Dance through the winter - Chip - January 11, 2017 Nerds encouraged!
Something was terribly, terribly wrong. Chip had been trying to gauge the prey levels here in an attempt to figure out if it would be worth settling in this area, but the sudden drop in temperature had mucked up that plan. Since she'd started out this morning, Chip had found a doe, a moose, and now a fox. All three were frozen stiff, though Chip could find no other indication that they were ill. She, of course, was also chilled to the bone. Even when the sun was at high noon, no amount of jogging could keep her warm. Resorting to the only thing she could think of, Chip began to dig into the snow, beginning a temporary den. She desperately needed to warm up, and this was the only way she could think of to do it. The snow was hard and icy, so digging through it was no easy feat. Thankfully, she'd scavenged plenty of the frozen-to-death prey she'd found earlier, so at least her stomach was full. RE: Dance through the winter - Kalika - January 19, 2017 It seems you have your work cut out for you.Kalika watched as Chip dug at the frozen ground and noted the frantic nature of her movements. Things were off, and that was no secret. Even Kalika who was truly experiencing her first winter could tell that something was wrong. Corpses lay dead on their backs around each corner, and though she wasn't complaining about the bounty of food they'd come across, it left a strange taste in her mouth (both literally and figuratively). She shook a bit of the snow from her ashen pelt in a manner that reflected an aura of fairy dust, then sat back on her haunches to finish watching Chip's routine. That seems...difficult. RE: Dance through the winter - Chip - January 23, 2017 Chip is judgemental. <_<
Also, I'm pretty sure Kalika is speaking Greek, but lemme know if she's not! Chip doesn't know any Greek. :P Chip glanced back when she heard a voice, followed by some words she couldn't even understand. "Are you fucking kidding me?" she asked, giving the girl a pointed look. "You wanna help, or do you want to freeze to death?" The wolf was actually sitting there acting like it was no big deal that all their food was dying off at once. They would probably all freeze to death if everybody was as stupid as this one. RE: Dance through the winter - Kalika - January 23, 2017 Kalika actually laughed at Chip's harsh diction. I won't help you if you're gonna be like that, sweetheart. She spoke with a patronizing tone and gave no expression aside from a coy smile. I also won't be freezing to death, she spoke proudly, then continued in a much less giddy tone, Maybe if you'd bothered to look, you'd have seen the abandoned den just over there.Kalika motioned her chin in the direction of her own temporary home, then turned back to Chip, waiting to see how this interaction would play out. RE: Dance through the winter - Chip - January 25, 2017 "Oh, so you wanna freeze to death," Chip replied. "If you hadn't noticed, the snow is drifting right over the den opening, so you're going to die alone in there. Have fun doing that." The striped wolf rolled her eyes, then went back to digging in the snow. She hoped to the ocean (or whatever their deity was) that this dumb white wolf would go to her den and die there. Chip sure as hell wasn't going to share her own space with some holier-than-thou princess. RE: Dance through the winter - Kalika - January 26, 2017 Kalika sucked her teeth in a "poor baby" fashion in response to the critisisms given. There wasn't much more of a response to be made, as Chip was actually making fair points. In her efforts to reach youthful independence, Kalika had managed to ignore the poor placement of her den. Still, she wouldn't let Chip know that she was right. While she'd wanted to have a good (or at least cordial) relationship with her packmates, it seemed that wouldn't quite be the case. She turned to leave and gave a final whip of her tail, pushing up whatever loose snow sat behind her. |
