Wolf and the Hare(s) - Howl - July 27, 2017

Hunting Thread

Howl set out midday to Jade Fern Grove, to catch a few hares, squirrels, "something small". It was a small goal, a mission, but one that he thought could occupy his mind while so many things were racing threw it. He felt a sudden pressure on himself, a duties that was put on him by others and by himself. Being the new member of this pack meant he would have to pull his weight, which wouldn't be too hard except that he also had to pull the weight of Heartha along with him. He didn't blame her for any of it, but it meant that Grayday expected something greater form him and that is counted for Heartha as well.

Even his realationship with Heartha was pressuring for him. He had never been with a female for so long. It seemed that he was becomming more then just a lover or donor to her, but a mate. The word meant something greater then the other two things, or maybe not. Maybe it was all in his head. Which is why he had set out on this hunt, which would require quick thinking and skill to catch creatures of just agility.

He walked slowly through the trees as he crouched down and watched the ground the the trunks of the trees that grew from it. In the summer the very prey that he was looking for was hightly abundance.

RE: Wolf and the Hare(s) - Cathenna - August 12, 2017

hope you don't mind me jumping in

Cathenna had been within the Teekon not to long ago, although she had only explored the coast. Her surroundings now were vastly different from the open sandy beaches and wavy ocean. The trees called to her, the underbrush absorbed her paws. Each full breath revitalised her body, in ways the salty water never could.

She got lost in the feeling, and subconsciencely she followed the scent of the forest folk. A rabbit catching her nose, and her attention. Keeping her snout to the ground Cathenna travelled silently through the trees, her mind focusing on the task at hand. She hadn't realized she was hungry until she had caught the scent of an unknowning creature. It was also in the heat of the moment that she missed another canid, not to far off on her right side, so oblivious to his presence she walked right in front of him.

RE: Wolf and the Hare(s) - Howl - August 13, 2017

Thanks for jumping in actually.

Howl had decided that it would be better to sit still and wait rather then wonder around looking for a hare. He waited behind some brush and he heard two thinks. The scurrying of a hare along the forest floor and the small rattling of something much larger. He looked over to his right and saw a female approaching towards him. But it seemed as though she were looking off, at the hare specifically, rather then at him. The hare was feasting on a patch of flowers at the base of a tree stump.

He didn't want to startle the female and the hare in return. He tried to think of a way to signal to the female without making too much noise. Taking his paw and rubbing it against the roots of a near by tree. The noise subtle, but far more noticable for the female to his right compared to the hare eating yards infront of them. He looked over at her waiting to see if she could see him.

RE: Wolf and the Hare(s) - Cathenna - August 14, 2017

She knew it was close, she could here it as she got closer. And then.... another sound caught her ear. Breaking her concentration on the task at hand. Cathenna looked over her sholder at the male not so far off. She had overlooked him, a mistake she would not make again. However he seemed to be after the same as she, perhaps a temporary aliance was in order. Hares were quick, it would be easier if they worked together to win their prize. Cathenna looked between the male and the hare, and tilted her head to the opposite side of the hare. Offering her help to win the meal. If he went around the other side of the hare without spooking it, she could chase it in his direction.

The rabbit had still yet to notice the danger that it was in, the potentially fatal outcome that was about to befall it. Cathenna always thought their oblivion as sad, however she pushed it aside, at heart she was a hunter. And oh how she loved the hunt.

RE: Wolf and the Hare(s) - Howl - August 20, 2017

The female realized Howl's presence and glanced towards the opposite side or the hare. Tilting her head in somewhat of a suggestive manor. Howl thought he got the message. To go over to that side. It didn't appear that she wanted him out of her way for the hunt but rather that she wanted to help. He wasn't 100% sure of what he plan was, but if she had one he was willing to follow it. In this situation they couldn't really hash out a plan and so he went with the first one available, which was hers.

He nodded to her and proceeded to back away from his possition and away from the hare. He created a larger gap between him and the hare before moving around to its other side. Not wanting to startle it in the prosses of setting up the plan before it even started. Once over there he awaited behind a bush. Before getting really into it he made sure that the female knew where he was and did so by making eye contact with her.
