hot venom is mixing with my blood - Rayder - May 20, 2014 Figured I was much overdue for an unplanned All Welcome thread. Pretty much anyone is welcome to join! Maybe someone who would be interested in giving Rayder advice? :O
Birds chirped overhead, the sun rose high in the sky as a clear sign that noon was approaching. Rayder walked through the lush surroundings of the Plateau, overwhelmingly bored. The male wolf had always been more of an extrovert and though he'd taken to the loner life surprisingly well when he'd had to, that was because he knew he had no other choice. And somehow, something about the cold nights alone back then had been strangely comforting, even as it was the reason he was so villainous now. Would he still be considered a villain, though? Regret was in his veins for not taking care of that Theta when he'd had the chance. Surely it would have helped him improve, perhaps even caused a good amount of panic in the pack if he lied about it just right. But he hadn't done it. Not only had he not killed the other, but he'd walked him back to the dens, making sure he didn't fall without assistance nearby because of his wounds. Still, when he thought about it, he fought with himself. It wouldn't be right, that voice taunted him again. It wouldn't be right. Right meant bettering himself even at the expense of others, didn't it?! So why was he so conflicted about this?! Groaning out of frustration, his pace quickened, feeling an unfamiliar anger at himself boil up. Rayder would get through this, whatever it was. He always did. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Ayvo - May 20, 2014 He wasn't a loner for long. The pale male left the vale after some unplanned circumstances that left that area uninhabitable for a pack wolf. On his way to the plateau Ayvo met a macho Viking named Ragnar. After listening to his plans Ayvo agreed to join him later in time but for now he would find a resting place inside an established pack. Soon after meeting Ragnar the young wolf came across the healer, Blue, who eventually allowed him entrance into the plateau. The snowy pelt male was unfimilar with almost every wolf inside the pack. He kept to himself most of the time, practicing hunting and speed tactics on the black tail deer that were plentiful in the area. His time was well spent. Between light patrolling, hunting, and training the male kept busy. Ayvo came across a male wolf from his new pack. He gazed as the male groaned in frustration and started to jolt across the landscape. Quickening his trot to catch up with the male Ayvo eventually wandered close enough to let out a bark of greeting. As he did he stopped in his tracks and waited for the male to return his call. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Rayder - May 20, 2014 The greeting made him slow, turning his body to face, and glance at the one that had called him. Upon seeing the brightness of another's pelt, he immediately thought not another, but then he saw a saddle of dark upon the wolf's back, and he ceased in his movements to stiffen his posture a little. His tail waved behind him, neutral -- not dominant, but not submissive to the fellow pack member. He responded to the other with a small 'woof' of his own, sniffing a little at the wolf on instinct to get to know him better by scent. A beat of comfortable silence passed as Rayder got familiarized with the Iota in front of him via body language. Then, he spoke. "I'm Rayder." He introduced himself, figuring it would be best for them to exchange names before getting into a conversation. And for once, he was unsure what to talk about. Seeing that it was a wolf also part of the Plateau, he couldn't go about being rude or trying to agitate the stranger for fun. Perhaps the new found acquaintance would give him something to ramble about in his reply. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Ayvo - May 20, 2014 The wolf in front of Ayvo immediately turned and cease any sporadic movements after he let out a bark of greeting. The male let out a return chuff and began to smell Ayvo. The pale male watched the new wolf as silence fell amoung the pair for a split second. The silence was followed by the new wolf's introduction. A male wolf deemed as Rayder was his companion for the moment. Bowing his head in polite respect to the male Ayvo returned the simple gesture. "I am Ayvo. You new around here too?" Ayvo offered up simple small talk to allow the wolves to get more comfortable around each other. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Rayder - May 20, 2014 Rayder thought for a moment. He felt as though he'd established himself well so far, but it was still true that he hadn't been part of the Plateau's ranks for than a week yet. "Yeah," he answered honestly, perhaps to a more experienced member he would have denied this so he wouldn't been seen as just a simple rookie, but since the other as a new recruit too, it lessened the blow to his pride. "Nice to meet ya, Ayvo." The male said, somewhat polite, somewhat playful. He spared a glance up at the clouds of the sky. Despite there being many of them, covering the sun every once and a while, it didn't seem like it would rain anytime soon -- there was no overcast grayness to be seen so far. "This is gonna sound a little out of the blue, but...'got a question for you. Do you want to be better than other wolves?" There wasn't any accusation in his tone, just curiosity. Was it normal to feel the way Rayder did? He had been questioning himself so much lately, maybe a little insight into another's personality would help him. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Ayvo - May 20, 2014 The virile wolf spoke his modest small talk with a mixture of civil dances and an underlying friskiness to his voice. The young wolf nodded his pastel head politely as Rayder responded that he was new and that he relished in meeting Ayvo. In all honestly the pale wolf was glad he had been able to meet another pack mate. It refreshed him to see other wolves in his new pack. Before the pale pelted plateau wolf could begin another round of small talk Rayder interjected a very intriguing question ”Do you want to be better.’” the male inquired in a tone lacking accusation. Every wolf was out for their own good, even if they wouldn’t admit it. You join a pack to survive, you mate to carry on your genes, you fight to protect your home land. Ayvo chuckled before providing an answer. ”Id be lying if I said I didn’t want to be better. You don’t deserve petty lies for the sake of making myself look more noble. We are all out for ourselves, isn’t that why you are here in the first place?” Ayvo replied justly to the rusted wolf’s inquiry. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Rayder - May 20, 2014 Rayder wasn't sure whether or not he respect or held distaste for Ayvo's reply. On the one hand, it was nice to see someone being honest, but on the other hand, honesty was quite overrated, wasn't it? He'd like to think he himself was living proof of that. "Hmm. Maybe." The tan male said, vague yet the natural forcefulness of his personality making it sound straight to the point. "You don't think there are some that help others just for the sake of it?" He wouldn't blame the other if he said 'no'. Rayder himself was rather suspicious of people like that, he thought that they must be playing him to break him down later. That was his main reason for acting the way he did, if he didn't use people -- surely they would use him first. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Ayvo - May 21, 2014 Ayvo was a person of very few redeeming qualities. Sure he could be kind, but he was honest, a pessimist, and cynical. The pastel pelted male chuckled at his tan companion's response and question. "Wolves do things to better themselves. Helping others gives them the warm fuzzies, or satisfaction or an upper hand on another wolf. They help others to give themselve something." Spoke truthfully from his expirences with the world. He paused a second then continued on. "No wolf is truly selfless. Everyone does something for a reason and that reason is to better themselves." Ayvo finished up his statement with a voice of reason and a matter-of-factly tone. RE: hot venom is mixing with my blood - Rayder - May 21, 2014 Rayder nodded once the other had finished speaking, making a small sound of acknowledgement. He had to agree -- though he felt a strange urge to say that it wasn't true in the back of his mind. "You're right. But I guess lately, I still have a little part of me that wants to believe that's wrong." The male had no idea what he was doing, opening up and showing a sign of weakness (even if it was small) to another pack member he hadn't even talked to before. Well, there was some advantage to that, much more than saying things like that to someone he saw every day. There was a chance Ayvo would forget their conversation, or just not think of it because of how small it was in relation to other happenings. Reassuring himself with those thoughts, he exhaled. Rayder paused, then motioned with his head for the other wolf to walk with him, as he continued padding across the Plateau, but this time slower and with less heat in his steps. |
