8 turkey songs for your thanksgiving playlist - Arlo - April 02, 2017

I meant to do this earlier in the week, but oops! This will be the main thread for the dinner and in a couple of days, I'll start the second thread, but in the meantime use this to start the respective threads with your partners based on the information here. And if you don't mind, please tag me in your new threads so I can link them here and pin them! Please reply and have your thread started by Saturday, April 8th. @Dio @Eske @Xan @Hush @Tirgatao @Kendra @Asherah @Corranochender. (@Anatha, @Elohim are welcome to cameo here and watch as well as join any of the other threads to watch)

He and @Melchior had found the turkeys early that morning. Eight of them! Both of them immediately knew the meaning of it—plus he’d heard about wintam dina on the mountain and the beast it had given them now. And here, turkeys scrambled in surprise when they’d stumbled upon them. They aren’t frightened of them long as the pair back up and make their way to the lake, keeping their calls low so not to startle the wild birds any more than they had already. Between the two of them, they managed to find the others and together the brothers lead them back to the borders.

Between their barrier and the tangle in the distance, the same eight turkeys have gathered. They’d established their teams a moment prior, breaking off toward a respective turkey.

The low call drew the young Cheka’s attention. Her ears perk atop her skull as subconsciously moves to heed the calls. She recognizes the voices as Arlo and Melchior wondering what is important enough to summon the pack as a whole — or as much of the pack that is able to respond to it. It does not take her long to come across the brothers, her gaze touching each of them in turn before she looks beyond them to the wild turkeys gathered. A pack hunt, then. Once, she had thought to pursue the hunter trade. She still teaches Kendra when she finds time to herself and Heda does not need her but not only is she Cheka, she desires a tactician specialty as well, her eye on the horizon’s prize: Wanlida and she is left with little time to pursue a secondary trade. Perhaps after she has achieved what she sets out to accomplish. With the pack gathered and their teams issued — thankfully (and luckily) she is paired with Kendra — she sets off to their target turkey.

RE: 8 turkey songs for your thanksgiving playlist - Anatha - April 08, 2017

she watches, the fiery girl, from the over of sharp stone a short distance away. her gaze falls first on the hunters, the wolves moving about close by, and then next the hunted, the turkeys. never before has she seen such creatures, but she does not think much of the birds, ungainly and awkward and rather unattractive. perhaps she will feel differently when they fill the girl's stomach, but now she is still, disillusioned- for what boring prey is this? still, she does not shift, for now, prepared to simply watch the hunters- for a time.

RE: 8 turkey songs for your thanksgiving playlist - Tirgatao - April 08, 2017

Tirgatao heeded the summons with rapt enthusiasum. A pack hunt! The first she'd be participating in since arriving to Drageda and she was absolutely thrilled. It didn't take her long to find the brothers, Eske, and Kendra, whom she greeted fondly with a smile and an energetic wave of her tail. The rest of the pack was soon to follow and the plan was set into motion. Tirgatao picked Cor out of the crowd and claimed him as her partner for the sake of ensuring he had a positive introduction to a very common pack activity; not that he hadn't participated in a hunt before, far from it, but Drageda often had a thing for doing it a bit differently than the normal packs.

She bumped his shoulder when the pairs set off, and together they darted into their respective thickets.

RE: 8 turkey songs for your thanksgiving playlist - Dio - April 09, 2017

The summons had him well on his way, and not long after arriving, the smaller details began to fall into place. It was to be a pack hunt with turkeys on the menu, alongside the warmth of springtime to inspire and enliven them. At the prospect of it all, Dio's arced tail waved a slow, thoughtful rhythm; the inevitable anticipation came to follow and in no time, he was finding himself ready to get to motion.

When it was time, he turned his sights onto Asherah before they prepared to splinter off into their groups to hunt more individually. Her whelps, too, were somewhere among his considerations as well. They could observe, probably, and should they have the interest in it. With or without, their hunts would be underway soon. The golden wocha stretched, then moved into his most strategic position..

RE: 8 turkey songs for your thanksgiving playlist - Kendra - April 09, 2017

Kendra soon responded to the howl. She was curious to what it was about. It sounded like hunting call, something that she was not very profound in. She hoped that this didn't mean that she needed to hunt. The female did approach the one who was calling. When she arrived realization set in. The dark female looked at Eske, she had some training but was not sure this was going to work for her. However she couldn't really deny what was expected from her. They fed her when she was weak.

RE: 8 turkey songs for your thanksgiving playlist - Xan - April 10, 2017

When the howls reached his ears, the yearling was slow to respond. He had considered ignoring it altogether, perhaps even heading off in the opposite direction, but had eventually turned around with the intention of locating the gathering group. Already had several gathered, most of which he didn’t know, whilst one stood out—Kendra. Before he could approach her, the girl had gone off with someone else, leaving him to settle for the silent male he’d met once along the borders. Although he’d yet to find a reason to dislike the hybrid, it was disappointing to see that he would not have the chance to hunt alongside his friend, and infuriating to see the wolf that she’d gone off with: Eske. With a surly expression, he shifted his attention elsewhere and headed off with Hush, his body tensed and eyes narrowed.

RE: 8 turkey songs for your thanksgiving playlist - Arlo - April 15, 2017

I'm going to leave this up for a few more days in hopes @Hush and @Corranochender sneak a cameo in. ^^

It is easy to separate them into groups as some naturally gravitated toward one another and others needed a little guidance. He tries to avoid that odd expression behind Xan’s grouping and as the others disappear, he’s nudged by his brother to get into gear. He snaps playfully at him before giving a nudge back and then leaves to locate their selected turkey. With more turkeys than pairs, he’s certain the lot of them will come out with plenty to feed the rest of the pack. They’d gotten more mouths—though nothing compared to home—and he and his brother are more than used to providing for quite a number.

They work easily together, like a well-oiled machine, and they eventually figure out the tactics for large, flightless bird hunting and seal the fate of their dinner. It’s a mess of flying feathers (the irony) and an angry, fat bird before his brother takes its life in one swift, impressive motion. Arlo picks his head up to search for the rest of their wolves and he sees some in the distance, the others lost in the tangle, but he and his brother work to drag back prey closer to the borders in wait.
