Sand is what we're really made of - Sorrel Marie - December 21, 2016 Backdated a few days
Edit: open to anyone who might be allowed near! @Sylvas Streiter Days of nurtured rest had seen Sorrel grow at a fast rate. Whilst her legs remained spindly and delicate, her stature had doubled in size and as had her paws which now seemed more like something she'd use for walking than a quadruple of stubby jellybeans. The fur along her spine was thicker and less patchy than it had been the first few days of her living, breathing life; thick and fluffy and, though her eyes and ears were still sealed shut, signs of life were beginning to thrive within them. Presently, @Eden lay at the back of the den with, presumably, her nest-brother nestled beside her. Sorrel had fed earlier (and any more milk would probably make her swell up like a balloon) and so crawled away from the group in search of something new and interesting. A hard something blocked her path. It wasn't too big, the babe could just about latch her jaws around it as if to say; mine now. A quiet, and quite pleased, gurgle could be heard as she shifted her body on top of the something, a stone in the eyes of others, legs and mouth moving in unison as she sought to envelope it in puppy slobber. It was hers. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - RIP Eden - December 26, 2016 The young mother watched intently, with an awe not unlike her daughter's, as Sorrel clobbered over a stone. As far as Eden was concerned, experience was the best way to learn, so she let the little russet girl play by herself before reaching over to grab onto her scruff. Pulling her back into her embrace, Eden placed the girl between her outstretched forelegs and began grooming her of debris. Sorrel, she cooed, what a lovely name for a miracle.A smile curled across her maw as she pulled back to look at the child resting between her paws. There are Beings watching over you, she began, for Eden knew that it was best to instill the faith in the young ones as soon as she could, and they have created you just for me. My lovely princess, the heir of my dreams.Kieran would have a similar initiation soon enough, but for now, Eden was focused on Sorrel -- the heiress of the family name. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - Sylvas Streiter - December 26, 2016 The tunnels echoed softly with the sound of Sylvas' quick paw falls, the large male eagerly making his way through the twist and turns of the underground tunnels. That is, until he finally came closer to the opening of Eden's den, the brute finding himself pausing just before the entrance, unsure on whether or not to disturb Eden and the pups. Nerves slowly began to take over as the feeling of guilt washed over him, Sylvas knew he hadn't been able to spend much time with his mate, or his two children, but the borders needed protecting and a the pack needed to bed fed. Gradually the brown male allowed a soft sigh to escape his nose, amber eyes slowly peering down to the hare he held within his jaws for Eden, its thick fur tickling at his nose as he stood quietly, brown torn ears arching forward as he caught the sound of Eden's voice from inside. A smile was blocked by the gift he held within his mouth as he heard his daughter's name, the mercenary's tail swayed proudly behind him as he remained concealed to one side of the entrance, brown ears continuously pivoting a top his head as he listened in on Eden's words, ones spoken to their daughter. His amber eyes stared to the stone ground as he remained silent for the moment until he felt it was the right time to enter and it was only when his mate's voice fell silent, did the mercenary revealed himself. Large paws cautiously guided the brown male into her den, his head was kept low, along with his tail as his golden eyes peered to his children and then finally to his mate, Eden. Slowly he made his way toward Eden, the mercenary keeping his tail and head low as he approached. When he was close enough, Sylvas allowed his grip to loosen around his gift, till the fresh carcass of the hare fell from his mouth to the stone floor, carefully placed to one side of his ivory hued wife. Offering a gentle smile, the brown and gray male backed away, giving his mate some space as he casually backed himself to sit upon his haunches, bushy tail curling about his paws as he quietly observed his family. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - Sorrel Marie - January 01, 2017 And there it was, the feeling of flying; Sorrel wagged her tail at the sensation as mom corralled her wriggling body back between her paws. Lately, the little babe was growing more and more restless, especially today when something felt out of the ordinary. With her hind-quarters lashing furiously, the pale pup let Eden clear her fur of all cave matter she'd managed to acquire during her romp and, as her tongue swept over her eyes, shapes began to appear amidst a myriad of blinding lights and shadows. For some, the experience might've been one of fear and not, but for Sorrel it only fuelled her excitement. Reaching up to place a series of nibbling kisses along mother's jawline, she noticed a few new blurry shapes had entered the den. "Sowwwel," she cooed back, repeating what muffled sounds she was now able to hear. "Sowel sowel." Tumbling out of Eden's grasp, the youngster stumbled over to the brown blurs, nose working full time as their scents mingled. Both felt enticingly unfamiliar and both were better worth investigating than her misplaced stone. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - Kieran Adrien - January 01, 2017 Kieran had been sleeping and he mumbled lazily, "Sowwel laaawd!" It was more of a groan than a yelp, but his ears were sensitive to noise and sleeping was difficult when everyone was chatting. He shuffled on his belly and looked up to see his parents. "Maaaaammmaaa," he yapped, nuzzling close to her side. He enjoyed sleeping and, although he loved to explore too, he was comfortable where he was. Most likely his mother would get up for a stretch or possibly eat. Kieran smelt the familiar scent of his father and gave him another glance. "Daaaadddaaa?" RE: Sand is what we're really made of - RIP Eden - January 01, 2017 Eden looked excitedly as her children began to speak; a phenomena completely surreal to the young dam. As she had done to her daughter, Eden lifted Kieran and sat him between her paws where she guided his lids open in the dimly lit den. Then, she turned to look at Sylvas and gave him an excited, tear filled look of gratitude. Sylvas, she cooed. Eden stood and walked over to get the small carcass which her mate had brought as a gift, and carefully tore into it. Kieran, Sorrel, she called to her pups. She was going to give them a taste, let them decide if they enjoyed the tender meat. As she awaited their tumbling journey across the den, Eden began chewing on the meat to get it soft enough for their new bellies. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - Sylvas Streiter - January 01, 2017 Brown, torn ears twitched a top his head at the sound of his daughter's voice, a wide smile growing across the Knight's muzzle as she repeated her name in an adorable manner and accidentally disturbed her brother. The brown and gray male peered down to Kieran, ears arching forward as he then called to him, 'Dada' the mercenary became filled with pride at the sound of of this, ”I'm here my son.”. He said. Golden eyes beamed down to his family, tail swaying behind him, till the large male couldn't help but allow a light chuckle to escape him. The Knight silently watched as Sorrel managed to escape Eden's grasp and soon began to clamber her way towards him. Sylvas slowly gazed to Eden affectionately as she called his name, the male giving her a loving lick in return as she took his gift, gradually tearing into it's flesh to share with their ever growing pups. Standing onto all fours, Sylvas slowly made his way toward his roaming daughter, the male's cold leathery nose touching her gently in a loving gesture, ”Sorrel” He said softly, pink tongue flicking out from his mouth as he licked her head carefully, golden eyes peering over to Eden as she prepared their first taste of meat, looking back to his daughter, Sylvas gave her a soft nudge in her mother's direction. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - Sorrel Marie - January 01, 2017 Dad's gentle touch was relished by the excited youngster whom immediately decided that rising up on her unsteady (and quite spindly) hind legs to return his licks was a good idea. And so it came to no-one's surprise, other than Sorrel's, when she toppled over backwards and landed with a light thwack on her rump. "Soowwelllll?" she bleated before slowly regaining her footing and hearing the summons. Kieran's clamorous cries were enough to bring her attention back to the fuzzy white mountain that was her mother, and her father's soft nudge sent her tottering back in that direction where she promptly decided that her brother's flank would make a good couch. There was a new smell in the air however, which really caught the girl's interest, but just this once Sorrel was willing to wait for the investigation to come to her. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - Kieran Adrien - January 01, 2017 Kieran grinned sleepily at his father, repeating his previous words, ones that seemed to please the adults. "Maaaaammmmaaaa! Daaaaaaaaaddddaaaaa!" He leapt to his feet and started to prance around, though still sticking close to his mother's warm body. "Mama, dada, mama daddaaaa!" He yapped, though it was soon replaced by a yawn. The boy soon lay down again, though the curious smell was tempting. He was about to sniff it and perhaps taste it but he was crushed by something that could only be his sister. Scowling, he let out the most ferocious growl he could muster (though in reality it was no more than a grumpy yelp). "STAAAAP SOWWELLLL!" RE: Sand is what we're really made of - RIP Eden - January 01, 2017 Eden saw Sylvas's efforts to nudge Sorrel forward and her refusal, as well as the abrupt halt to Kieran's interest. Feeling annoyed by their defiance, Eden sat on her haunches and cleared her throat before giving each child a piercing glare. Sorrel Marie and Kieran Adrien, come here please. Her voice was level but the bass behind it was obvious. She then gave a similar look to her husband, as if to dare him to shelter either child. They would need to try meat eventually, and of course, there was time, but Eden had no patience left for their shenanigans. RE: Sand is what we're really made of - Sylvas Streiter - January 02, 2017 A soft laugh sounded as he watched his daughter's attempts to return his affection, his golden eyes watching as she then toppled over on her tiny legs and landed directly on her rump. Sylvas' ears arched as he listened to his daughter's words, a smile revealing itself for her as he stepped forward to give her another caring nudge. The mercenary looked on proudly as Sorrel made her way toward her brother, who was repeating Sylvas' favourite words. The father approached, helplessly watching as Sorrel used her brother for a 'seat', the male's ears then flicked backward as he caught sound of Kieran's cries. Slowly he shook his head in an amused manner, his head lifting some as he then listened to his son's 'growl', pride filled him slightly as he smiled down at the pair. Hearing Eden's tone, Sylvas looked to his mate, catching the look within her eyes as she called them to taste meat for the very first time. Clearing his throat, the mercenary looked down to Kieran and Sorrel, ”Come now, your mother wants you to try something.” His voice was soft, but stern. |
