Help is on the way - Skylaris - February 20, 2017 She was in pain. Her body lay in exactly the same place as it has been when her leg had been violently torn off. The blood was still in a pool around the woman's tail and hind leg, which from a distance you wouldn't realise was not attached. The blood was covering it in more ways than one. First there was the actual liquid, thick and red; then there was the scent. The salty smell was sure to bring someone over. That was the only thing keeping her eyes open. Though perhaps it would attract a hostile creature. RE: Help is on the way - Síff - February 20, 2017 She could not say for sure what drew her beyond the lands claimed by Broken Antler Fen. Her body trembles with fear, causing her entire form to quiver as she pads away from the pack's territory. She was a leaf battered by the winds of change; it felt like any moment she would be torn from the safety of her tree. Perhaps Liri left to prove that she still could; to prove that she was not so broken that she could not venture beyond Sebastian's pack. The tiny femme appears extremely unnerved, even from a distance. Her form remains half-crouched, shoulders drawn up as if to ward off a strong wind though it was pleasantly mild. Earthy optics dart to and fro, her ears along with them, searching for danger as she moves. Liri avoids any lands that smell heavily populated, hinting at hot spots for lone wolves or possible hunting grounds for packs. As she scents the air for such smells the wind shifts, bringing to her the rusty, salty tang of blood. It was not any ordinary blood but that of a wolf. Apprehensive but concerned, Liri lopes for the far off scent. It leads her to another, though from a distance she cannot tell what gender, surrounded in a horrific pool of their own blood. For a moment the Tiny Voice tugs at the corners of her mind; instilling the image of her blood spilling across the stone floor of a cave, mingling with the gritty pools of drip water. Liri shakes her head violently, forcing the image to the back of her mind to haunt her nightmares later. For now, she must focus on this unfortunate soul who needs her help. Liri approaches cautiously, form hunched and tail low, so as not to give off the impression of malicious intentions. "Hello?" Liri calls out as she approaches, unsure if the wolf is even alive. As she gets closer she can see that the stranger is a woman, a grey and white with blue eyes. Closer still, and she can see that her hind leg, specifically her left hind leg, is detached at the mid-joint. The blood pools under her body, sticky as it is no longer entirely fresh. Liri pauses, fighting off nausea with a hard swallow. Without a doubt it is the most gruesome wound she has ever seen. Already her mind is coming up with solutions to heal it. She continues on, halting just out of the woman's reach. She knows better than any how panic and pain can cause one to lash out. "Miss, can you hear me? I'm going to help you," Liri promises, meaning it with every fibre of her being. RE: Help is on the way - Skylaris - February 20, 2017 The sound ignited a spark of hope inside the woman. The words of the other were not clear to her but she let out a gurgle in response. A plead for help. Of course, it was not proper words that she let out of her muzzle - but as of right now it was the only speech she had the energy to make. She attempted to move her head, perhaps see the stranger, but a sharp sting in her head forced her back down with a grunt. Oh, please help me, darn it. RE: Help is on the way - Síff - February 20, 2017 The woman is unable to respond verbally; her voice comes in broken noises of pain that spike Liri's nerves. She responds to the pleading noises with a nod, though the woman can't see her. For a moment, Liri sniffs at the wounds in deliberation; she is careful not to touch them for fear of bringing the woman more pain. "I'm going to get herbs," Liri says reassuringly, though she can't be sure if the woman understands. "Alder bark, marigolds, cobwebs. Alder bark, marigolds, cobwebs. Alder bark, marigolds, cobwebs..." Liri chants under her breath as she leaves the woman's side. The healer doesn't venture too far for fear some predator will smell the spilt blood and harm the woman. She is fortunate to find an alder tree and quickly strips it of its bark, as much as she can carry. Marigolds are harder to find given the recent cold season, particularly harsh this year. She manages to find some early blooms clustered under brown, dead brambles. By the time Liri emerges from the tangles, with a pained grimace, she has scratches of her own. Cobwebs are relatively easy to find. Liri overturns the rocks of a natural, shadowy cairn and pulls several free. Supplies gathered into her mouth, Liri rushes back to her patient. She drops the supplies at her feet and searches for a way to clean the old blood from the wound. The woman will likely be unable to walk in her condition and any water source is too far away as it is. The blood is dirtied from the ground and if left on the wound it may turn septic. "This is gonna sting," Liri warns aloud, then again touching the wound at all will be painful. It must be done. Liri cleans the wound orally, grimacing both in empathy and at the taste. Once clean, she gathers a portion of the alder bark and begins to chew it into a mash. Once pulpy, Liri spits the mass of chewy bark and saliva directly onto the woman's stump. She follows shortly after with the marigolds; finally wrapping it in cobwebs. The worst part dealt with, Liri turns her attention to the scratches and shallow bites. The last of the chewed alder bark and marigolds are slathered onto the wounds before Liri wraps them in cobwebs. Finally done, Liri sits back on her haunches. With luck, the woman will live. However, it is unlikely she will be able to move anywhere on her own for now. Liri is reluctant to leave her out in the open alone. The woman smells of pack though she isn't sure which. The woman may need assistance getting back to her pack. At the very least, she may need someone with medical expertise to care for her until she reaches her home. Liri sighs wearily, unsure what to do. RE: Help is on the way - Skylaris - February 20, 2017 Her hearing began to improve ever so slightly. She was still barely able to make out any words, but the woman caught the occasional one or two. Skylaris' eyes flashed with gratitude and she felt a small surge of relief when the other wolfess said something about 'going herrrss' (she assumed the word had been herbs). It seemed she had guessed correct as the stranger came back with a mouthful of various materials and a herb? The dove's vision was blurry so it was difficult to make out the various shapes around her. Her thoughts were broken as a sharp pain sliced through her body. She did, however, remain as still as she could because she knew that the stranger was helping her. Hang in there, Sky. Just a little longer. Great, now she was talking to herself. The pain continued for a harsh few minutes but it calmed slightly and she noticed the other figure move back. "T-Tha.....nk....s," She croaked, wincing a little.[/font] RE: Help is on the way - Síff - February 20, 2017 Her eyes widen in surprise when the woman comes around long enough to thank her. It's a good sign that she can talk. "You're welcome," Liri responds absently. Half her mind is focused on the injured wolf before her and the other half on what comes next. The woman will be unable to walk for several days, maybe longer. Liri's tiny form is bulky with musculature but she is not so strong that she can move the woman on her own. The pain alone might send her patient into shock. "It seems we'll be staying here for awhile," Liri addresses the woman. She will not just leave her out here. Alone, the woman will likely die; be it from starvation, dehydration, or a hungry predator. "Are you thirsty?" Liri doubts that the woman could keep food down in her condition. Perhaps tomorrow or the next day. Water, however, cannot be forgone for long. RE: Help is on the way - Skylaris - February 21, 2017 Skylaris was beyond glad of the help. It was unexpected, really, for a stranger to show such kindness to another - it filled Sky with hope. Though she was still in pain, her hearing had become slightly clearer and a few more words were made out. She gave a small nod to the other woman who said something about 'arrr thirsiiii'. The pain was still there, but it was less than before the herbs had been applied to her wounds. RE: Help is on the way - Síff - February 23, 2017 The small nod prompts one of her own; not weakened from pain but rather a lack of sleep and stress. Liri leaves the woman behind once more in favor of finding the small stream she passed on her way here. She soaks a mouthful of moss in its water and returns to her patient's side. Placing the moss within reach, Liri stretches out a pace or so away. She watches the woman where she lies, close by should trouble arise. |
