Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 Eden was putting herself in danger by wandering through strange terrain and she knew it. There were others everywhere, leaving scent trails left and right. She was raised the daughter of an Alpha and knew that there would be no mercy, should she be caught overstepping boundaries, so she wandered carefully and intently. With each soft step she took, she inhaled quietly, trying to stay out of direct trails. Though she was large, it meant nothing. She was a lone female who was surviving on scraps and small game. If a confrontation came about, none of that would matter. She was vulnerable. (@Stark) RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 08, 2016 Hey there! Thanks for the tag :)
Stark was getting to be more and more crestfallen. There was no other word for it. Waking up to the sounds of Grace calling to her brother to leave the pack made him so frustrated he saw red. He hadn't gone to see them off more than coming to stand on one of the jagged edges of their home to watch them leave his lands. The male would never see them the same way again. Not after that betrayal. His numbers were falling swiftly, but, in his eyes he was doing damned near everything he could. Stark drew himself out of the Keep and down to the lake. It might be good to do some fishing or do something other than the mindless dragging of the earth for any of the four missing members of the keep. Two puppies, two adults. How in the hell could so many go missing? Stark paused as he spotted a large wolf off in the distance, giving a little chuff to draw their attention. Couldn't hurt to be social, maybe they'd seen something anyways. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 Eden's ear flicked upward at the sound of another. She turned toward the source, and tilted her head out of curiosity. "Hello?" she called. There was an obvious scent, perhaps several, and yet she approached. He was a large male standing before her, obviously distressed. She thought through the possibilities. He could be a threat; the most plausible outcome. She was vulnerable, after all. Or he could be an aide and point her in the right direction, which would be more of a blessing than anything, but she knew she had to take the chance. "I don't mean to intrude, and I don't want to fight. I'm Eden." RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 08, 2016 Stark offered a brief smile when the female turned towards him, hoping that he hadn't distracted her at all from whatever she was doing. But the next words out of her mouth promised she wasn't looking for a fight and Stark shook his head. Hell. Even if she was he was in no mood for a spar and honestly, he'd worn himself ragged tracking through the lands. "Nah, not feeling up for a match anyways." He joked, coming a little closer to her but keeping the distance respectful. "I'm Stark. My pack's not too far from here, I was just coming for some fish and to break up the monotony." It was partially the truth anyways. The rest was a vague lie, he wasn't really coming here because he was bored - but he did need to break up the endless cycle. "It's nice to meet you, Eden."
RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 The male seemed kind, so she allowed herself to breathe. She relaxed and slowly sat where she was. She was exhausted, after all. However, she didn't allow the relief to show. "Who are you? I mean, your name. What do they call you?" It had been a while since she last had to introduce herself, and her rusty skills showed through. Though it seemed that he wasn't up for a conversation, she needed one. She needed to know someone else was really there. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 08, 2016 Maybe she hadn't heard him, or maybe her nerves made it hard to focus. He understood. "Stark." He repeated, offering a nod. He thought she'd said Eden, but he didn't want to put his foot in his mouth. "You just wandering?" He assumed - he didn't catch many other scents on her coat, none of the ones he was looking for especially. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 Eden felt at ease with the ability to put a name to a face. But with this new name came the one question she dreaded most: what is she doing out here? Of course, she expected others to wonder, but she didn't want to have to say it. She had a story that she wasn't ready to tell. The wound was still to fresh. "I'm a wanderer. I just happened to come across these parts by chance. What pack do you belong to?" Part of the question was pure curiousity, but of course there was a part of her that wanted an idea of her surroundings. This seemed like a fair place to start. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 08, 2016 He gave a nod, smiling gently at her. "I've wandered a lot, too." He hummed out. He had been happy with that, too, continuing to wander and roam. "Marauder's Keep is my pack." His. Although he had yet to make the official claim he couldn't wait that much longer - not for Octavia to come back, and he wouldn't pressure Harlyn when she needed to heal and with everything going on with her family. "It's a nice area here," He liked it enough. He had everything he'd needed, at least. Mostly. "I've been here a few months, you missed the worst of it I'd say. There was a famine a few weeks back." RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 Eden's ears stood at attention. She was intrigued by the new conversation. "A famine?" She examined the male. He was sizeable; she could've assumed his leadership based on appearance alone. Perhaps the famine was the reason for his disposition. "How'd it work out? I don't mean to intrude..." She let herself trail off for fear of overstepping. She lowered her head and looked away; she didn't need an unnecessary conflict. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 08, 2016 Stark shrugged, looking at his paws for a brief moment before he looked up at Eden again. "We made it, just squeaked by. Only one of our wolves perished." Stark explained. "We're fortunate to have the river and lake nearby, we ate a lot of fish for awhile." He said with a small chuckle. Some of the other packs probably hadn't made it so well, but, he hadn't known enough about them to really make that call. "Was everything alright where you came from?"
RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 Eden could feel her heart flit in her chest when the question was posed. She didn't remember much of where she came from other than the pain that it caused her. One thing remained constant in her mind, and those were her mother's words: "Remember, sweetheart, I am always with you. Even when you can't see me, I am within you." She remembered her mother's face when as Eden's uncle mercilessly took her life. "It's been years since I was last home. I don't remember much." She did, however, remember her brother. He was the last member of her family she had seen and that was nearly a year ago. "I'm sorry to hear about that." She didn't have time to spare on reminiscing, though, so the thoughts left as soon as they'd come. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 08, 2016 They had mourned as a group, they had made it all together too. Stark wouldn't forget about the losses of the famine, and they wouldn't forget what had happened either. Stark nodded at the sentiment - they had lost one of their own but was it so bad? They could have lost more. They could have lost the puppies. "Ah, I was wandering maybe a year on my own." He said evenly. "Still saw plenty, I imagine. Not as much as you perhaps." It was said with a good natured smile, hoping he wasn't being too forward or personal.
RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 There was something about Stark that made Eden feel somewhat at ease which was a relief. Had he seen more? Possibly. They both had stories to tell, she was sure of it. "There's still more to be seen." Not for her though, if things continued the way that they had been. But with one came many, and for now, she seemed hopeful. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 08, 2016 Stark grinned over at her, tail wagging a bit. He liked her personality, she seemed friendly enough even if it was highly likely she'd gone through some unpleasant things. Maybe it was part of why she had a good personality - it was what she'd been through. "Always more. More to see, and learn about - so much more." He agreed readily. He'd never stop learning - he didn't want to stop learning.
RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - RIP Eden - August 08, 2016 Eden was flashed a grinned and mustered one herself. "I appreciate this. You speaking to me, I mean. I've been alone for quite some time now. It's means a lot." And she meant it. Sure, she had exchanged words once or twice on her journey, but they never lasted. But something about Stark made her feel welcome where she shouldn't. "I have to keep moving. Maybe we'll cross paths again." She nodded to him and stood, readying herself to continue on. RE: Move Slowly and Carefully - Stark - August 09, 2016 Stark's smile was more genuine when he looked at Eden, giving a nod as the woman spoke of wanting to keep going. "If you ever need it, give a call if you're in the area. I'll do my best to be there." He said warmly. Was he inviting her to the Keep? Not necessarily - although he wouldn't turn her away if she asked for it either. She had been polite, and still warm, and he understood the needs to keep moving and how restless one's paws could feel. "It was nice meeting you." He said before turning to head out.
