Slept So Long - Illecebra - September 01, 2017

@Burr and @Mawk I made a thread for us three. I'll make a private one or Mawk and cebra too <3

Illecebra had gotten up and hunted the past several days, and had brought back some Turkey and a few rabbits, and she had found some weasels that hid themselves around the rocks. Weasels were nasty little critters, they actually had some fight in them before she managed to snap their spines and then end their lives. She had gotten a few nips and scratches from them that she needed to get checked on by Krypton.

She had met Ezekiel and Krypton during her days out and about, and found she liked them both quite alot. They were both intelligent and sound of mind, goal driven and quite friendly. She knew that this was a pack where she would be happy to have Burr,Cyron, and Rowana grow up. She lay beside the three children watching them Tussle with one another, laughing brightly as Cyron attempting to sneak up upon Burr just to be kicked lightly in the jaw with a hind paw. Cyron sat back on his haunches and gave her a look of  stunned surprise that was all too cute for her to handle, so she stood up and walked over to him tucking him against her side. She licked his head fondly while she kept an eye on the other two, her thoughts drifting to Mawk.

Mawk had been rather busy lately, spending a lot of time hunting and patrolling, marking the borders, mostly due to the instinctual drive to protect his family. Strengthening the borders seemed to relax him, giving him hope that nobody was stupid enough to tresspass on strong borders. There was a downside to this though - he wasn't spending a huge amount of time with his mate and children. That was why he approached the den now, peeking inside to see the youngsters tussling with each other, though Cyron had been pressed up against his mate's side.

"Cebra." He smiled, entering the den and lying down close to them so he could watch and talk. "They seem to be very awake today." He chuckled gently, tail wagging behind him on his back.

RE: Slept So Long - Burr Saefyn - September 02, 2017

Burr had been minding his own business, contemplating a peculiar bit of root sticking through the wall of the den, when Cyron and Rowana attempted to team up on him. This wasn't an unusual scenario to the young thinker, though, so he was prepared for it this time. Rowana came at him head on and while he was busy tussling with her, grappling for a momentary advantage, Cyron attempted to sneak up on him from behind. His curled tail swung to and fro as he struggled against his sister, and when he sensed Cyron was near, he rolled onto his back and struck out with a strong hind limb.

Bingo! His foot struck home, forcing Cyron back on his haunches, but being on his back put Burr at a disadvantage against Rowana. His sister was on him in an instant and he yelped, pushing at her with his forepaws while his brother retreated to Illecebra's side. Burr hadn't noticed Mawk in the doorway, but he grunted as he shoved bodily against Rowana and eventually yelled, "gerroff!" at her.

She wasn't daunted by her brother's cries, though, and pressed him into the den floor until he went limp beneath her and curled his plumed tail up between his hind legs. He scowled at her as she let him up, but a few moments later he was grinning once more. She had beat him because he was distracted by Cyron, and that was a smart strategy. He would remember it.

When Mawk spoke and drew the boy's attention to the wolfdog, Burr's grin only widened. "Hi papa!"

RE: Slept So Long - Illecebra - September 02, 2017

Almost as if summoned by her thoughts, Mawk showed up and immediately she was on her paws walking forward to greet him. She licked his face and brushed her nose down the fur along his jaw breathing in his scent. "Mawk, i was just thinking of you" she said warmly and then stepped away. She watched Rowana best Burr in a tussle and couldn't help the light of pride that shone in her eyes. Despite the fact that she was very proud of her daughter, she was proud of Burr's defensive move against Cyron as well. "Good job both of you, You both will be exceptional fighters one day." then again it was in their blood from both parents.

Her heart swelled when Burr greeted his father and she gave Mawk a wide grin with a goofy look that said "Look what we made, aren't they great?".

He smiled as Cebra drew near, and he reached up to gently lick her cheek lovingly. "Funny, I was just thinking of you too," Mawk grinned, chuckling lightly. It wasn't a lie - he'd been wanting to come and lie with his family for a while, but he'd had to go on another patrol and mark the borders, as was part of his job. Even so, he'd found time. His tail thumped against his back, and only continued when his son, Burr, greeted him. "Hey bud," he shuffled a little closer, placing a kiss on the young boy's head. The scout beamed, glancing up at his mate with a silent reply. Yes, yes they are.

He was so proud to be their father.

RE: Slept So Long - Burr Saefyn - September 10, 2017

Burr's curled tail wriggled back and forth when Mawk not only replied, but planted a lick across the top of his head. He grinned widely up at his father with eyes bursting with affection, and his paws danced idly on the ground below as he spun around to face Illecebra. He had no less affection for his mother and he fixed her with a sunny expression to show her that he loved her, too. That a fierce (read: adorable) battle had just ensued between the three pups was hardly evident in Burr's reaction to his parents, though Illecebra reminded him of it promptly.

"Bu' maaa," protested the greyscale pup as he stilled his fidgeting feet, "I don' wanna be a figh'er!" Rowana might one day make a fierce competitor based on her winning streak, and Cyron could certainly hold his own as well when he wasn't busy goofing off, but while Burr also wasn't a pushover, his budding interests lie elsewhere. Granted, he changed his mind on nearly a daily basis. Today he wanted to grow up to be a messenger, but by tomorrow he would change his mind to caretaker, and then hunter the next day, and so on. Nevertheless, fighter almost never made the top three list.

RE: Slept So Long - Illecebra - September 11, 2017

Illecebra's eyes softened as Mawk returned the look of pride, and she scooted over to him nuzzling him with an affection growl. She pressed her side against his as they both beamed down at their son who was also beaming up at them with the cutest little smile. When he piped up about being a fighter Illecebra hesitated. She was raised from birth to fight, it was in her blood and soul. Her parents had made it clear that anyone who couldn't fight was to be booted out as soon as they could care for themselves. She also remembered all the horrible sparrings, and beatings she had to endure and all the people she had lost due to fighting and she gave a warm sigh. Lowering her maw she used her chin to pull Burr in close and getly groomed at his fur. "Then one day when you are big and strong, you will be exceptional at whatever you choose to be. I would never make you become someone you didn't want to be." she murmured warmly in between licks.

Rowana came bounding up to her and shoved her head against Cebra's squeaking about she wanted to be just as big and strong as she and papa were. Illecebra responded with a low chuckle and bumped her nose to her daughter's chest "Work hard then my little warrioress" she said firmly but with a loving tone. Cyron waddled over still chubby and adorable in every way and plopped down inbetween Mawk and Cebra's side stating that he didn't know what he wanted to be yet. Illecebra beamed with happiness her tail thumping against the den floor as she gave all her children affection and confident remarks all the while tossing Mawk looks that varied from pride, to love, to amusement. Bending close she tugged all three kids close and then pressed her muzzle to their ear "I do need your help though. On the count of three we're all gonna tackle your father and show him just how strong we are" she said in a quiet tone so that Mawk couldn't hear her.

RE: Slept So Long - Mawk - September 16, 2017

Mawk returned the nuzzle, sighing with content as he did so. The little family were able to relax more now that they'd settled into a home, and for this the Scout was eternally grateful. He adored travelling, he really did, but that was not ideal right now, and he was happy to put aside his passion so that he could make sure their pups would grow up in a stable home. Besides, Mawk was really beginning to love it here. Everything about it - from the landscape to those who resided here, he liked it all.

Burr decided to speak up after Illecebra, and he smiled gently again at the boy. He and his mate were both fighters, and although he would love to have some little warrior children, he also loved the idea that they might find their own interests and follow their own paths. Burr didn't want to be a fighter, and that was okay! "Like your mother says, you can be what you want to be. You don't have to be a fighter - there are so many different things you can learn to do, and the choice is all yours!" He remembered back when he was younger, it had seemed almost scary how wide the selection was, and in his birthplace there were no trades at all, they just didn't exist. Here in the Teekon it seemed to be something everyone took very seriously, and although he was intimidated by it at first, earning a trade turned out to be something he too was serious about! He had spent a long time trying to decide what he wanted to be, but in the end he just waited to see what he was good at, and his passions had developed from there.

Rowana decided then to add her own wishes to the conversation, and Mawk chuckled. "I'm sure you'll be even stronger than us one day, Ro." That could turn out to be true, who knew? Well, it would certainly be true when they he and Cebra were elders, sleeping their days away in a cosy den. He almost chuckled again at the thought. Cyron arrived next, stating that he didn't know what he wanted to be yet. Mawk couldn't blame him, honestly. So many options. "You'll know one day," he reassured, giving comforting looks to all three of the youngsters. They're growing so fast. He was completely unaware, as he let out a yawn and glanced at the exit of the den (the sky was growing darker), of his mate's scheme.

RE: Slept So Long - Burr Saefyn - September 21, 2017

What did little Burr want to be when he grew up? He just didn't know yet. Rowana knew without a doubt that she wanted to be a warrior but Cyron was in the same boat as he. It could be said that girls were more sure of themselves at a younger age than boys and it seemed to be true with their litter. Burr glanced between his siblings, but even looking to them for guidance, the only thing he knew for sure was that he didn't want to be a fighter. He was willing to leave the role of protector to his sister.

"What kin'a things, papa?" Burr asked suddenly, peering up at Mawk with uncertain eyes. He knew a few of the roles that pack wolves played, but they were the essential ones: hunter, protector, ambassador. Burr didn't know much about the more complicated roles, or the ones that were seldom held by particular wolves. In time, he would find he was well suited to the ones that required a good deal of knowledge and logic, but he was much too young for that yet. What Burr really needed was a crash course in what roles he could pursue, and furthermore, someone to introduce him to each of them in practice.

RE: Slept So Long - Illecebra - October 05, 2017

Rowana and Cyron nodded silently to show they understood the plan, but Burr seemed to now be distracted by the idea of trades and what he could be when he was older. She smiled softly and nudged Rowana who was trying her best to look unsuspicious and innocent though her tail was wiggling quickly behind her as she stared at Mawk with an eager light in her eyes. Cyron was even more excited than his sister at the game Cebra had suggested and he could barely hold still, causing Illecebra to giggle softly. Giving them both a second nudge she bent low "one....two...." she whispered softly into their ears, her hawk-like eyes flicking up to stare at Mawk with a wide grin on her maw. "Three!" she shouted and gently leaped forward, rolling Mawk over and covering his neck fur in kisses and nips. She laughed loudly as Rowana jumped onto his belly, biting at his fur though she was gentle enough not to cause a bunch of pain. Cyron attacked Mawk's tail tugging at it a few times before releasing it and running around to Mawk's head and chewing on his ears.

Illecebra looked over at Burr and motioned for him to join, her eyes sparkling with a youthful playfulness that hadn't been shown in quite some time.
