All In The Head - Chaska - February 04, 2017

Chaska had been walking along until he found a lone rabbit. Just lying there. He quirked a brow at it, looking around. He found no recent scents about, and he wasn't sure what to think of it. Obviously it was dead. Perhaps someone had left it here for some time, and simply forgotten about it. He would have continued thinking, but his stomach grumble made him think otherwise. So he began to dig in. It satisfied his hunger.

Once he finished, he started to head off. Slowly however, around him the world seemed to grow somewhat brighter. He could have sworn he saw a summer flower behind him. He shook his head, trying to shake off the feeling something was wrong.

Evelyn had chosen to seclude herself more and more in the days since joining Teaghlaigh. There was a continuous thought in the back of her mind that they'd made a mistake in leaving, though her pride wouldn't allow her to admit her faults. However, once the weather had begun to warm and the storms had subsided, she tried making her way back out into the world again, beginning with Chaska. Evelyn bounced giddily in his direction, a smile wiped across her maw. Chaska, she greeted, planting a small kiss on his cheek.

Chaska's world continued to get brighter until it was as if the sun was in the middle of the sky. He saw someone coming his way, a blur. It looked like...well, he wasn't sure. But in his eyes, it was nothing like Evelyn. Just a blur. When they came over to him, and then gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, he was all confused and backed away, still shaking his head. "Back..stay ba..back" he growled, trying to clear his vision to see who, or what, this was.

Confusion washed over Evelyn seeing Chaska's aggressive reaction to her affection. Her ears fell back against her head and she took a step back, though her hackles were slightly raised. Chaska? she asked softly, a slight crack in her voice apparent, What's wrong? She took another step back and cocked her head to examine him, trying to see if something was outwardly apparent, though it seemed that whatever was wrong was hidden within.

Chaska shook his head again. There was a voice, calling out his name. It was somewhat distorted, but clear enough to hear it was his name. "H..How do you know my...Why is it so bright?" He shook his head again, still attempting to clear it. But it did nothing to help. He tried to piece things together, but his head just wasn't in it with him. The brightness of the world started to give him a headache. One thing he knew for sure, this must have been some kind of hallucination.

Evelyn's ears remained flush with her skull as she took a few more steps back. Her tail was tucked tightly between her legs and a harsh snarl was written on her maw. What was wrong with him? They hadn't seen each other in days and he was acting as though he didn't want her there. She took another step back and forced herself to speak up, Chaska, what is wrong with you? Her heart ached and her mind raced, but she tried to keep herself level for the better of them both.

"Wh..What's happ.." he groaned. The pain in his head was reaching a peak. He took a step forward, or at least tried to and instead ended up having his feet slip out from underneath. He fell over, and just lay there, mumbling under his breath about what was happening, unbeknownst to him that he may have frightened his mate.

Seeing Chaska lurch forward was the last of what Evelyn could handle. With her tail still tucked and her ears still low, the woman bounded off toward the treeline. His tumble was enough to startle her into a full sprint with nothing but her own safety on her mind.

The blur disappeared, and he tried to lift hish ead to see where it went. But he could not. It was some time before he recovered, and he got up. He felt the need to find Evelyn, not noticing the scent of her nearby. Still feeling light headed, he moved off in the opposite direction, not knowing at all what had happened.
