Raised - Farstep - May 09, 2014

In his old land, Farstep had been an ordinary wolf. His place in the hierarchy had been that of every day follower, his duties those of every other wolf whose keep had been earned in sweat and blood. But he had been a lowly follower, with low aspirations, content in his position only because that was how things were meant to be. His parents, the breeding wolves, had been in charge, and any show of boldness on his part was quashed before it had a chance to grow into discontent. Farstep had been a great follower, but all wolves who dispersed from that place were either Omegas or Alphas, and he was definitely not the former.

He took advantage of his solitude in the mountain pass to stretch his legs as something above a mere follower. For a dispersal wolf, there were many options, all of them leading to survival, the acquisition of a mate, and the founding of a pack. Farstep's instincts bid him follow these natural wolf laws, but the male wasn't in a particular hurry. Had it been the middle of breeding season, when the females wore their sexual musks about them, it would have been a different story.

Back home, Farstep had only been allowed to piss while squatting. It was the dominant animals' right to cock their legs. It was a sign of power over the others. But here, in this quiet, lonesome range, there was no one to stop him... And he found it gratifying to lift up his left leg and proudly urinate like an Alpha wolf urinated.

OOC: Hi! I see that no one has replied to your post yet, and I was wondering I could help you maybe!

IC: The pungent, acrid scent of fresh urine assaulted Majesty's nose as he climbed higher up the mountain. The wind, which blew at an amazing speed this high up, brought with it the direction in which the smell was coming from - and an even stronger whiff of it. He crinkled his nose, turning his face away from the smell, and waited for it to subside a bit. He could tell from the smell that it was wolf urine and that the wolf in question was male. This made him curious.

Who was up here besides him? Who would be, considering that the Northstar Vale pack had disbanded days ago? He followed the bend around the mountain and came across the wolf he had so pleasantly smelled moments before. The wolf before him was… unremarkable. He looked about average size, and had a reddish-brown coat. The only slightly interesting thing about him was his eyes, which were teal. Majesty stepped closer, calling out a greeting.

"Hello, friend," he said. "Nice day, isn't it?"

The male was within his right mind to turn around in that moment of power and take Fox and her pack as his right then and there, but he was compelled to stop by the appearance of another male. There Farstep stood, bristling with tail held up as though he owned the world, his ego considerably boosted by his daring scent marking despite having no desire to lay claim to this inhospitable piece of rock, and here was his challenger.

He wasn't terribly inclined to fight other wolves if they took offence to his brash actions, and would have preferred the safety, comfort, and status quo of the pack, but a lone wolf had only one concern, and that was himself. He could not predict Majesty's temperament from looks alone, and words were nothing but nonsense noises to him, so he would do it physically, as he did all things physically. His body was rigid, yet he approached, one step at a time, with eyes never leaving the other male.

Farstep was good at testing his boundaries and pushing them as far as he possibly could, and it wouldn't have been odd behaviour for him to draw right up to the other, nose to quivering nose, just to test his tolerance. He didn't recall Majesty at all from the day at the lake, which was probably a good thing.

RE: Raised - Majesty - May 22, 2014

Majesty watched as the lone wolf drew nearer to him. He took note of the fact that the male had not made any sort of verbal reply to his words, and this confused him. Was he being challenged by the other wolf? It was hard to tell. He could not sense any sort of hostility, per se, but this lone wolf also did not seem the friendliest in the world.

Majesty drew himself up to his full height as the loner came ever closer. Now his instincts were taking over, and it became clearer that although this male was not necessarily hostile, he was still challenging him. He did not draw away even when the tan he-wolf was nearly nose-to-nose with him. But he did wag his tail in greeting, as a way to let the other know that he was trying to be friendly.

"Hello?" he tried again. "I am a friend. I mean you no harm." He maintained his full height, but made sure to keep his stance relaxed and not taut. Among wolves, body language meant a lot, and he did not want to give this wolf the wrong message.
