This is my war (2/5) - Sylvas Streiter - October 09, 2016 @Shalon :3 I just winged it for the Merenary trade skill for us xD
Streiter lingered near the borders of the pack lands, sat quietly as amber eyes peered out over the distant lands and he dwell in thought. The brute finding the concept of looking at things from the opposite side of the fence, somewhat amusing. He had to admit that it felt nice to have a sudden sense of purpose for once, pups on the way and a new home to share with a new even bigger family. Though Streiter knew he still had to prove himself, to gain a proper place for him and his growing family here in the pack. The only thing now was for him to find his use, to gain his proper place amongst his new found family members. But how and what? A sigh escaped his brown muzzle as he stood himself onto all fours, amber eyes looking around at his surrounds, tail swaying behind him slowly. He was unsure of how he would do this, a sense of frustration growing within the male as he gradually began to feel the pressure build up deep inside him. Letting out a frustrated growl, Streiter suddenly thrashed his paw at a nearby tree. Frustration slowly turning to anger; an emotion that was rarely felt by the male as his claws scratched angrily at the crumbling bark. RE: This is my war - Shalon - October 13, 2016 Shalon quietly watched the new male, Streiter. She had been lazily following the border on her regular patrol when she stumbled apon the man. He seemed to be thinking and she almost passed him by when he suddenly lashed out at a nearby tree. The wheels turning in her head, she took a step toward Streiter, coming out of the shadows she had been hidding in. "I don't think the tree meant it." Shalon spoke smoothly and small smirk in the corner of her mouth. "Although that was quite a swing." She looked over the damage to the tree, taking a step closer to see more closely. RE: This is my war - Sylvas Streiter - October 14, 2016 Head jerked as brown ears flicked backward against his head at the sound of a sudden voice, the young male ceasing in his tree bashing as he turned to look at Shalon with amber eyes. The grey and brown male became somewhat sheepish for the moment as he glanced down, ”I know.” he murmured softly, a sigh escaping him as his tail flicked behind him with agitation. He just didn't know what to do with himself and it was infuriating the wolf. A spark reacted within Streiter as he caught Shalon's next words, a curious look befalling his features as he peered back to her from staring at the ground. Clearing his throat, allowing his gentle voice to sound once more, ”Do you really think so?” Ears still remained laid against his head as he began to paw at the broken bark at his paws, ”I'm not really one that usually gets angry.” He gave a small smile before glancing back to the ground again, ”I didn't know what else to do.” Amber eyes peering up some as he watched his superior examine the battered tree. RE: This is my war - Shalon - October 23, 2016 "Its a good thing you don't angry. Anger can cause you to lose focus, and should only be used as a tool if you are in control of it." Shalon finally turned to Streiter, she wasn't sure, but perhaps he was frustrated at his lack of skill? Not that he had no skill, just that it hadn't been sharpened. "What do you mean? You don't know what to do?" She smiled a little, "You could go for a calming walk, or a snooze in the sun, but you are here hitting trees...." She jestured to the bark at his paw. "What has frustrated you Streiter?" RE: This is my war - Sylvas Streiter - October 23, 2016 ”I suppose so.” He allowed a small sigh to escape his lips as he gave another look to the battered tree, tail giving an annoyed flick behind him as he then peered back to the Duchess. Shalon was indeed right, he hadn't found himself wanting to loose all sense of control, not yet. It would happen some day, he just didn't know when. Though, maybe now he was apart of a family, he wouldn't be buckled under this ever growing pressure he felt. ”I guess, I'm just finding it slightly difficult to prove myself.” He cleared his throat and continued, ”I mean, I've escorted a young pup back to her pack, had the occasional, though some times necessary fight in my lone wolf days.” He chuckled slightly, ”But how do you become a proper guardian?” He glanced back to his superior, offering her a small smile. Streiter couldn't help but let out an amused laugh as Shalon went on about other things he could've done to ease his anger, an amused glint within his gaze as he gave her a nod of his head, ears twitching as she asked what was frustrating him. To be honest, he didn't even know where to begin, Strei exhaled and replied, ”The weight of responsibilities, you could say.” He peered to his paws and continued, ”The news of becoming a father was pretty sudden. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited and will stand by Eden. All the way.. “ He paused and looked up, letting out another sigh as he finished, ”I'm worried I'll just fail everyone.” RE: This is my war (2/5) - Shalon - October 30, 2016 btw Shalon=Duchess; Eden=Baronetess
Shalon thought about his words carefully, she was new to this whole advice thing! "Fatherhood is a big step, especially for one so young. But I think the most important thing to remember is that your pups are being born into a family that is more than just you and Eden. Your pups will have a whole pack to look after them, and you have a whole pack to rely on to help you. Sure it's a daunting task, but you don't have to go through it alone." Shalon wasn't sure if that was helpful, but that's all she could think of. "If you are committed to being a mercenary and then a guardian I can spar with you. And you can join me for the border patrols. Exscorting a pup is a good place to start, but there are other skills to learn." RE: This is my war (2/5) - Sylvas Streiter - October 30, 2016 My bad! Changed it in my previous post :)
Brown ears remained flat against his head, golden eyes staring at the ground for the moment, even when Shalon's voice over the gentle whistle of the cool breeze. The young male listened to her words carefully, bringing his gaze to look at her once she went on to explain that it wasn't just his and Eden's family, it was a complete family as a whole. Streiter had to remember that he was no longer alone, something which would take a bit of getting used to. Everything that had happeneed recently had transpired so quickly, a mate, pups...a pack. And like his Duchess had just confirmed, yes, it all was a little daunting. Letting out a sigh, Strei offered Shalon a quiet nod of his head, an appreciating smile slowly making its way across his muzzle, ”Thank you.” He licked his lips and added with a slight laugh, ”Some times a pep talk is what's needed.” Tail giving a slight wag behind him as he brought his amber stare to look around them for a second, bright stare returning to his superior as she went on about his chosen trade and that she could help him in his progression. The male perked up a little, brown tail giving a elated wag as then he spoke softly,”I am.” He said, posture straightening as he then added, ”I would really appreciate the help.” His eyes filled with determination as looked to Shalon, lips parting as his voice fell from his muzzle, head bowing to her respectfully, ”Thank you.” RE: This is my war (2/5) - Shalon - October 30, 2016 Shalon smiled softly, with a nod, "I was a lone for a long time before join the Court. I know it can be difficult to adapt, hard to remember you are no longer alone. But, I'll be sure to remind you every so often." She walked past the man, "If you are sure, let's get to it." She headed toward the border, intent on showing him the borders in detail. "Don't thank me yet Streiter." She looked over her shoulder an evil glint in her eye, "It will be hard work, that I can guarantee." She continued toward the border, eveyone had to know the borders, but Shalon felt that if Streiter wanted to become a Guardian he had to know it as if he had set the bound himself, as if he had laid the first scent marker. RE: This is my war (2/5) - Sylvas Streiter - October 30, 2016 It was nice, in an odd way to be apart of something bigger. Shalon's words only seeming to deepen the feeling as she continued. A gentle smile made its away across his brown maw as she mentioned she would remind him of the fact he wasn't alone every so often. The brute couldn't help but let out a light chuckle, the idea actually being a very thoughtful notion. Streiter knew he was no longer a loner and that he would have to shake the thought from his mind. He had Eden, who carried his future pups as well as his fellow pack mates around him now. Until then it would just take some time for him to find his place amongst his fellow wolves. Large paws instantly followed, carrying the male after his Duchess as she made her way off toward the border, the muscular brute trailing a respectful distance from her as he made pursuit. A smirk appeared as she looked over her shoulder, the male noticing a peculiar glint now shimmering within her eyes, ”I never expected it to be easy.” He laughed playfully as he continued to follow, eyes taking in their surroundings, nose scenting the air as they ventured onward toward part of the borders. RE: This is my war (2/5) - Shalon - November 01, 2016 Shalon would stop occasionally scent marking a tree or a bush when she believed the scent to faint. "Have you been on border patrol before?" With the pups close to due it was vital that as many wolved were scent marking as possible. With so many different scents it would prove their strength to passers-by, detering them from investigating further. It would also help to meld their scents together, so that they became one scent, one pack, one mind. She knew that Alder would be all over the partolling business, however that was only three sometimes four of them scent marking. With the other three pack members being pregnant, it would become increasingly difficult for them to venture away from their respective whelping dens. She had no doubt that Streiter would continue to do border patrols from now on, if he hadn't already been doing so. Had anyone shown him the extent of their borders? Shalon had no idea, but she figured he would speak up if he was confused. RE: This is my war (2/5) - Sylvas Streiter - November 04, 2016 Streiter ventured behind Shalon, amber eyes watching the terrain as his Duchess occasionally remarked the areas of the borders that were faint of scent. The mercenary in training's nose twitching some as the wind brought the much stronger aroma of the borders to him. His ears instantly perking forward at the sound of his superior's voice, Streiter's head tilting some as he replied smoothly, ”Kinda.” He offered a small smile of sorts, ”If you count marking a temporary home of your own?” Tail giving a curious flick behind him as he lowered his head a little, ”But i'm guessing that's not what you had in mind.” He couldn't help but let out a small nervous chuckle as he peered to the Duchess, ”I guess, if shown how far our boundaries reach; I'm sure i'll be able to work it out from there.” He offered Shalon another smile, amber eyes shimmering as gazed to her silently. RE: This is my war (2/5) - Shalon - December 07, 2016 Shalon nodded, "Don't sell yourself short." She stopped rubbing her body against a tree to leave her scent behind. "Border Patrol is exactly the same as marking your territory, except you are marking the packs home territory. While adding your scent on top of others who have done border patrol, you are adding your scent to that of the pack. Reaffirming your bond to everyone who calls this land their home." She gestured to the tree she had just scented, hopefully indicating that he should now add to her scent. "With everyone helping with border patrol we keep our territory borders strong and we show any outsides just how strong of a pack we really are. Usually that alone is enough for any intruders to give us a wide berth. It also means that more people are looking for possible attacks on our home. Even if you cannot fight off an attacker one could howl notifying everyone within that there might be something wrong." Shalon paused for a moment, "Everyone in the pack has there unique skills." Giving a small shrug she offered," For example I am muscle and counseling, whether is command decisions or personal matters. Dame Heartha is a skilled den mother, and well Queen Aspen and King Alder are also skilled warriors and counselors. Everyone must find their place, where they can be most useful." If Sylvas added his scent to her own she would continue on their tour. "Which is why I am proud that you are seeking your place so early into joining us. I can see you going very far in this pack." She was growing to like this male, and could see him being very useful to both herself and the royal pair. She would remember to call on him again. RE: This is my war (2/5) - Sylvas Streiter - December 10, 2016 Ears twitched at Shalon's words, a slightly puzzled expression befalling Streiter's face. Though in some sense the male knew what the Duchess meant. He had to have a bit more faith in himself. Ears fell to lay against his head as he gradually peered to the ground as his superior ceased in rubbing herself against the tree, his slowly head rising as she then continued to speak; ears arching forward as he listened carefully. Amber eyes peering toward the tree she had recently marked, the young male gradually looking back to Shalon as she gestured for him to do the same. Slowly his large paws carried him forward, Streiter gradually bringing himself to brush his side against the rough bark of the towering tree, allowing his scent to mingle with the of packs. A smile formed across his maw as he moved away, amber eyes peering toward Shalon as he then offered her a small bow of his head, ears remaining arched as he caught the sound of her voice, his posture straightening as he carefully listened to her words as she gave him a briefing on patrolling the borders and what one should do in certain situations, but most of all keeping the pack safe and strong. The male had to admit the thought of it was daunting at times, to a degree, but Streiter was determined and focused that this was what he wanted to do for the pack, ”I really appreciate the help and the knowledge you're sharing isn't going unheard.” He smiled warmly. Licking his muzzle quickly, Streiter gave his head a quiet nod as the Duchess went on to the subject of each wolf within the pack having their own unique skills, the brown male intently listening as Shalon then went on the explain the trades of each member. Some of them, when told, he found intriguing, though Sylvas had always been a curious soul. Though his tail gave a small wag as he caught sound of Shalon's remark, head giving an appreciated bow as he slowly offered her another smile, ”Thank you.” He peered away briefly, looking out across the land with a small smile before turning back to his superior, ”With you as my teacher I reckon I'll get the hang of it in no time.” He jested with a grin, allowing a light hearty chuckle to escape him RE: This is my war (2/5) - Shalon - December 21, 2016 Shalon was very pleased with this Sylvas Streiter, he was respectful and eager to learn. The perfect recruit. She smiled softly, she would make sure to check up on him every once and awhile. He was a good man, and he would go very far in this pack. She could see a promotion for him in the near future. She laughed slightly at his last remark, "Ah Ah Ah." Shalon jested in return, "I had to learn this all the hard way, you do too. I'm just giving you a little nudge in the right direction." She again smiled at him. They had reached a point in their travels that was near her rock. Looking toward the sky she could see the sun falling quickly. "Well I think that's enough for one day." She spoke smoothly, without looking away from the sky. "I'll see you around Streiter, keep up the good work." Shalon spoke over her shoulder as she headed toward her rock, anchoring to get there before the sun had fully set. last for me
RE: This is my war (2/5) - Sylvas Streiter - December 24, 2016 Sylvas couldn't help but give a smile as he heard Shalon's laugh, the brown male giving his head a low bow as she then explained how she had to learn all these things the hard way. Amber eyes gazed at his superior, tail giving a casual sway behind him, Streiter's muzzle parting as his smooth voice sounded, ”I don't doubt that and I'm prepared for the hard work.” He allowed another chuckle to escape his black lips, amber eyes peering down to his paws as he looked across the terrain, his stare trailing along the edges of the trees and then gradually back to his superior, ”I really appreciate the guidance. Brown ears twitched a top his head as he offered a friendly smile, eyes watching as Shalon glanced toward the sky, the male silently observing the heavens darkening shades. Head jerked slightly and Streiter brought his eyes back to look to the Duchess, ears arched forward as he listened to her words. Straightening his posture, Sylvas gave a bow and turned himself to venture off in the opposite direction, pausing for the moment, before jogging off, the male spoke quickly, ”Thank you, again.” He smiled before turning away from her and swiftly jogging back toward his makeshift den. |
