he had with any others. RE: We're painted red to fit right in - Aeronwyn - August 05, 2016 Aeronwyn nodded, delighted with his enthusiasm. It would do her well to have a companion, one who would benefit from this journey. His answer was a yes, now she had but one more thing to do. "Good, Shink. My thanks for agreeing to travel with me. But before we go, I will speak to Burke about this. I am certain he will have little issue, as you benefit, and our ranks have grown considerably." This was all she had to ask him, and she paused momentarily before saying to him. "In a few days, if all goes well, I will howl for you. Prepare for our journey and rest." she dipped her head to him in dismissal, saying "I'll leave you know, lest you have any questions for me." She didn't want to take off and leave any concerns he had unanswered. RE: We're painted red to fit right in - Shink - August 08, 2016 He watched through honeyed pools as her pale head dipped in consent, a ripple of excitement making his body quiver at the prospect of accompanying her on her travels. The offer seemed pretty simple; a scouting trip that would last a fair few days to determine the location of neighbouring packs, perhaps to see if they were worth raising a warning about or merely a group of non-threatening canids. Whatever the outcome, the agouti boy would certainly enjoy some time away from the Isle, free to roam without the regarding eye of his Lord and Lady. "I agree," he spoke as he sensed their meeting coming to an end. "With any luck we may come across a few possible loners and inform them of Arthendal," he voiced the name proudly, raising his head in confidence, "Maybe they'd welcome a sanctuary filled with knowledge." With a dismissive shake of his head, he knew he was heading off topic, shooting her an apologetic glance as his nostrils flared. "I've no further queries," he chuffed in response to her last words, waving his tail as his paws kneaded the dry dirt. |
