Let me tell you about life - Laurel - October 09, 2016 Laurel's days were lonely and riddled with self-hate. Some days she wished that she had come home with Saena, but what good would that have done? Her own mother hated her and thought she was a child. Reek made many promises but none that he could keep. He was a liar and @Hiram spent time taking care of @Jhala even though he had promised that he would spend time with the girls whenever they wanted. Some days when Laurel would stare into the lake she felt like pushing her head underwater. Some days she did, but then as breath ran out she would always think of Indra... The only thing she felt was worth it in life at the moment. Today she found her way to Jhala's den. She hoped that she was sleeping, hoped that she would find @Tapat or @Astik there alone instead so she could teach them how unfair life really was. RE: Let me tell you about life - Jhala - October 09, 2016 But Jhala never left. Very rarely did the Vicar leave the den for anything, and if she did she left Reek inside to guard the children. Astik and Tapat meant a lot to her, despite their unwelcomed arrival in the first place. She didn't want to leave them by themselves, and most certainly didn't want to let others near them while she was away.
She was exhausted though, so when Laurel poked her bitchy little head through the door Jhala gave nothing but a light growl. It didn't send her away, it was just a warning: don't do anything stupid. She then rested her head on her paws, her ears perked but her eyes closed, too tired to pay much more attention. She could hear if something was wrong. The pups were just by her stomach, not eating but not sleeping.
feel free to skip J <3 RE: Let me tell you about life - Tapat - October 10, 2016 Tapat was safely sandwiched between his mother and his brother. He was still often kicked by the bigger male next to him, though the pup also realized that he could get some warmth from his brother. The small pale one blended perfectly between the light fur of his mother's belly. He was snuggled up tightly and had his eyes closed. Not because he was sleeping but because he hadn't opened them yet. The small thing just bathed in the warmth the two other's gave. He was very in tune with their scents now. He realized he could use that to guide himself. He didn't realize that there was someone at the den entrance. Sounds were vaguely coming to him, but they sounded very far away. It was not like he could hear well at all. However he did feel the rumble from the milk-bar and was not sure if that was good or bad. He was sort of curious about it and lifted his tiny head a bit. RE: Let me tell you about life - Laurel - October 12, 2016 Jhala was there, she noted when she poked her head into the den. She squinted her eyes and looked inside, ignoring the growl, until her eyes adjusted to the darkness. They fell onto the pups, tiny and squirming by Jhala's stomach, trying to find their way around with no eyes to see. It was hard to imagine ever being that tiny. "Play with me," she demanded from the little potatoes by @Jhala 's side, but they didn't seem very responsive. She crawled on her stomach as to not upset Jhala too much, feeling she was on thin ice, staring at the little bundles before she piped up and screamed as loud as she could: "COOOOME PLAAAY!" RE: Let me tell you about life - Jhala - October 13, 2016 Jhala didn't comment at first, feeling Laurel would eventually give up, but the screech was startling. "God dammit, Laurel," she snarled lowly in response, wrapping her tail protectively around the kids. "You're gonna make 'em deaf before they can even properly hear," she said with irritation.
"They can't play, they can't even walk-- or see. They're babies," she said with a sharp voice, though she was trying to explain it somewhat nicely.
RE: Let me tell you about life - Tapat - October 13, 2016 Seeing that his hearing was slowly becoming a thing, he did catch some of the screech coming from Laurel. Tapat however didn't know that. He was so buried against his mother's fur he was mostly smelling that and her wonderful milk. The sudden sound, but mostly the vibrations was what startled him. He started to cry out too and pressed himself more against his mother. He almost wanted to crawl under her. The pale babe slowly calmed himself down, mostly because he forgot why he was crying out. He was warm and cozy and not very hungry so he quieted down again. He was snugly buried between the warm furs of his mother, pretty much content again. When he did relax he also released some of his pee right where he was laying, creating a surprisingly big wet patch of soil under him. In return that would make his pale coat dirty again. RE: Let me tell you about life - Laurel - October 14, 2016 There was little response other than the little potato crawling away from her further, then starting to cry out. Laurel wasn't sure if it was saying yes or no, or if it was a coincidence that it was making any sound at all. She looked at Jhala as she swore, and instantly squealed: "OOOH! You said a bad word! You can't say that about Raas!" Laurel had been old enough to know a world without Raas, but she had come to live here fairly young and, when it came in handy to her, she didn't mind (ab)using Raas' presence. She went on to say, "I'm gonna tell Reek!" And in response to the comment about the babies she huffed and said: "Well, babies're boring. They'd better play with me if they're gonna be allowed to stay." She frowned as she looked at the little babies, pouting for their lack of playfulness at such a young age. Hopefully it would improve as they got older, Laurel sourly thought to herself. Her nose wrinkled when the scent of pee flooded her nostrils and with terror in her voice and eyes Laurel screamed, "EEEEEWWWWW!" RE: Let me tell you about life - Astik - October 21, 2016 Baby Astik new few differences between anything. He could hear faint sounds, and recognized his mothers deep, raspy, but somehow soothing voice, and his fathers tone-- and how it was always so gentle when it spoke to them. He did not recognize this screech, and though he did not react as his brother did, he did not know the difference between the warmths he felt-- only that this was maybe something wet, like his mothers tongue.
He did not respond to the screech with anything other than an uncomfortable wiggle and jolt awake, letting out a soft whine. RE: Let me tell you about life - Jhala - October 21, 2016 "Grand Vicars can use bad words, I am special to Raas," Jhala snorted, somewhat a lie, but she doubted Laurel had been taught anything that suggested otherwise. Reek was practically treated as a God himself with the Cardinal status-- and she was second in command. If she was going to play by the rules of this stupid ass relgion, might as well exploit it-- not unlike Laurel. She eyeballed the child with a stern glare. "They'll play when they get older," she added, watching Tapat as he nuzzled closer to her. She focused on Laurel for a moment before she was interrupted with a warm, wet feeling on her underside.
Her eyes closed again, and she sucked in a deep breath, Laurel's scream not really helping the situation. "God. Dammit," she grumbled.
RE: Let me tell you about life - Tapat - October 22, 2016 Tapat was clueless that he caused the second scream from the other. Though this time it didn't seem as scary as before. Now he was snuggled against his mother and was comforted enough by that to only have a little hiccup the girl screamed. He did press himself more against her fur. Not sure if he liked this new thing where he was hearing and catching all these noises. Before it was quiet and he rather liked that. The pale thing let out soft whines for his mother. He was glad that she was around to comfort him in these weird times. RE: Let me tell you about life - Laurel - October 24, 2016 Laurel didn't believe a word Jhala said; of course she was lying, she was always lying. She pulled a face as her stepmother said that she could say these words because of her rank and she suggested, "Well, then I can use whatever words I'd like, too!" Because she was even better than grand vicar, she was Reek's daughter and he was special to Raas, and therefore so was she. She wrinkled her nose at the smell of the pee and made a 'yuck' face then. "Buhh, you're gross!" The tone of Laurel's voice was almost accusatory as she stared at Jhala with a deep frown. "Good luck with the ugly, smelly little rats, I'm gonna play with Reek!" Laurel turned away from the den then and started to walk away, eager to get away from the assault to her sense of smell as well as away from her stupid stepmother-from-hell and the little rats that were trying to take her place in her father's heart. RE: Let me tell you about life - Jhala - November 12, 2016 "Whatever," was all Jhala muttered in response, the little demon shooing herself from the den without any further hesitation. She clearly didn't understand anything in the world, but maybe that was understood. Her family was broken-- she didn't know any better. But just once, she wished she could smack the shit outta' that big mouth.
Whatever.
She sighed and looked to Tapat, her nose scrunching up slightly. She ran her tongue over the piss-soaked child, pretending the taste didn't bother her at all, tears welling in her eyes from frustration and the bitter taste.
