She’d been enjoying being back with her lover so much that she’d very nearly forgotten about kind of wanting to check out the area locals. There were a lot of different scents around, but quite a few of what she had been smelling seemed to not remain in one place for very long; a day or two at most. It was leaving her to wonder if there even were local packs around. Heck, even in the twilight hours, she hadn’t heard much howling from others except for a stray howl here and there. Or maybe she had been just so wrapped up in her nightly trysts with her lover that no other sounds had reached her ears.

Wandering away from the place that her and Turq had been spending their nights together, Rivet wasn’t sure which direction to go or whatever. Since she didn’t know much at all about the area, she just picked a random direction and headed off. Her nose was in constant motion as she sought to find scents that seemed more permanent and not just passing through. Thus far, though, she was coming up without finding any. Eventually, the lake was decently behind her and she found herself surrounded by trees. The more she walked, the further into the Forest she traveled.

hope you dont mind me! :3
The silver-eyed girl’s comment about starting up a pack was absolutely ridiculous. He was not interested in being in a pack, and leading one? Even more preposterous. Clearly, the chocolate female was delusional – Styx was worried that if he spent too much time with her that some of her delusions might rub off on him. Yuck. A frown creased his lips as he maneuvered through the forest, his slender body moving with ease around the tree trunks that dotted the area. He was slowly making his way through the land he had stumbled upon after separating from his family, and it was the coffee-coloured female who had temporarily distracted him from his exploration.
While he had (for whatever reason) enjoyed the girl’s company, Styx much more at home being on his own. He would never be suited for pack life – it was absurd to even think that he could be part of one. Wolves did not take kindly to hybrids, nor would they want to be in a pack lead by one. Scoffing aloud at his thoughts, the yearling pressed forward, his long legs carrying him quickly through the shadowy forest. He had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts he had barely noticed the scent of another lingering around the trees until it was too late to avoid her. Nearly cursing aloud, the boy composed himself and studied the dark stranger as he leaned up against a tree trunk, seafoam gaze following her movements with muted interest. “Hey, pretty eyes,” he greeted suddenly, the words falling from his tongue with such ease as a crooked smile worked its way onto his dark maw. Whoever this girl was would act as the perfect distraction from the thoughts that Katrina had filled his mind with.

She’d been so wrapped up with thoughts of her own that she had no idea that there was someone else around until he spoke. The young woman visibly startled for a moment but quickly recovered, giving her tail a slight twitch before letting it fall against her hocks. She studied him for a few moments, not saying anything in return to his greeting. She truly hoped that he was not trying to flirt with her by way of his greeting because she was definitely not interested in him, or any other male. This was, of course, her own thoughts running away with her.

“Uh, hello,” she finally greeted in return. She hadn’t scented any long term, in place scents marking borders but it could be possible that she’d been so wrapped up in her thoughts that she hadn’t paid as much attention as she should have been. “I’m not trespassing, am I?” A tilt of her head and glance over her shoulder was given. She hadn’t realized she’d traveled so far into the trees. Rivet hoped she’d be able to find her way out and back to where her and her lover had been staying.

no worries, i'm still doing the same with styx!
The hybrid was getting rather good at startling females – whether that was something to be proud of or not, he wasn’t sure. There was something different about this particular female, but Styx couldn’t quite put his paw on it. He wasn’t really concerned with figuring out either, as the boy never intended to come across strangers a second time. They were always to remain strangers as it made things much easier – he didn’t like being attached, which was precisely why the pack idea that the silver-eyed girl had suggested seemed so ludicrous. Forming a pack meant having responsibilities and actually having to be nice, which depending on his mood wasn’t always so easy.
His brows narrowed as she mentioned trespassing and glanced over her shoulder, almost as if she was expecting another to be lurking around the forest. He shrugged softly at her comment, seafoam gaze still focused on her slender figure as he responded in a detached tone: “Not that I’m aware of.” While he did not care for packs he still respected their borders – unless, of course, he felt like being chased away with teeth snapping at his heels. That was only when he got really bored. “You look lost – what direction did you come from?” The gallant knight was always up for escorting a pretty lady even if he preferred to be on his own – after all, it was only temporary, and then he would never see her again.

“Oh…” It was good to know that she wasn’t trespassing where she shouldn’t be. Sometimes getting wrapped up in her own thoughts wasn’t all that great of a thing, especially if it were to end up landing her in trouble or some such nonsense. Although her thoughts were interesting, to her anyway, she really was supposed to be on a mission and probably should pay attention to where she was going as well as her surroundings.

Her focus returned to the male once she accepted that she wasn’t trespassing. “Not really lost, honestly,” she began to answer. “I’m not from around here, and just trying to see what I can find out about the locals, including packs, for my companion and I.”

RE: dark shadows - Styx - August 10, 2013

Although intrigued by the female before him – as he was by all members of the opposite sex – there was different about her. Perhaps it was because he was used to most females pining over his ‘exotic’ features and this one, for whatever reason, seemed completely indifferent to his presence. Unlike some, Styx knew how to take a hint – there was no use in trying to impress someone who was not interested. A faint smile managed to work its way onto his lips as he listened to the girl explain that she wasn’t actually lost – though she certainly looked it – and that she was inquiring about possible packs nearby. The hybrid knew nothing of the local packs other than their existence. He was not interested in joining them, but the silver-eyed female’s suggestion of forming a pack of his own continued to fester in his thoughts.
“I’m afraid I won’t be of any use – I have not come across any pack wolves in my travels.” Nor did he intend to, but he did not speak those thoughts aloud. “… for my companion and I.” The comment puzzled the yearling, as he did not understand why she was without this traveling partner now. Again, he kept his thoughts to himself – the mutt was not interested in the personal details of a stranger. It was none of his business and he would like to keep it that way. However, something did escape the shadows of his mind and spill into the air between them – words that took the coyote hybrid by surprise. “I did hear rumors, however, of a potential pack forming South from here.” Lies. There were no rumors, only a moronic suggestion from a nameless wolf. But the more he mulled the idea over, the more appealing it became…

His appearance was truly of little interest to her. She had no interest in males in general, though it wasn’t something she ran around telling the world about because she did know that there were some who frowned upon same gender couplings. She knew that from experience, but luckily not from within her own family. It just wasn’t something she talked about openly unless it was brought up, or others actually saw her with her lover.

“Oh… Neither have I,” she replied, giving a faint sigh as she spoke. If he would have asked why she was not with her companion now, she would simply have answered that they were each scoping things out in different directions to see what they could find. She wouldn’t speak of the spat that they’d had, the lover’s quarrel, because it wasn’t the business of anyone else.

Her ears perked forward as he spoke of a rumor he’d heard. “Did those rumors happen to mention the name of whoever it is possibly forming a pack south from here?” she asked, giving a slight tilt of her head. She was interested…

RE: dark shadows - Styx - August 15, 2013

wanna wrap this up in a few more since we have our joining thread with Turq? :) <3
Since Styx wasn’t sure whether or not he was actually going to form this pack with the silver-eyed stranger, the hybrid didn’t want to give too much information away. The idea was appealing and if he was going to be part of a pack he’d rather be at the top. He didn’t do so well with authority as it didn’t exist in the life of a loner. Another reason why preferred the nomad lifestyle as opposed to being part of a pack – there was nobody telling him what to do. If he was the leader… well, that was a different story. The coffee-coloured girl was convincing the lanky hybrid that creating a pack was a splendid idea and she wasn’t even present.
The bi-coloured female’s question redirected his attention back to her, his brows narrowing slightly as he searched his thoughts for a response. If she knew that he was going to be the leader of the pack would be inclined to venture South, with or without this companion she had mentioned? “I have no names for you,” he started with a soft frown as he feigned disappointment, pointed ears swiveling forward as he spoke. “I do know they will be settled within the depths of Neverwinter Forest,” he added with a short nod, hoping that he had managed to peek the female’s interest with his lackluster explanation.

It was difficult to decide if she was going to bother talking to her companion about the supposed rumor of a maybe pack forming in the south. It would help if she knew more, but since the darkly colored male didn’t seem to have much information to share, she would likely end up dismissing it from her thoughts, not even bothering to speak of it to her lover. What would be the point, after all?

“Alrighty then,” she finally responded after having remained silent for a few moments, mulling over what little information he had given her, which was clearly not much at all. “I’m Rivet, by the way. Rivet DeMonte,” she introduced herself, giving a slight shrug as she did so. Although it was probably unlikely that she’d ever see this male again once they parted company, she wanted to be polite.

RE: dark shadows - Styx - August 15, 2013

sounds good! & archived ♥
If this was an attempt at requiring the bi-coloured eyed female Styx was doing a horrible job. He had barely given out any information about the pack – leaving out the important detail of him being one of the leader’s – simply because it was not definite. Although he had agreed to the chocolate female’s proposition the hybrid was not certain if he was actually going to follow through with this absurd idea. The fact that he had allowed Kat to continue speaking about the pack still baffled the tall yearling – he should have left as soon as she mentioned it. There was something captivating about the spunky silver-eyed girl; no matter how hard he tried, she would not remove herself from his mind.
Rivet DeMonte. His lips formed a thin line as he tasted the name, seafoam gazed dancing away from the dark female. The hybrid was not interested in sharing names – a trait that would now have to be adjusted if he were to become a leader of a pack. He held back a grimace at the thought, shooting Rivet a side glance as he took a step away from her. “Pleasure to meet you,” he responded, withholding his name as he spoke. If they crossed paths once more Styx would share his name, but not now. It was not necessary. “I’d best be on my way – safe travels, Rivet.” With that, he gave the female a polite nod before disappearing into the trees. It was time to head South and return to the place where he and Kat had first met.
