galway girl - Rose - March 15, 2017 Born into the colder seasons, Rose had been exposed to little of nature's beauty. Dead leaves and bare trees were about all she could remember from her early childhood, with everything else being left in a blanket of white. Not that it was a bad thing, but after a while snow had gotten rather dull. It never changed, was always cold, and to someone with fur as bright as fire, it was also terribly annoying. Having only ever know the cold, Rose had always assumed that there were no other seasons. However when the first signs of spring decided to peek out behind winter, well they instantly captured the girl's attention. Warmth and a sense of serenity was something entirely new to the girl and she was captivating by the blossoming of spring. Robins had become particularly interesting to Rose, their songs comforting her while she made her way further south. Their feathers were no less beautiful than their voices and the girl had made it a hobby to pick them up when she was fortune enough to come across one. Even now she had several feathers secured in her jaw while she made her decent up the vaguely familiar mountain, her eyes peeled for anything else that stood out against the light brushing of snow. RE: galway girl - Lyra - March 17, 2017 It was strange that, while young and forbidden from exploring too far from the edges of Moonspear's territory, Lyra wanted nothing more than to do just that, but now that she was old enough to do so, the girl preferred to stay within her home. A part of her was somewhat afraid of the outside world, and the encounter with that dark, foreign wolf at their borders hadn't helped. Yet curiosity tugged at her limbs, urging her to the distant lands she could see from Moonspear's highest peaks. She was no budding scout like Alya, but she was entranced by the idea of adventure. The worst of the winter seemed to be over, as well, which made travel all the more tempting. Blades of grass accompanied by tiny, bright flowers were finally beginning to peak through the last smatterings of snow, and Lyra admired them as she passed them, making her way to the mountain that sat opposite their home. It was a dark, mysterious place, but the soft daylight and Lyra's general cheery demeanour helped to not make it so scary. At least, it was until she suddenly came across the scent of a stranger. The girl paused, the smile dropping from her face immediately as a familiar pang of anxiety raced up her spine. Instinctively, she turned to look at her sisters for support, only to remember she had gone about this alone. Breath quickening, she looked ahead, seeing the source of the scent roaming far ahead of her — a vibrant spot of red against the darker background. She started to wish she had been practicing her stealthiness, though there wasn't as many places to hide on the flat mountain paths as opposed to forests. The next best thing Lyra decided on then was to switch to the cool and confident Hydra...at least as good of a Hydra she could imitate, anyway. Taking a deep breath, she faked a sense of purpose and strode forward, veering her path off to avoid having to deal with the other female altogether. RE: galway girl - Rose - March 17, 2017 The vague scent of another had caused the girl's nose to involuntarily scrunch up in disgust. She found the smell of packwolves to be repulsive, mainly because they smelt like they actually belonged somewhere and Rose was envious of that. She hadn't bothered to check who was close by, but when the stranger's scent became strong enough that it was hard to ignore, Rose immediately snapped her head in the direction the odor was coming from. Another youth it appeared to be, larger than Rose herself and by the looks of it older as well. The fiery child gave a huff as the inky girl turned to go her own way and assuming that was all the interaction the two would have, Rose went back to her search. However not a moment after returning to her hobby did the blue eyed girl spark an idea. "Hey you" she called out to the stranger, her words a bit muffled from the feathers she was already carrying. "You seen feathers like this around here?" she asked rather abruptly while approaching the stranger with a cautious trot. She figured it was better to ask someone who smelled like they lived around here rather than aimlessly wander around. RE: galway girl - Lyra - May 04, 2017 Sorry for the delay!
Hey you. Thankfully, Lyra had been facing away from the stranger when she called out to her, otherwise she would have seen the look of absolute terror flash across her features. She squeezed her eyes shut, as if she would disappear when she did so, but the effort was in vain. The stranger spoke again and the question was accompanied by soft footfalls as she drew closer. With a deep breath to calm herself, Lyra slowly turned to face the other girl, mentally trying to summon her sisters. They were so alike, it wouldn't really be much of a stretch to wonder if they were also telepathically linked. However, for the moment, she focused on channelling Hydra's calm. Blue eyes met ones that were a slightly lighter shade, before she looked to the feathers held within the stranger's mouth. "Uh," was the only noise she managed, nervously taking a small step back. "I don't...I don't th-think so." |
