and the future seems so bleak - Vaati - November 07, 2017 uh yeah, so this is probably a terrible idea, but, whynaut..... right?? open to any msp/rhc wolves just not too many, plz! (i can't have him die just yet)
He is restless, unable to sit still without anticipating what was to come. He feels it, the tides of luck changing on them, and eventually, crashing against the core of their beliefs system in a staggering moment of realization: they are not invincible. Not anymore. Not when half their ranks have moved on, not when their gods have abandoned them and they existed only by what they reproduced. They do not even have that anymore. He wonders if they could not just escape it all, those who were destined to descend upon them if not now, months from then when they are unsuspecting. Charon's visit had only heightened his concern for those who knew who they were, and where they lied. Perhaps the web of their enemies was more vast than he knew, and he had no way of telling in which direction they came. For that fact, perhaps it was foolish for him to embark on a journey outside the dark woods, however, he could not sit still while it was almost a certainty that a storm was brewing and they had no cover to hide under, not anymore.
The teen moves silently, dripping mud and water as he moves; the remnants of an attempt to mask his scent from those that might recognize it. His pelt is stained a deep brown color, distorting his overall look under the setting sun that evening, and his scar, hidden under mud he had rubbed his snout into. The less recognizable he was, the better. His sizing was another issue, yet, something that could not be changed. Vaati could not hide forever, and if would be his unusually large size to give him away, well, there was nothing he could do about that. Instead, he lopes rather soundlessly yet noticeably, in the direction of the farthest region, the Hinterlands. The brotherhood as a whole was yet to step foot into its lands, and if it held an advantage the dark woods did not have, he was inclined to utilize it as a backup home, in the event they were forced to flee. In this, he attempts his best at avoiding the packs he knows of, dodging his way around neighbors and foe's alike with no interest in encountering any of the sort. His days of picking fights and experimenting on the fears and tendencies of others have come to an abrupt halt, and for the better. Those who looked upon him, them and what they would never understand the need for it all, that in their studies of captives and terror, the wolves of Blackfeather Woods became the most in-tune with the necessary evil they were meant to inflict. It was their part in the race of survival-of-the-fittest, and by doing the things they did, it was how they evolved, became better and stronger. Their children were warriors from birth, leaders, liars and those who would change the history of the Teekon, bit by bit. It did not just apply to Vaati, but to Atshen, and before him, Damien. But perhaps their time of survival had run its course. Their reign as the oldest, long-standing pack within the Wilds that had survived thus far by a way of life that was now being told to stop, threatened into extinction. Perhaps it was time. But perhaps, it was not. The Silencer holds his gaze, eyes wide on the boulevard of the setting sun as he searches for any means of escape, any way that he and his blood may survive to see the next snowfall. RE: and the future seems so bleak - Gannet - November 09, 2017 After meeting with Hydra, Gannet could have followed her, but instead turned south. He wanted to see Liffey, and was interested in this girl with her sisters, but did he have to go now? Nah. There was time yet to explore. He was skirting the mountains when he saw the other; a flash of white in the darkened landscape. He moved silently, so much so that Gannet almost missed him. But the youthful adventurer was on the lookout, especially after Hydra's warning, and zoned in on the movement immediately. He lowered himself, creeping forward, but then thought better of that. How did he knew Hydra had been telling the truth, or even that this wolf was the one she was talking about? "You... you're white." The words would definitely carry over to the wolf, and while they were no sort of proper introduction, Gannet felt they answered and asked every relevant question. RE: and the future seems so bleak - Vaati - November 26, 2017 Vaati briefly acknowledges the presence of another traveller not far off in the distance, but does not move to confront him as a young version of himself would have. He has no business meddling in the lives of others, not anymore. Not when those very actions had caused a spiralling series of event that left his home on the brink of non-existence. And so he hangs back, even as the other moves towards him, calling out a rather odd declaration of Vaati's appearance. "You're white." He doesn't know what to say to that. Never before had someone remarked upon his colour, ever. Perhaps his unsightly scar or his rather abnormal size, but never that. It strikes him as curious... as if the comment, added with the extra amount of hesitance in the other's voice, meant more than he knew. Something about the sudden identification of his colour -- and perhaps who he was -- made him want to turn around and run the other way. Against his better judgement, he doesn't. The other seemed less likely to attack him given the already verbal confrontation, indicating he didn't necessarily want him dead, not in the same manner the Cerberus did. In any case, the teen is sure he could take him, if push came to shove. Then again, he had been sure about a lot of things that had proved to stand against his favour within the previous weeks. Remaining where he stood, the teen voices a slightly confused confirmation, "Um... yeah," Unsure of what to say next, or how to treat the other's sudden revelation, he goes no further. RE: and the future seems so bleak - Gannet - December 28, 2017 ((Jfc this took long enough <3 eep!)) He seemed confused by Gannet's pronunciation, and as always, the fact that others were not in his head escaped him. He cocked his head sideways, appraising Vaati curiously. Did he not know? "Someone's looking for a white wolf." He stated, tail flicking behind him. This wolf wasn't he himself, so maybe it wasn't this man either. But he was curious, and so he stared. Was this the wolf Hydra had been seeking? RE: and the future seems so bleak - Vaati - December 28, 2017 To say that someone was looking for a white wolf specifically was a grand understatement. "A lot of people are looking for a white wolf." He snorts almost condescendingly. It was amusing how fast his reputation was spread since the incident, that in just a few short months the entirety of the Teekon Wilds in some form had come to hear of him. Amusing, and rather concerning. He leans in, "Are you one of those people?" The way he asks it begs something of a light threat; nothing outright malicious about it but holding a subtle undertone of a warning to choose carefully the direction of the conversation the other wished to take. As far as it stood, Vaati was in to place to attack anyone at the moment, but would not refuse a brawl if the other sought to call him out, or alert anyone else of his presence. its all good! <33
RE: and the future seems so bleak - Gannet - December 29, 2017 Now this situation he read fluently; and he knew the honest answer would be the right one. "No." It was as it always had been; if the Caldera had a problem, that was Gannet's concern. Outside their borders, however, Gannet worried very little. Perhaps he would tell Hydra of their meeting, but he would not bother this wolf now. "Why are they looking?" What was so special about him? Hydra had mentioned something about it, but she was only one reason. There were others? RE: and the future seems so bleak - Vaati - January 12, 2018 Why are they looking? Vaati chuckles lowly, cynically, "They are looking because they have nothing better to do." His voice hardens as he says so, however, retaining his temper as the other claims no, he is not one of those people. Those people, searching for a vengeance they don't care about. Searching for purpose in his death, something that ultimately, will not satisfy them. Once they have his head, it will not be long before they turn to another to quench their bloodlust. One mistake had cost him their ire, but this frivolous chase of life and death -- it was stupid bordering on plain moronic, to assume that revenge on him was what they wanted. No, they wanted something to occupy their time. It just so happened, he was an entertaining pastime. "They want my head because once I made a mistake -- and now, they seek to condemn me to a death that they will not think about months later, because they won't care to remember what the fuss was about in the first place." Vaati doesn't know why he vents to this stranger, knowing only that it is something he needs to make known at least once before the reckoning comes. RE: and the future seems so bleak - Gannet - January 15, 2018 Hunting him because they were bored? Gannet thought of Hydra; surely not. The he clarified. Made a mistake. "What sort of mistake?" He asked, wondering what could cause you to be so disliked they would want to hunt and (apparently?) kill you. It was a mistake he certainly didn't want to make then. RE: and the future seems so bleak - Vaati - February 21, 2018 What sort of mistake? Vaati had not asked himself that, and truthfully, had not wanted to. It was the sort of mistake built on arrogance, stupidity and that idiotic childish urge to make himself worth something -- to prove something to someone, regardless of what it was. Killing Rannoch had seemed like the best thing he could do at the time, the thing that would earn him the most credibility. That was what it had been all about right? The dark brotherhood, his family, they had all been killers and had all got away with it... why couldn't he? At least, that had been the notion when he had gone and done it. He shakes his head rather dismissively as if shaking away a bad memory, before moving to turn away from the stranger. "A childish one." Vaati replies, before simply picking up and going on his way, perhaps being the most honest with another being than he has ever been before. Perhaps he can admit his mistake in attempting to do something he should have known he could never pull off. Other than that, his conscious is clear. Next time, he will not let his youth cloud his judgement when making decisions such as the one he made with Rannoch. RE: and the future seems so bleak - Gannet - February 25, 2018 Gannet watched him go, mulling over the words only a minute before dismissing the wolf altogether and also leaving. He supposed anyone could make a mistake, but to have so many wolves gunning for your blood, it had to be a relatively big one. Childish aside. Hopefully he'd never make such a mistake. He continued back the way he'd come, hoping to hit the sunspire once more in an attempt to catch Liffey before hopefully heading home. Completely unaware of how awry things were about to go. |
