{ IC Joining } The Call - Silvermane - May 14, 2014 {Before this post starts, Italic bold means its the thought of Silvermane and regular Italic means its the thought of his alter ego, read up on my profile to know the full story) As Silvermane slowly exited the forest, he saw among him small beds of water... sweet water? He was exhausted of his trip, hungry and thirsty. Blood was slowly trickling out of his wound, he winced in pain as the cut stinged with anguish. He was more battered than a bear. Blood sprayed on him, not all of it being his own. But the only thing he could think of was his hunger, bloodthirsty hunger. He looked around the plains to see if he cound find critters, but what he found was wolves. He shuttered at the thought of what happened the last time he met a pack of fiendish wolves. He shook away the thought has he remembered that he needed to eat. A cramp was already forming in his stomach, and he was whining from pain. I cannot fight them he thought. No, but you need food... His alter ego pointed out. You again? You have been ripping me apart. What good are you to me? This is what solitude brought us to! His ego responded, then Silvermane snapped out of it. Im still talking to myself... What have I become? he changed his priorities once more: Maybe I could ask for help! he brightened up. if you do that you might die, remember last time? Get out of my head! Anyway, its my only chance . He rounded up his guts, and howled with all his strength. (Seconds before collapsing to the ground). RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Peregrine Redhawk - May 14, 2014 Peregrine was staring ponderously into a stand of pines when an anguished howl rose up into the air, causing the fur on his nape to prickle instinctively. He climbed slowly to his feet and made his way swiftly (but not hurriedly) toward the source. When he approached the edge of the plateau and the footpath that led into the flat lands, the Alpha male paused, eyeing the slumped stranger. He smelled blood. Peregrine's eyes narrowed. Although the plateau could use a few more warm bodies, Peregrine certainly wasn't desperate enough to try recruiting a wounded and possibly dying wolf. "Can you hear me?" he asked gruffly when he reached the pale, bloodied stranger. "You need to get away from these borders," he warned. He regarded the stranger without pity; Peregrine could spare none of that for what amounted to a natural rival. RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Silvermane - May 14, 2014 (Sorry for the delay) What have I told you? This wolf will kill us if we dont leave! Now we may not even hunt! Ignoring the voice in his head, the wolf bowed down in submission. Silvermane could sense the wolf's pride and distaste towards him. Silvermane moved backwards but still talked. I am sorry of disturbing your pack Silvermane responded, in a low sort-of growl but still trying to sound respective. But please do not regard me as weak, I am much of a warrior Silvermane hoped he could persuade the alpha into taking him in, for he must follow his fathers word, but this alpha seemed to take no emotion towards his respond. Leave now! This wolf obviously does not want to hear your life story! Silvermane noticed the confusion on the alpha's face as Silvermane was shaking the voice out of his head. He stopped, I have been alone for many months, almost dead. He begged Let me prove myself RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Peregrine Redhawk - May 14, 2014 The wolf surprised him by rising, at least partially, though he remained submissively bowed. He spoke in a respectful tone, apologizing for disturbing Peregrine and begging not to be dismissed. The Alpha male's nostrils flared but he said nothing, letting the man speak his piece. Although hearing the words almost dead certainly didn't warm the swarthy leader to him, he decided he'd at least humor the stranger. "Prove yourself, then," he replied perhaps coldly. "Right now." His dark tail swished, tightening over his haunches. "Prove to me you're not just dead weight who'll use up my pack's resources without giving back. I don't have time for charity cases." RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Silvermane - May 15, 2014 Silvermanes eyes widened as the alpha spoke, but what did he mean about proving myself right now? Kill a deer or a wolf? He realized the alpha was impatient but still expectant of a reaction, Silvermane decided he had to do something quick, but not hasteful... fight him! no, that could not be... Silvermane's absence from wolves was turning agains him. The Alpha's gaze was intimitading, but a little provokive, as if to see what he would do. His glance cold. Silvermane could not brawl him, nor should he. He could not find anything that would poise a challenge towards him. So he said once again in a more lightly tone " Alpha, you know nothing around us would poise a challenge. Unless your up for spar? " Mistake! the Alpha now glares at him like he would kill him, and if the Alpha wanted to it could. Silvermane felt instant regret, but held his pride with the tips of his paws RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Peregrine Redhawk - May 15, 2014 Hey, it's not a big deal, but please try to avoid power-playing my character, e.g., "the Alpha now glares at him like he would kill him." Only I can write for my character, as only you can write for yours. :)
Peregrine expected innovation from his potential recruits, as well as the ability to think on one's feet. The stranger seemed at a loss, which did not bode well for his chances, though he redeemed himself somewhat by suggesting a spar. The Alpha male's eyes flashed, shrewdly scrutinizing his would-be nemesis. If they actually fought, he would certainly win, yet if they just scrimmaged... Peregrine could get a feel for the male's skills, even if he wasn't at the top of his game. "Come at me," was the swarthy leader's only reply as he braced himself for the stranger's first attack. RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Silvermane - May 15, 2014 Sorry im new here :) Silvermane was abit suprised by the Alpha's response, but nevertheless he readied himself, shaking off the blood of his last wound, he rammed into the Alpha's form, Silvermanes jaw set against the Wolf's neck. Bloodlust filling Silvermans new formed self, unexplained anger filling him with power. Still, Silvermane was not as powerful as he could be, and he should not kill the alpha, as that would just cause more problems. Silvermane's grip on the leader's neck loosened slightly, as through his thoughts he wearied. RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Peregrine Redhawk - May 15, 2014 No worries! If you have any questions about anything, just let me know and I'd be happy to answer them. :)
Although the male came at him with more power than Peregrine anticipated, he was at least braced to take the brunt of his attack. His pale muzzle lunged for the Alpha male's throat and he felt the brush of his fangs. Before the stranger could possibly manage a grip—for Peregrine didn't trust him any further than he could throw him—the swarthy Alpha snapped his head to the side and used the stranger's momentum to shove back against him and push him away. Immediately following this, Peregrine counterattacked. He sprang at the wounded male, caring little for his injuries. Since this was only a spar, he didn't even feint a fatal stroke. Carefully, the Alpha male aimed to grasp the other male's muzzle in his jaws and force him to sink to the ground beneath his nearly 130 pounds. RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Silvermane - May 15, 2014 please tell me if I make any mistakes As the Alpha grasped Silvermane by the muzzle, Silvermane began to struggle... But soon, realizing the Alphas tactic, he found that trying to struggle would not work. Instead, Silvermane pushed forward, hoping to push over the heavy wolf. The momentum slid past and Silvermane was able to atleast move himself to a better position. This done he could finally push with both of his front paws at the alphas looming body. Sadly, Silvermane currently did not have the power do subdue him. Once again, due to the submission of his own body, Silvermane flared with anger. His neck threw back, tilting the Alpha around, and snapping in. Maybe if the Alpha tried with another attack he could slide out this position... Your stronger, sling him across! said his ego. Silvermane could not, as the Alpha had his powerful jaws still locking the muzzle and restricting Silvermane from being able to cause harm... RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Peregrine Redhawk - May 15, 2014 Although the pale male put up a good fight, Peregrine refused to ease up or relinquish his grip. Remaining steady despite his opponent's struggles, the Alpha male eventually managed to push him down to the ground. As he did so, he raised his tail to indicate his unmistakable dominance. He felt an urge to give the male a little shake, yet didn't wish to leave marks on him, so he finally loosened his jaws and rewarded the stranger with his freedom. "It is good for you to acknowledge your place," Peregrine remarked, licking his lips, "which will be at the bottom of the heap, if I choose to accept you. Of course, you can always work your way up the ladder. You've shown some evidence of your warrior skills but what else do you bring to the table? And what's your name? I'm Peregrine." RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Silvermane - May 15, 2014 Silvermane was suprised by the Alpha's strength. He stood back up from his prior position and bowed once more. "I am Silvermane" " I am not much of a gatherer. But if I am needed to hunt, I could." he continued "Since I am a warrior I would be helpful in a fight, or used for scouting and patrolling areas..." He stopped and would try to recall his skills. Yes he was endurable from the time he spent in the mountains, now being able to brave feats better than before. But not good enough to match the Alpha, not even a bit. " I would be of much more use when im alive.". He finally said, still not trying to sound disrespectful (well his social skills where impaired) Wow, so you actually could do it? Shutup Baraaskar, you where out of my head until now he replied to his not existant ego. His body was in trememndous pain from the spar, even though it lasted a couple of seconds, he was more harmed as his wound was torn open through the small heat of the fight. He looked back up at the Alpha and awaited for his judgement. RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Peregrine Redhawk - May 16, 2014 Yes, he could put the male's strength to many uses, whether it meant hunting or guarding the borders. By this merit alone, Peregrine realized he would accept him... albeit on probationary terms. Technically, all new recruits could be punted easily if they didn't quickly prove themselves, yet the Alpha male would be keeping an especially critical eye on Silvermane as he mended. "All right. You will be on probation, so to speak, for the next month. Earn your permanent keep by seeking to acquire a trade, whether it's Warrior, Gamekeeper, Warden or whatever else. These are my terms of acceptance; do you agree to them, Silvermane?" RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Silvermane - May 16, 2014 Silvermane's bright silver eyes widened, he never thought he could actually be accepted! Even if he was under probation for the month, he could still have shelter... In deepest respect and gratitude he bowed as low as he could and spoke "I agree. Thank you, Alpha. I will not disappoint." with every inch of sincerity he could find. He felt extreme joy for the first time in a year, and nodded slowly to hide his over excitement. RE: { IC Joining } The Call - Peregrine Redhawk - May 16, 2014 Welcome to BDP! :)
Silvermane accepted his terms and, with that, Peregrine said, "Welcome to the pack then, Silvermane. I want you to do something in exchange for acceptance, besides what we've just discussed." He paused, enjoying the cliffhanger, then continued, "I want you to find a wolf called Blue Willow. She's my Beta and the pack's Healer. Tell her I sent you to take care of those wounds. You're more valuable to me a healed man than a wounded one." With a wave of his tail, Peregrine dismissed his newest subordinate and turned. He thought of heading to the den, yet instead returned to the stand of pines to do some more thinking. |
