Fishing - Macawi - April 24, 2014 OOC:Big Water refers to Sea Lion Shores. Also, this post is a continuation of my old post, titled "Big Water". If people respond to it, I'll try and make changes to this one to reflect the responses in the old one. IC: Macawi had had enough fun at Big Water for now. She was now soaking wet, and sand stuck to her fur, clumping it together and making it stick up in random places. She felt extremely uncomfortable, and to top it all off, her stomach had begun to complain at her. Eyeing one of the giant blubbery creatures, she decided against trying to kill one to eat. It was a lot bigger than she was, and it had all of its friends there as back-up. She looked around, seeing if perhaps there were other things to eat near the shore. But there was nothing. A few loud, obnoxious white-and-grey birds flew around her in the sky, squawking and causing a cacophony that hurt her ears. Laying them flat on her head to try and blot out the noise, she began making her way down the shoreline, towards a far-off river that she had spotted. As she walked, she enjoyed the breeze and the smell of salt-water. The spray from Big Water left droplets on the fur of her face. She shook them off. Soon she had reached the river, which branched off into four smaller inlets. She padded over to one of them and peered down into the water. She bent her head, took a drink, and then watched intently for any fish or river creatures to catch. Soon enough, she saw a little fish swimming upstream, seemingly oblivious to Macawi. With a grin, she snapped up the fish in her jaws and swallowed it whole. Though she was no good at hunting larger prey, smaller animals were her specialty, and she had just enough speed to catch any small creature she wanted. And there she sat, watching for more fish, hoping for a good meal. RE: Fishing - Aryn - May 05, 2014 Even though it was broad daylight, and Aryn was dead tired, she was working on her next shift towards being closer towards the animals she was curious about-and that was changing her sleeping pattern. At first she thought it was easy, sleeping at night and waking up to morning, but she soon realized obstacles: her eyes were built for nighttime, her body wanted to fly by night but sleep by day, and she was unsure if her hunting skills would remain up to par. She later decided to cut back. She wouldn't change her pattern completely, but she would pull some all-dayers. That was when she'd stare down in amusement at the bewildered faces. Today was one of those days. She wanted to try a new trick: fishing. She heard of brethren bird of prey do it, and she knew about water infraction, so how hard could it be? She saw a flicker of silver scales and tracked it. She went into deep dive, pulling up at the last second and scooping a silvery fish out of the water and into her talons. Pleased with her success, she settled down near a coyote a few yards away. She swallowed her fish whole and yawned sleepily. She showed a faint interest in the coyote, but not much. Still, they were in the wolfish family... |
