Alas, I am someone changed forever - Astra - October 08, 2016 Hoping for @Scimitar because he's the one that knows her best, but otherwise AW!
Astra stood upon the bank of the river, watching the mighty currents swish by. The river was slightly more lazy than it was in the beginning of Spring, for the snow was not melting too much anymore. But even so, the river was a dangerous thing. It could wrap you up in it's icey cold arms and take you away forever, never letting you go. Or, you could get lucky, and wash up on the shore. She did that once, as a puppy. It had carved fear in her heart whenever she looked at a river. Even though she had mostly gotten over that, a whisper of terror lingered in her even now. But even that wasn't enough to save her from another tumble. There were many questions that one could ask her: 'why were you at the river? How did you fall?' Astra could not answer any of them. All she remembers is the terrible thrill of having nothing beneath her feet, then the splash as she entered the water. She remembered screaming her muffled scream, and then pain. Pain that clouded her eyes and exploded in her head. Pain that shot down her neck and spine like a bullet entering over and over again. Then, she was on the shore, head rested on the sandy earth and bedraggled body laying motionless. She slowly stirred into consciousness to a throbbing head and the blood pounding in her ears. She felt something warm trickling down her neck from behind her ear. It smelled like blood. She didn't dare open her eyes yet, too tired and too much in pain. But when she did, she was met with blackness. At first, Astra thought that she hadn't opened her lids at all, and she tried to open them again, finding them already open. Fear gripped her heart and she screamed. RE: Alas, I am someone changed forever - Scimitar - October 19, 2016 @Astra I'm so sorry for the wait on this.
The scream was shrill enough to shoot the birds from their cozy perches within the trees. It stirred Scimitar’s own heart to a plummet, and halting sharply, his eyes widened as his muzzle shot in the direction of the noise – wondering for a stolen moment to whose voice it had belonged. Not Eshe’s. Not Kaskara.. nor Allure. He could breathe relief that his intermediate family was not involved in whatever had presented itself, but it did not stop the rising panic that one of his pack mates was in danger – and so the large male swept through the forest, his paws grazing the earth with a speed that did not encourage a silent approach, and so it was with thundering crashes that the hefty male came upon the downed body of Astra – her dark fur catching his eyes before he noted the stark ivory of her ears – it had been some time since he had seen her, and he had worried for her. “Astra,” he offered, his voice commanding in the silence that had befallen the forest now. His strides were quick as he maneuvered to her side, and bending his muzzle down, he gently grazed his nose along his shoulder, hoping to elicit a response. RE: Alas, I am someone changed forever - Astra - October 23, 2016 No prob, I'm late too!
She lay there for a long while, desperate, confused, and filled with terror. Yet she lay there, still as a log. She was petrified, she didn't know what to do. She couldn't see. Would this be forever? Would this be temporary? She was scared. Just then, a voice reached her ears. It was Scimitar and her head shot up. "S- cimitar? Scimitar wh-where a-are yo-ou?!" She exclaimed, her voice wavering with fear. Her head whipped around, eyes stretching as wide as they could. She tried so hard to see him, to find him, but not matter how hard she tried, it was no use. Her breath quickened, as did her heart until she couldn't figure out which one was faster. Between her trembling gasps for air, she whispered, "I-I c-can't s-s-see." Her voice was meek and hopeless, barely audible. RE: Alas, I am someone changed forever - Scimitar - November 01, 2016 Something had happened, though the regal was uncertain what. His eyes grazed over her with worry, and as she stammered for him, unable to see him, the agouti wolf nosed her once more, releasing a gentle whine. "I'm here, everything will be fine," he murmured, though a light frown pressed to his features. He did not truly know if it would be, or what had happened. "What happened, Astra?" His gaze worried over her, looking for signs of what to do. Neverwinter Forest had no healer, and the realization had never made him nervous until that moment. |
