walk the moon - Keelut - February 05, 2017

@Nemesis
weird post is weird

There had always been something in the depths of Blackfeather Woods that called for the dreamy child's curiosity. Ever since Keelut had been introduced to the underground web and its magic he'd taken the habit of diving in the darkness alone, and under the glow of the deepest caves he spent his time in thoughts shared with Anna, in laughter and games, and sometimes, the deepest of silences and dreams...

There was light revolving around each wolf, like a faint mist of a specific tone to which Keelut often referred to as their 'colors'. For example, Father's ranged from a soothing purple with a tinge of blue to the color of the skies while mother was a bright orange red, like the fire in dusk. That was how Keelut knew that his parents were opposites, an odd couple, that they would sooner or later find a way to split apart. But that did not bother him, or perhaps he still did not comprehend the meaning of which he'd assumed.

And on and on it went, the thoughts in his head pulling him further apart from his reality until his eyes closed and he fell in deep sleep.

She loved her son. Peculiar as he was, he stuck out among the four with an ambiance that almost mimicked Abraxas's, doused in insanity. The giggling boy, she oftened heard whispering to his own fantasies of which she would be shocked to know who exactly he seemed to be speaking to. However, she had never pushed to know more. The mother and son in this situation were remarkably different, yet similar all the same. One day, something would bring out the worst in him, and when it did, his maternal side would be shown. Until then, she was perfectly content simply laying herself beside him, laying her maw in the crook of his neck. He slept soundly, and she lay awake, simply wondering if the difference between them would drive them apart like it did with Astrid. It concerned her, for unlike her daughter, she still had time to grow the bond that was currently lacking between him. Nonetheless, she loved her child with an ardour that was just as curious as it was genuine.

Nemesis had always been a distant figure in Keelut's life, but regardless of his detachment to pretty much everything and everyone, there was a special place for the dark mistress in the elven youth's heart. She'd been the one to form the boy's character from a beginning. He'd grown resilient and independent, both of those traits on Nemesis' repertoire, and they had been fairly useful growing up in his lonesome life.

He blinks awake, the glow of the cave ceiling makes it hard to remain asleep, and the bulk of Nemesis' presence get the young wraith turning his head around to confirm her identity. Mother? he whispers, checking whether the dark queen was awake. How did you find me? he asks, nudging her mother's face gently. He notices that her aura looks duller, pale in comparison to the usual ardor of her spirit, and he wonders whether something is wrong.

He shifts in her presence, and calls out to her, the unfamiliar touch of his nose meeting contact with her's sent a chill down her spine. It was, admittedly, outrageous that she should find him more a stranger than her child, but it was undeniably the truth. A truth that she knew needed to change. But instead of letting it show, she smiles a faint smile, an assuring smile that only maternal instinct could instigate. "You are my son, I always know where you are," She drags her tongue over his maw, cleaning what she could and in the little time she had with him. "And what are you doing down here?" She hums, knowing nothing of their adventures in the Web with their father, adventures that she had been absent from in her fight for glory. But she did not regret it. The wraith never regrets anything, or so the code of her life demanded it.

Lies whispers a voice to him. It was her voice, ethereal, surreal, and Keelut's ear flickers in acknowledgement. She's there with them, but still Keelut can only see Nemesis' figure over him and he doesn't really know how to take it despite how well their bodies fit in that strangely familiar embrace.

I come here to think, he admits, tying his glare to hers as he gets lost in the cold depths of his mother's eyes. The last thought he had before falling in slumber lit up again like a candle, and being with her he could barely resist the temptation to ask: are you mad at us?

It only made sense. She barely spent any time with either of her children, her voice was rarely loving like it was now and her presence was often so acidic that the spiderling's only possible reaction was to keep his distance. Perhaps the reason why Nemesis and Kove's impending break up was that she wasn't happy with them.
